- Two brothers fight with each other for their father's kingdom and also for marrying a dancer.
- Raja lives a wealthy lifestyle with his somewhat upper Caste Hindu, eccentric, woman-hating dad, Hazurdas, and mom. He is friendly with Kishore, and both are aspiring doctors. On their way to college, they meet with two young women, Rani Mehra and Kamini. Both young men fall in love with them, with Raja taking the first initiative and getting married to Kamini, even though she of a lower untouchable Caste, but decides not to tell his parents. When he does inform them, they want him to divorce Kamini and get married to a girl of their choice, Raja refuses and returns back to Kamini, only to find her in the arms of her childhood friend, Sunder. Angered and hurt at this betrayal, he decides to marry the girl his parents have chosen for him - and he is due for another surprise - as the girl he is about to wed is none other than Kamini's friend, Rani. Watch what happens when a liberated, tom-boyish Rani finds out that Raja is already married, and the impact this has on everyone concerned.

Then several days later, Ashok returns home and he is not the same loving husband and father anymore. He decides to sell the business, has nothing to do with Munna and Laxmi, and asks them to take some money, while he returns to Bombay. Laxmi and Munna follow him to Bombay, but are unable to locate him. They are befriended by a petty thief and pickpocket by the name of Raja, who lives with a young street dancer named Rani and her dad, Baba. When Baba finds out that Laxmi may be related to Raja and that Munna may be their child, he asks them to leave the house. Raja then takes them to Ashok, and to Laxmi's shock she finds her once-loving husband living with another woman, much younger and prettier, by the name of Sangita. Watch what happens when Sangita asks Laxmi to be the maidservant, and Ashok refuses to recognize his wife and child.

Chiranjeev and Sharada fall in love, and Chiranjeev promises to get his father's permission and return to marry her. On the way he has an accident, he does survive, is looked after by tribal people, and after several days returns to the Ashram only to get the shocking news that Sharada is now married to a very wealthy, much older male. Devastated, he returns home and gets another shock when he finds that the Sharada has married none other than his very own father. He gets depressed and takes to alcohol in a big way. Sharada talks him out of this, he repents, and at her insistence he married Chanchal, the daughter of Hukumdas and Lajjo, who come from a wealthy background. Things then spiral out of control when Chanchal finds out that her husband and his stepmother were in love before and might not have overcome those feelings for each other.
- Rajendra Mehra is the only child of Rai Bahadur Kailalshnath, and studies in a school along with Nandu, Mehmood, Chatpat, Guru, and others. He decides to go on an outing with them, incurring the anger of his dad, who at first sends his servant, Dhamu, to bring him back. When Dhamu fails, he sends Mirza Usman, and when Mirza too fails to bring Rajendra home, Kailashnath himself sets out himself, but when he reaches them, he finds that the children have already left for home. Angered at his son for mixing with poor students, he decides to remove him from the school and have him taught at home - and the person he has recruited is none other than Shaktimaan Singh - a Circus Ringmaster. The question remains will Shaktimaan be able to appropriately discipline Rajendra?
- Ajit is a poor farmer who has mortgaged his land with Zamindar Haridas. Ajit gets in the bad books of Haridas, and as a result he loses his house and property, on the very day of his sister's marriage. Ajit loses his temper and assaults Haridas, and as a result is arrested and imprisoned. His sister, Parvati, on her own now, gets molested, but is rescued in the nick of time by Haridas' son, Dr. Manohar, who eventually marries her, much to the anger of his dad. When Ajit is released from prison, he comes to Haridas' house with a sharp knife, bent on vengeance at any cost, not knowing that his sister is married in this family.

Raju gives his consent for both to get married, and they, together with Anand's sister, Nandini and her son, Kasturi, move into their palatial house. When Radha finds out that Raju lives Malti, she arranges his marriage with her and she too moves in with them. Soon misunderstandings start between Nandini, Malti and Radha, and as a result Raju and Malti leave the house. Then Raju gets a shock when he receives a letter from Radha's lawyer demanding half of the estate. By the looks of things it does appear that there is no more love lost between brother and sister, and their estate may be contested in a court of law - leaving nothing but bitterness and hatred on both sides.
- When the king Daksha's daughter Sati marries Shiva against his wish, he performs a yagna to insult Shiva. So, Sati jumps into the fire and dies. Knowing this, Shiva becomes furious and decapitates Daksha.

