- Constance convinces Field to hire Julio as a political aide. Later, while on a business trip to Tallahassee, Constance arranges for a secret tryst with her new lover. Michael Tyrone befriends Lute-Mae and removes Tony from her life. Lute-Mae is surprised by Tyrone's friendliness, unaware that he has learned the secret of Constance's parentage and plans to use it to his advantage.
- In Detroit, an agent for the U.S. Department of Immigration and Naturalization is gunned down while investigating the Organization's smuggling of illegal immigrants. He survives but because a federal officer has been assaulted, the FBI assumes command of the case. Erskine and Daniels lead the FBI's probe. Meanwhile, the main witness to the shooting has been bought off. But an Organization boss decides the witness should be silenced -- permanently.
- Skipper learns that his vision loss might not be temporary. The long and complicated romance between Lane and Sam culminates in a beautiful wedding. Titus decides to frame someone for the explosion at The Clarion and shocks the wedding party when he places one of the guests under arrest for the crime.
- Field comes to the realization that Sande has just been using him to feed Michael Tyrone information for his blackmail scheme. Sande recognizes that she has real feelings for Field and doesn't want to continue hurting him. Skipper and Alicia decide to escape complications with his family by eloping. Tyrone uses his power to ensure Field's support in an imminent vote to legalize gambling in Truro.
- Wealthy land developer Michael Tyrone moves to Truro. Sam finds himself locked in a battle for ownership of choice waterfront property that Tyrone wants as the site for his proposed casino. Pretty Alicia Sanchez catches the eye of Skipper, and the attraction is mutual. Claude spots Field having an intimate lunch with a mysterious young woman.
- Tully, a small cog in the Reno branch of the Organization, is in legal trouble. The feds have a witness who can put him in prison. Tully's son attempts a hit on the witness, who is severely wounded. The Organization is not pleased and its operative, Brimmer, tells Tully he wants the son to take the fall. The Organization concludes the son needs to be eliminated. Erskine and Daniels lead the FBI's efforts to bring the son in alive.
- Frankie Geller escapes from a federal prison in Pennsylvania. Geller had agreed to take the rap for the Pittsburgh arm of the Organization in return for his family being taken care of. But that didn't happen and his wife killed herself. Geller now is seeking revenge and wants to expose Organization secrets. His primary target is Price, the Organization leader who led the double cross. Erskine and Daniels lead the FBI's manhunt for Geller and are racing to find him before the mob does.
- Constance discovers Field's illicit relationship with Sande Swanson and reciprocates by initiating an affair with Michael Tyrone. A protective Eudora takes advantage of Skipper's blindness to keep Alicia away from him. While honeymooning in Nassau, Sam and Lane run into Tyrone. Lane becomes disappointed when Sam's attention is diverted away from her and on to learning more about Tyrone's activities.
- After learning that hit man Slade and his employer Harrison Brand are coming to kill her, Lane plans to skip town, but she's captured by her pursuers. The arrival of an impending hurricane forces Brand to turn back to Truro, where everyone seeks shelter at Lute-Mae's bar. Eudora and Elmo find themselves thrown together in the storm. Constance realizes that Lane will never be displaced from Field's life. Field and Constance have a violent argument on the staircase that ends with Constance plunging through the railing.
- Eudora returns to Truro in time for Christmas. Up to his ears in gambling debts, Tony swipes money from Lute-Mae, an act witnessed by Lane. Tyrone strong-arms Titus into evicting barrio residents. A steamy affair ignites between Constance and Julio Sanchez. Lane confides in Lute-Mae about Tony's stealing, but she doesn't receive the reaction she expected.
- A vindictive Tyrone forecloses on the Weldon mill after gaining control of the Truro bank. Constance continues her affair with Julio. A defeated and humiliated Claude contemplates suicide over the loss of his business. Old friends Sam and Lane find their tempestuous relationship resuming when they're stranded together in the country.
- While accompanying Sam on a trip to Miami, Lane has a chance encounter with an old acquaintance, who stuns her with the news that several former friends, all sharing a secret, have died recently in mysterious accidents. Constance and Tony continue their plot to remove Christie from Skipper's life. A hit-man named Slade earmarks Lane for elimination.
- Unaware of Michael Tyrone's manipulation, Field uncovers damning evidence of his late father's dealings with Titus, and the information could lead to Titus' downfall. Alicia reassures Skipper that she loves him regardless of his disability. The reason for Tyrone's agenda in Truro is revealed, along with the shocking true identity of Field's lover Sande Swanson.
