New The Exorcist Film Trilogy Officially Announced, Ellen Burstyn to Reprise Role as Chris MacNeil
Back in December it was revealed that David Gordon Green (the director behind the new Halloween trilogy) was in discussions to helm a sequel to William Friedkin's The Exorcist (based on William Peter Blatty's novel of the same name), and now that news has been confirmed with the official announcement that Universal and Peacock have teamed up with Blumhouse and Morgan Creek for a new Exorcist film trilogy that continues the story of the iconic 1973 possession film and will bring back Ellen Burstyn as Chris MacNeil.

The first film in the new Exorcist trilogy will be directed by David Gordon Green and is slated for an October 13th, 2023 theatrical release. In addition to Burstyn, Leslie Odom Jr. will also star in the new movie.
