Poll: Favorite Jean Gabin Film

Until his death Jean Gabin was one of the most iconic French actors. Today, his appeal is universal. Jacques Prévert wrote for Le Jour Se Leve (1939) that Gabin's character, François, had a "sad eye" and a "joyous eye". Not only is it true that his beautiful blue eyes are mysterious. But, it highlights the way in which Gabin consistently was able to play ambiguous characters, to alternate at will between tenderness and madness.