- Constance and Julio take their secret relationship to the next level. Field considers having an affair with reporter Sande Swanson. With Titus up for re-election as sheriff, Elmo decides to take the opportunity to expose Titus' corruption and rid Truro of him once and for all by challenging him in the race.
- Setting a plan in motion to take over the town, Michael Tyrone donates land for the Truro Arts Center and proposes naming it in honor of Field's late father. Alicia dodges Eudora's security to meet with Skipper. Tyrone continues to manipulate Lute-Mae, Constance and Field. Lane adjusts to a life of wealth and respectability as Sam's wife, as the couple moves into a mansion of their own on Flamingo Road.
- Skipper pens a series of cautionary editorials against the legalization of gambling in Truro County, inciting the wrath of Titus and Tyrone. Sam and Lane make preparations for their lavish wedding. Elmo refuses to suppress Skipper's editorials, and later an explosion rocks The Clarion offices. Skipper survives the blast, but his injuries leave him blinded.
- Julia warns Titus that he's a dead man, unless he can kill Michael Tyrone first. Tyrone explains his vengeance to Eudora. Titus sees dead men hanging from trees. Tyrone declares Constance a tramp and affects her destruction by revealing to her the identity of her mother and father. Lane is terrified by a threat to Sam's life. Claude must answer to Eudora and Constance for lying about Constance's parentage.
- Forming an alliance to investigate Michael Tyrone's past, Sam and Field fly to Nassau where they encounter voodoo. Lane discovers she's pregnant. A captive Sande gets word to Field that he and Sam are in danger. Tyrone proposes marriage to Lute-Mae. On their way back to Truro, Sam and Field's plane is sabotaged and crashes in the Everglades. Titus suggests that Constance prepare her widow's outfit. Tyrone vows to destroy Titus, the Weldons, and the Carlyles.
- Claude considers having Eudora committed to a psychiatric hospital. Constance reveals that she's no longer paralyzed. Michael Tyrone appeals to Constance to help him change Field's mind about the proposed casino resort. Constance's recovery prompts Field to reconsider their current arrangement. Tyrone threatens to destroy Field's political career if he doesn't approve the casino.
- Field turns his attention to improving living conditions in Truro's impoverished barrio quarter. Meanwhile, Sam assumes responsibility for Alicia and Julio Sanchez, the adult children of one of his Cuban employees, who dies at the construction site. Field learns the identity of the barrio's slumlord. Julio bristles at Alicia's reliance on Sam. Sam and Titus draw battle lines over their domain.
- Lute-Mae becomes the victim of rape at the hands of one of Truro's privileged sons. When Titus is reluctant to investigate the assault, Lute-Mae enlists the help of Sam, Lane, and Tony to expose the young man's violent past. Field is impressed by a recuperating Constance, who persuades Sam to rethink his opinion on a controversial bill sponsored by Field.
- After Constance's jewelry disappears from the Weldon mansion, suspicion falls on Julio. Michael Tyrone escorts Lute-Mae to the racetrack, and she learns that he has earmarked her to manage his new casino resort. Titus has Julio arrested for grand larceny, a move which could expose his affair with Constance. Sam proposes marriage to Lane, but what should be a joyous occasion becomes one of ambivalence when she feels pressured to accept his proposal.
- Harlan Slade, with a record of plotting bank jobs, escapes from prison and goes on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List. Erskine and Daniels take the lead in the bureau's investigation. Their main lead is how Slade has a number of family members in Kansas. But Slade already is planning his next caper. He is targeting Scottsdale, Arizona, near Phoenix, one of the wealthiest American suburbs. He has a bank in mind and his plan is underway.
- Jason and Laurie Peale are a father-and-daughter con artist team. Jason is adept as playing the role of a rich big shot to entice his targets. After getting away with one scam, they now travel to Arizona for their biggest con yet. The FBI, led by Erskine and Colby is on their trail. Meanwhile, Jason has made a mistake. He cons the owner of a jewelry store out of a $15,000 ring. The store owner, as it turns out, is in debt to a loan shark. The loan shark knows Jason is a con man - and intends to use him for his own purposes.
- Hamilton is the leader of three men who have stolen a large amount of bonds from bank messengers. Hamilton, while waiting for a deal to fence the bonds, goes back to his home town. There, he revisits his high school sweetheart, Margaret. Meanwhile, Erskine and Daniels lead the FBI's investigation and are running down the three participants in the robbery. Hamilton's two confederates are apprehended and the FBI men are now tracking down the leader of the operation.
