- A Muslim army officer comes home to find his love has become a nun.

- Manoharlal Agarwal is a wealthy businessman and lives with his family consisting of three sons: Pratap, Dilip & Babu, two daughters Nirmala & Munni; his wife, Sharda; & Pratap's wife; He asks Satyaprakash Agarwal to be the sole arbitrator in a matter concerning himself and Hariram. Before the arbitration, he gets his daughter, Nirmala, who is studying in college, to get engaged to Satyaprakash's son, Ajay, who has recently completed his college. Hoping that this will get the arbitration verdict in his favor, he gets a shock when Satyaprakash gives a decision in Hariram's favor. Angered at this humiliation, Manoharlal breaks off the engagement between Ajay and Nirmala, and gets himself appointed as a sole arbitrator in a matter with Satyaprakash on one side and Manikchand on the other. Manoharlal intends to use this position to financially ruin Satyaprakash, and he also intends to wed Nirmala with a man named Murli shortly. What Manoharlal does not know is that Nirmala and Ajay have fallen in love with each other and have decided to elope and get married. Watch what the powerful and wealthy Manoharlal does to prevent Nirmala from getting married to Ajay.
- Indu and Shekar Gupta are an exemplary couple with a young son, who live a harmonious lower middle class life despite of spiraling inflation and costs of living. Their love and respect for each other is put to the test when Shekar's parents, and his unmarried sister decide to move in with them in their tiny apartment. Shekar's income is not enough to take care of their extended family, and to make matters worse, Shekar loses his job. Indu and Shekar decide that Indu must find employment, which she does, much to the dismay of her in-laws. Things get worse when Shekar's dad, Raghunath, witnesses Indu in the company of a male in a fancy restaurant, and thinks that she is having an affair. When told about this incident, Shekar shakes his head with disbelief, then changes his mind when he finds out that Indu has not only being going out with another male, but also with her boss, Mr. Dutt. Shekar must now make a decision about Indu, a decision which may well bring their marriage to an end.

Unknowingly he also loots the house of his mother (Dina Pathak), and he does not know that he has a twin brother in Chandan. He frequents the house of dancer Kamobai (Surinder Kaur). One day he comes across a seriously injured Chandan and is shocked to see the resemblance. He quickly takes advantage and assumes Chandan's identity, taking Chandan to be dead, he goes to live with Sona and Chandan's mom. He hopes that the police inspector assigned to his case (Viju Khote) will conclude that Trishul Singh is dead when they find Chandan's body. In this way he hopes to elude the police and start anew. But his plans are foiled as Chandan is still alive and mistaken by his gang of dacaits as Trishul Singh. But Chandan is timid and not cut out to be a cutthroat like his twin, and it will not be long before the gang finds out that something is wrong, or may possibly take advantage of Chandan's good-nature for their own greed and gain.
- Three brothers live together after the death of their parents. The eldest, Ramprasad, is married to Laxmi; the second, Jagdish, is married to Pinky; while the youngest, Kundan, is yet to marry. After Jagdish's marriage to Pinky, all kinds of misunderstandings crop up between Jagdish, Ramprasad, & Pinky on one hand, and Kundan on the other, and as a result they ask Kundan to leave. Kundan is on his own, unemployed, homeless, and wihtout any money. Ramprasad and Jagdish move to a bunglow in the city. Kundan does well for himself, and is now the proud owner of a garage, lives in a nice bunglow, and is married to Vidya. Meanwhile at Jagdish's, a large sum of money is missing. The police are called-in, and after a preliminary investigation they conclude that the money has been stolen by Ramprasad and Laxmi, who are nowhere to be found.
- Chiranjeev lives a wealthy lifestyle along with his widowed father Kashiram; two sisters, one of whom is mute; and a younger brother. On a trip, his friend Mohan falls ill from too-high consumption of alcohol and gets treated at an Ashram, where Chiranjeev meets Sharada, an employee who lives with her widower father Ram Sharan. Chiranjeev and Sharada fall in love, and Chiranjeev promises to get his father's permission and return to marry her. On the way he has an accident, he does survive, is looked after by tribal people, and after several days returns to the Ashram only to get the shocking news that Sharada is now married to a very wealthy, much older male. Devastated, he returns home and gets another shock when he finds that the Sharada has married none other than his very own father. He gets depressed and takes to alcohol in a big way. Sharada talks him out of this, he repents, and at her insistence he married Chanchal, the daughter of Hukumdas and Lajjo, who come from a wealthy background. Things then spiral out of control when Chanchal finds out that her husband and his stepmother were in love before and might not have overcome those feelings for each other.

They are rescued by an elderly woman, only to find themselves abducted by a group of female bandits. The leader of this band, feels sorry for the young lovers, and let's them go - and they try to make their way home - only to find that Amrish has appealed in the newspapers that he will reward anyone with information on Vicky with one lakh rupees. This creates a furore in the community, and the young lovers are on the run from several mobs. The youngsters do make it home in one piece. When Amrish finds out about Vicky's love for Annie, he is enraged and dismisses David from work, only to re-hire him back after the workers, together with Vicky, go on an indefinite strike, until Amrish relents and re-hires David. But Amrish makes it quite clear that this does not mean that he will let his only son marry the daughter of a mere employee - under any circumstance. On the other hand David, who is intimidated by the Rai family, instructs his daughter never to see Vicky again. Looks like this is the end of the line for the young heartbroken lovers.

Dr. Prakash is enraged and humiliated, and vows to avenge this. He gets married to Ramona, but is unable to get Aarti from his mind, and he keeps in touch with Aarti, and does succeed in bringing a discord in their marital life, so much so that Deepak asks Aarti to leave, and she moves in back with her dad. Then Deepak has an accident, and Dr. Prakash is the only surgeon who can operate on him, and he agrees to do so on condition that Aarti surrenders herself to him forever.
- Lakhipur is a small community along the river bank of Ganga, where Sonu lives with his ailing mother. One day he rescues a woman named Geeta and brings her home with him. He and his mom look after her while she recuperates and find out that she comes from a wealthy family. When she gets better, he takes her home, only to find out that she is no longer welcome there by her paternal uncle and his wife, Ramkali. His mom agrees to let her live with them, and would like them to get married, but passes away before that could happen. They end up getting shunned by the by the entire community - until Sonu agrees to find a suitable groom for Geeta. He does find one in a doctor, who arrives to treat plague-ridden patients. The doctor agrees to marry Geeta, but on the day of the marriage - does not show up. A distraught Sonu must now find why the doctor did not fulfill his promise - in the midst of the community threatening to boycott him and possibly burning his brand new boat.

Penniless and hungry, he roams the streets of Bombay and befriends a blind young man, Mohan, and both use their talents - playing and harmonica and singing respectively to earn some money. Mohan is on the look-out for his sister, Meena, who works as a Nurse in one of the hospitals and hopes to be reunited with her. Both friends befriend a ailing young girl, Manjula, and hope to get some money from her so that Ramnath can attend school. But fate has other plans for them, Manjula passes away, Meena does get to meet Mohan, but refuses to recognize him as she does not wish to associate herself with a lowly beggar; while Ramnath is arrested by the Police for his alleged involvement with a group of robbers.
