Fascinating aviation event and references to my place of work today
21 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Just seen on Talking Pictures. This captured my interest as I work at an airfield nearby the area of the crash site, as shown on the chart, which has links to 'Romney Marsh' and Le Touquet. I suspect they had 'Ferryfield' (Lydd) in mind - a very popular Air Ferry service for cars to the continent in the late 50's/60's. Alas, the control tower and stand/terminal footage (Heathrow stock) is too grand for Lydd and the ATC scene shot in a studio. I gather the stories in this series are factual with the names changed but a cursory search online has sadly yielded no results...perhaps this story is a work of fiction but the idea of a successful hijacker/bomber parachuting from the stricken aircraft is fascinating. Thankfully I haven't witnessed such shenanigans......yet!
