One of two murders that come across his desk has to do with the San Francisco 'Miners' football team and their star running back Gene Washington who is on trial for murdering one of his teammates.
All kinds of things happen to bring Rock Hudson and Susan Saint James into this case. First off Nancy Walker is serving on the jury and she's attacked while the jury is sequestered in the hotel room. After that happens the jury is moved to a high rise hotel with fixed windows so no one can break in.