Dharmesh now has to battle with his conscience, and his medical ethics to save Ram or to let him pass away, so that he can marry Sita.
- Ramdas is a trusting individual, and trusts everybody around him. When times turn bad for him, he entrusts the life of his son, Bansi, to his trusted employee, Ronaklal, and departs. He regularly sends money to Ronaklal to provide for the upkeep of his son, but Ronaklal uses this money to educate his son, Deepak, keeps Bansi uneducated, and makes him do a lot of manual work. Years pass by, Ronaklal is now crippled, and is dependent on Bansi, as Deepak has left him, got married to a wealthy girl, and lives with his in-laws. Ronaklal is unable to show his face to Ramdas, and avoids him, and Bansi has grown up without knowing who his real father is. Will Ronaklal be able to tell Ramdas the truth when he returns, or will be just let Deepak be the sole heir to all the estate and the property?

Accused of a murder, the Prince has to flee the Palace, with the police after him. To compound matters, the daughter of the murdered man is committed to exacting revenge, by killing the killer. Going incognito, Bharat Pratap emerges as Bharat Ram, and displays his true character. Can Princess Sangeeta (Sadhna) forgive Rajkumar who she believes killed her father? How can she reconcile her love for Bharat Ram, the common man, with her hatred for the Royal Bhanu Singh-alleged murderer of her father? This is a complex story of Royalty in India, in the post Independence (from the British) era, before democracy took root. It is a story of love, Indian values and to some extent superstitions and the conflict between values, superstition and modern views of the world they lived in.

He meets and fall in love with Sunita who then introduces him to her dad, Damodar. Gopal also find out that Damodar is a mere pawn in the hands of the same criminals he is looking for and must continue his investigation to reach the mastermind.

When Gajendra finds out, he is enraged and attempts to beat the stuffing out of the person he thinks is his brother-in-law, but Shyamrao refuses to be abused or beaten, and all of a sudden things start changing in the household as well as in the community. It is not long before Gajendra finds out about the truth, and plans an ugly death for Shyamrao, and all those opposed to him.

However, the attraction between Radha and Gopi remains as strong as ever and ugly rumours start to circulate about the nature of their relationship - for which Gopi blames the jealous Gauri. Emotions come to the boil and tragedy results. Fortunately, for all concerned, another birth awaits them......

Chitra soon finds out that Ramesh is an alcoholic, and a womanizer, but she would still like him to marry her, as she is expecting his child. Then a young man, Prakash, finds out that Prof. Kumar had an affair with his mother, Parvati, and abandoned her in a pregnant state, when he found out that she was going to lose her vision. Prakash now wants to expose this two-faced professor, and get some justice for his mother. Faced with a scandal over his pregnant daughter, will Kumar be able to handle Prakash's accusations?

- After completing college, dark-skinned Adivasi Shekhar returns home to find that his mother Savli has passed away. Shekhar decides to avenge his humiliation and sets forth to expose Pratap. Upon arrival in Ramgarh, he finds that he has a fair-skinned look-alike half-brother, Dilip, as well as a sister, Neelu. Dilip meets him, hires him as a office staffer, and asks him to impersonate him in order to meet Deepa, the only daughter of wealthy Vinodbabu, and Shekhar agrees. Shekhar meets Deepa and they are attracted to each other. Shekhar decides to tell her the truth about himself and returns to Ramgarh. Once there, he finds history repeating itself as Dilip is in love with an Adivasi belle, Jhumki, but refusing to marry her.
- Orphaned Sanjeev lives with his comically parsimonious paternal uncle, Maniram, who offers to look after him on the condition that a contested Last Will and Testament, will benefit him. When the Court rules otherwise, Maniram stops all support for Sanjeev, who then borrows money from his close friend, Sunil, to complete his education. Then Maniram arranges Sanjeev's marriage with a young woman named Gauri, the only daughter of millionaire Ram Prasad. Sanjeev agrees to this marriage, gets married, and thereafter leaves as he finds out that Gauri is blind. Maniram gets Sunil to convince Sanjeev to return to his wife, so Sunil and Sanjeev go on a hunting trip, where Sanjeev is attacked by an enraged elephant, thrown off a cliff, and believed to be dead. But he survives, and several months later, returns to Maniram's house, where, to his horror, he finds that Sunil has taken over his identity and is now living with Gauri. Watch closely as an enraged Sanjeev decides to find out what really happened after his accident, and the circumstances that made Sunil live with Sanjeev's wife.

