Director Lars von Trier and his films are often considered provocative and controversial. He has been called anti-American and a misogynist, doesn't make life easy for his actors and was declared persona non grata at the Cannes Film Festival after an infamous press conference.

His latest project, The House That Jack Built (2018), is about a serial killer who murders women.
