Leon Hollis Caverly is believed to be the first cinematographer sent overseas to film combat in France, Belgium and Germany during World War I.
Caverly was born in Dover, New Hampshire, to John W. and Elnora Mary Caverly. His father was a paper hanger. Young Caverly worked as a cameraman for motion pictures and later a newsreel photographer for Gaumont Film Company and Mutual Weekly.
In Hollywood he was a cameraman for Fox Film Corporation and Universal Studios. At Universal he assisted cinematographer Andre Barlatier in filming "Neptune's Daughter" (1914). At Mutual Weekly, he covered news events in South America.
On May 9, 1909, he married Mary E. Shaw in Boston, Massachusetts, at the People's Temple Methodist Episcopal Church. They had a daughter, but Mary died in 1918 during the flu pandemic while Caverly was overseas in France.
Short and stout - he only stood 5 feet, 4.5 inches tall - Caverly appeared to be an unlikely candidate for combat duty. Yet he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on April 30, 1917. By the end of 1917, he was given the designation of "official photographer" for the AEF and left New York for France on June 14, 1918, to become the first cinematographer for the American Expeditionary Forces. He was attached to the Fifth Division of the Marines as a quartermaster sergeant. His early work in the trenches resulted in the documentary "America's Answer to the Huns." It is unknown whether a print survives. During this period, his personal assistant was killed and he witnessed other cameramen sustain serious wounds photographing the war.
Toward the end of the war he was promoted to second lieutenant. He continued working in Europe following the Armistice, shooting film of Russian POW camps and rioting in Berlin. During this period he was attached to the AEF headquarters in Paris with the Second Division. He left Europe in September 1919 with the Marines to shoot documentary films in Cuba and Haiti. He also served a stint with the Marine Corps' Recruiting Publicity Bureau in New York City.
In 1920 he was discharged from the Marine Corps and became a still photographer for E.M. Newman, who produced "Newman Traveltalks" and resulted in such books as "Seeing Paris" in 1931. The book contained more than 300 of Caverly's photographs.
On Sept. 20, 1925, he married Grace V. Kopp and nine years later the couple had one daughter, Lynn Gail Caverly. Following the stock market crash of 1929, Caverly suffered severe financial losses and took a job in New York City as a photostat operator for a printing company. He remained on the job until his retirement in 1956.
He died on Dec. 12, 1966, in Flushing, Queens, New York, and buried at the Long Island National Cemetery.- Tammy Beaumont was born on 11 March 1991 in Dover, Kent, England.

David spent 1 ½ years traveling the U.S. chronicling the lives of Neil Diamond Impersonators and Tribute Bands, and the fans who follow them. The film, shot on mini-DV, follows 4 Impersonators and 3 Tribute Bands and their devotion to the Jewish Elvis: Neil Diamond. David has also created and produced two short documentary videos: Reflection of the Heart, a photographic montage of cardiac patients at Atlanta's Grady Hospital, and Winder, Georgia: 5 Kinds of Meat, a whimsical collection of interviews with the citizens of Winder, Georgia.- Producer

Born in Dover, Ohio, Christian-Rhen Stefani was raised to be an individual and a star. Ever since birth, she has displayed signs of talent. The first sign of talent was shown in dance. From the age of three, she was tip-tapping across the floor. Noticed immediately for her star quality by her great-uncle, Edward J. Gualtieri, she was quickly given an outlet for her not-yet-known venue of talent. She was urged to pursue dance classes, partake in singing, and even influenced by other classical entertainers - like Frank Sinatra or Judy Garland. Through many years, she took dance classes from Magenta Dance Studio, in her native Dover, Ohio. She even competed for the school, and went on to become a national dance champion. And that was only the beginning! She also displayed talent in acting, writing, choreography and art. By the age of ten, she had already written several short stories, hundreds of poems, and her first full-length play. While pursuing the arts, she was also an avid athlete. She was known for her prowess in boy's football, baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball, and gymnastics; it was in gymnastics that she retired an undefeated gold medalist on floor.
By the time she was 19, Christian-Rhen was a bit bored with dance, having competed and excelled for years previous, so she turned to acting. She surprised everyone with her star-like shine and obvious range of ability. Trying to get out from under her dancer's image, she stopped dancing altogether and honed her craft of acting. At 21, she couldn't bear to see the dancer in her die without another round of competition. Christian-Rhen's last and final competition was in St. Louis, Missouri, 1995, and allowed her to retire with a solid champion career. After she hung up her dance shoes once and for all, she went back to acting, determined to make the field her career; she even moved to Long Beach, California to enter into her dreams of acting. Since, she has acted in projects in locations such as Ohio, Missouri, California, Illinois, and New Mexico.
Christian-Rhen is also an award-winning actress. She has won Best Actress for her work on: Kinetix as Syron from the D.A.G. Film Awards in 2004-2005; and, Tallon Lake as Sacha Cage from the Tallon Lake Audience Choice Awards in 2010.
Christian-Rhen Stefani is a talented young lady with experience in acting, dancing, writing, abstract art, and even directing. And it is sure that she will continue to entertain her audience no matter which vehicle she chooses to do it in.- X.J. Kennedy was born on 21 August 1929 in Dover, New Jersey, USA.