Years later, his past comes to haunt him in the shape and form of Shyama's relatives, and Ranibala's suitor, Manmohan, who will not leave any stone unturned to blackmail Gopalnath for the rest of his life.
- After the death of his father, Raghu and his mother are left in a destitute way of living which prompts him to steal food for the survival of his mother. The police then arrest him with his mother dying in the process; before he could reach the police station he escapes and is taken in by a criminal don only to become an outlaw. When he is asked to abduct a child which results in the death of the mother his heart changes and he decides to surrender to the law. Years later after his release from jail he promises the inspector to go straight and drives a truck for survival. He comes to the assistance of a young woman named Malti who is on the run from her abusive guardian, Raju; at first he attempts to turn her in but later on relents when he learns of her position. Both Raghu and Malti then fell in love and decide to get marry and soon are proud parents to a daughter, Banku. The duo then get settles in a corner but Raghu criminal friends who he uses to work for are not willing to let go of him and decides to create situations that will leave him with only one option - that of re-uniting with the gang.
- Beautiful Radha lives in a small hill-station in India. One day, Mahesh comes for sight-seeing, both meet, fall in love with each other, get intimate, and Mahesh promises to return, marry her and take her with him to live in Bombay. He does not return, Radha continues to search for him in every train that stops at Shampur, in vain. She eventually gives birth to a baby girl, Laxmi, and both are looked after by Shampur's kind-hearted Station Master. Radha does come across Mahesh, but he refuses to recognize her, and she kills herself. The Station Master takes Laxmi to her next of kin, in all two families, but all reject Laxmi, consider her inauspicious, and will have nothing to do with her. He leaves Laxmi with her maternal grand-parent, Bhagwanti and her husband, but Laxmi is abused and she runs away to Bombay, where she is befriended and looked after by a blind beggar, Anwar. One day Laxmi and Anwar find that they have won a lottery worth 2.5 lakh rupees, are delighted, and look forward to the positive change in their lives. Laxmi is happy as she feels that she will be able to find her parents with her new-found wealth. Then all of Laxmi's relatives descend on them, their neighbors show their greed by severely beating up Anwar, and Laxmi runs away, followed closely by people with only one motive - steal the lottery ticket from her. Laxmi seeks the help of the police, and Inspector James is asked to look after her. Then a man claiming to be her father comes to take possession of her, but Laxmi remembers him as the man who had refused to recognize Radha and refuses to go with him. Subsequently, Mahesh returns with Radha, much to Laxmi's delight - which only turns to sorrow and heartbreak when she finds out that it is not Radha but a prostitute by the name of Girja - who is assisting Mahesh to get the lottery ticket. Looks like Laxmi is headed for heartbreak upon heartbreak, and may not find the happiness that she is looking for.
- Raja (Jeetendra) lives with his widowed sister Divya (Meena Kumari) in a small village. He is constantly being made a target by the oppressive local Zamindar and his two children, Sagar and Chanchal. The land owner's children decide to take revenge on Raja by getting Sagar married to Raja's sweetheart Neela. The Zamindar also molests Raja's sister, who kills herself. With his Neela married and his sister dead, a devastated Raja heads to the city. Once over there he attempts to put his life together, and try to forget the past. It is then he meets with another victim of the Zamindar, Bajrangi (Mehmood) and together they conceive a plan that will avenge them against their oppressors. The question is, will they succeed or will there be more victims.
- Orphaned Raju, in the company of four elephants, has to perform with them at street corners, in order to keep alive. Slowly he amasses a fortune, and is able to build his own private zoo, housing tigers, lions, bears, and of course the four elephants. He treats all the animals as his friends. He meets with Tanu, and both fall in love. Tanu's dad, Ratanlal, is opposed to this alliance, but subsequently relents, and permits the young couple to get married. Tanu is unhappy with the amount of time Raju spends with his animal friends, and this causes some bitterness between them. Things do not improve when a child is born, as Tanu fears that one day the child will be harmed by one of the animals, and hence Raju is told to make a choice between his animal friends or his wife and son.
- Dharmendra plays Deepak, an honest, hard working son. His family consists of his widowed mother and younger brother Suresh. By luck, he stumbles on a good job, but with the wrong man, Mr. Jwalaprasad. His mother takes his oath to protect his younger brother when on her death bed. She also reveals a family secret about his brothers real identity and missing fortune that is overheard by the dangerous Shyam. Shyam has been plotting against Deepak with Mr. Jawalaprasad since he lost his love, Chandni Jwalaprasad, to him. Through a series of bad events, Suresh is murdered, and Deepak is imprisoned. The film also has a light-hearted side story of a love struck pharmacist and his bosses daughter. There is an abundance of campy seventies beatnik wear and music, plenty of one-on-ten hero fights, and the mandatory twist at the end of the story.
