In the meantime, Maya has been snooping around the house and finds Paul's safe, trying to open it without success. She quickly puts everything back in place to avoid getting caught. Denise contacts Maya and tells her everything about her relationship with Paul, but Maya is not surprised by the information. Denise warns Maya that Paul is not who he seems and she should be careful. Paul discovers a receipt that reveals Maya has been paying for an apartment she claimed to have left. He confronts Maya about this, assuming she's after his money, but Maya reveals that she's actually the best friend of his former wife, Veronica, who he had assaulted and almost killed. They believe that evidence of Paul's crime is in the safe and manage to get the code, in which they find the evidence they were looking for to put Paul away. They try to escape before Paul catches them, but they don't have the keys to the car. Paul ambushes them in the house, but before he can harm them, Maya knocks him out and they manage to call the police to come to the rescue.
