Poll: Disney+ "Star Wars" Episodic Series You Most Want?
Disney's new streaming media service, Disney+ launched November 12, 2019 with the debut of The Mandalorian (2019) starring Pedro Pascal. The "Star Wars" series chronicles the adventures of an as yet unidentified Mandalorian warrior. It will be the first of many "Star Wars" franchise episodic series to be developed for the subscriber service. DisneyPlus' next new series from the franchise is an Andor (2022). The spy thriller streaming series reprises characters from the 'Star Wars' movie, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). The series stars Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk as Cassian Andor and K-2SO with a premiere in 2021 likely. Another "Star Wars" series seemingly destined for Disney+ will be a live-action limited-run Obi-Wan Kenobi (????) with Ewan McGregor reprising the title role. While not official, the Disney+ series is described as more likely to happen than not by industry insiders. Two cornerstones of Disney's strategy are to mine content from the 'Star Wars' and 'Marvel' franchises to drive and maintain subscriber growth for its new Disney+ streaming service.
