Truly painful to watch.

Warning: Spoilers
I caught two episodes of this show at a friend's house one night. There was nothing else on, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this review right now. I knew very little about Ray J, and I only knew Brandy because her earliest hits were top 40 when I was in high school. I had no other information about her background and family.

I guess like all reality TV series, this one was like a train wreck. I didn't want to watch but I couldn't help it. What I saw was two adults- Brandy and Ray J- being treated like little kids by their domineering mother. There was no mention of Brandy's offspring, and that might be a good thing. When Ray J was filming the reunion show for his "For The Love of Ray J" series, his mother was right there. She wanted to (at least partially) run the show when he hooked up with Rodney Jerkens. She seems to always control business meetings that take place between the family, while her husband observes from the background. When Ray J talked about wanting to settle down with one woman, she belittled his desire to do so and told him he wasn't ready. Between those demonstrations of motherly love were scenes of Brandy out with her girlfriends and Ray J trying to calm the women who were fighting over him. It was dysfunction all around, and Mommy Norwood seems to love it.

It is, after all, that drama and dysfunction that keeps the money rolling in.
