Elsewhere, a less pronounced threat also routinely besieges the Trio, which is the wannabe villain Jack W. Tweeg, a greedy Troll-half Grunge who has huge hopes for joining MAVO. The sixty five episode series, based upon the tape-and-book toy bear Teddy Ruxpin, unfolds gradually, as the Trio meet up with more and more interesting and often friendly creatures and visit intriguing lands.

Adderly, a former James Bond style operative for I.S.I., is given a desk job in the Department of Miscellaneous Affairs after losing function in his left hand- the result of torture by enemy agents. He hates the mundane assignments he is given, thumbs his nose at protocol, and somehow manages to dig up a threat to national security or a spy at every turn. Melville Greenspan, his boss, is an insecure life long pencil pushing bureaucrat, who seems concerned only with not making waves and making sure that the proper forms are filled out. He is afraid that Adderly's snooping will result in his being fired. Mona is the efficient department clerk/secretary, almost bored with her work and longing for excitement (and a date with V.H.). She often covered for Adderly, and would occasionally help him on assignments, sometimes with Greenspan's permission.

- Obediah Winslow, a gunfighter known as the Reaper comes to Bordertown and Craddock and Bennett are curious why he came. Craddock's worried that someone will get killed. Bennett seems content to let him stay. When someone tries to draw on him Craddock tells him to go but he says Craddock will have to carry his body out. Bennett stops them from going at it. He later goes to see Marie who later tells them why he came.
- Diane Denny,a former slave, thinks she has left the past behind in the south. Little does she know how wrong she is. Diane must struggle with her hatred for a man when her former owner shows up in town.
