Warning: Spoilers
Was this an accurate portrayal of life in the Midwest during this era... Probably not, but we can imagine that this is a reasonable estimate. Just the day-to-day life during this period was risky on its own.

If this is the possibly the less notorious times of Billy the Kid, had he never been killed by Pat Garrett. It's very much fantasy, but an enjoyable one.

Is there earthly redemption? Many hope so, including our principal character, very well played by Tim Blake Nelson. He is very unassuming in his demeanor and also very demanding and difficult towards his son (Gavin Lewis). For me, that is the most critical relationship. Imagine living and surviving as a Sod Buster back in the days of the frontier. Hard times create hard men, hard men create good times, good times create soft men, and soft men create hard times. This movie certainly demonstrates that philosophy.

There's plenty of action and realism. Pigs! That's a fine way to dispose of your handy work.