- An employee of the Bureau of Indian Affairs is in a coma after an attack at a hard-luck mine called Superstition Rock. Because a federal employee is involved, the FBI is called into the case immediately. There have been a series of incidents at the mine that have spooked the American Indian employees. They believe the incidents indicate the mine is near an Indian burial ground. While Erskine supervises the bureau's investigation, Colby goes undercover as an ex-con who is now a new mine employee. The investigation turns up a conspiracy intended to force a sale of the mine. Before the FBI was solve the case, Colby's life will be endangered.
- In Maryland, a woman graduate student is stabbed and is in serious condition. Because of the crime occurred on U.S. government-owned property, the FBI launches an investigation. Two other students at the same college were slain previously and all three victims belonged to the same sorority. Erskine and Daniels take charge and are joined by a woman FBI agent who graduated from the same college and belonged to the same sorority. The FBI has three suspects and the woman FBI agent will be endangered before the case is concluded.
- Ten years after a controversial espionage trial, the son of one of the defendants tries to kill the judge. Erskine and Daniels head up the FBI's investigation of the attempted killing. The FBI men want to prevent a second attempt on the judge's life. But the bureau investigators must delve deep into the earlier case to find the clues they need.
- Erskine and Colby criss-cross the country as they seek a gang of bank robbers led by Larry Kulhane. In Nebraska, two police officers have been injured trying to apprehend the gang. That's where the trail begins for Erkine, who will travel to Seattle, Atlanta and Charleston, South Carolina, during the investigation. Kulhane's ultimate target is Ardyth Nolan, a wealthy, strong-willed older woman, who has more than $200,000 in her home after liquidating some investments. Kulhane has one man in the Nolan home as the new butler. Another one of his men has gotten friendly with Nolan's college age granddaughter, her closest living relative. If Kulhane finds the money, he intends to kill Mrs. Nolan.
- Annabelle Troy's mother Mary learns more of the facts surrounding the arson fire at the Weldon mill. Bent on avenging her daughter's death at the hands of Titus, Mary threatens to publicly name him as her killer, and then expose all of his lurid secrets. Field gains knowledge that could give him the upper hand over his political opponent.
- Field reverses his support of the gambling bill and resigns his senate seat rather than yield to Tyrone's blackmail. Armed with a gun, a deranged Lute-Mae stalks Tyrone as he has another sexual tryst with Constance. Julio continues to pursue a disinterested Constance, who institutes divorce proceedings against Field. Lute-Mae is ready for the sanitarium.
- Skipper begins an affair with Christie Kovacs, and she's hiding a very rough past. Meanwhile, Constance enters into an alliance with Christie's former boyfriend Tony to break up the relationship. Lane's past returns to haunt her when she learns that one of her former johns, a wealthy businessman, has been killed in a suspicious accident.
- Having caught Field and Lane in an embrace, a scorned Constance orders her husband to get rid of his mistress, but Field is unmoved by her threats. Using her family's power in the community, Constance turns to Titus. The two scheme to have Lane run out of town once and for all.
- Surgeons work feverishly to save Constance's life following her fall at Lute-Mae's. Eudora eavesdrops on a conversation and is mortified to learn the secret surrounding Constance's natural parents. An investigative reporter delves into the circumstances behind Constance's fall. A guilt-ridden Field learns that if Constance recovers, she might be permanently paralyzed. Titus warns Field that his political career will be over unless he reconciles with Constance.
- When the newspaper is reluctant to endorse him for state senate, Field's pushed to the breaking point. The Weldons host a lavish election party for family, friends, and the press. During the party, Field arranges to have a moment alone with Lane. Constance spies on Field and Lane as they share a passionate kiss. Later, Constance vows revenge, but her maneuvers backfire.
- Sam rejects an important campaign speech that Field worked feverishly to complete. Feeling the pressure of his political demands and dissatisfaction in his marriage to Constance, Field vanishes just before he's scheduled to appear at Truro's fish fry. After political backers threaten to withdraw their support, Sam intercedes, and Titus sends out a search party. Later, a drunken Field turns up at the fish fry.
- Claude and Eudora host a party to welcome Michael Tyrone to Truro. Lane befriends Charlie Banks, a musician hired to play at Lute-Mae's. Conflict arises between Titus and Tyrone over the barrio property. Constance continues to get physical with her therapist. Lane's fondness for Charlie turns to hostility when she learns his true identity. Field sides with Titus against Tyrone.
- After he and Claude have a highly volatile confrontation about Annabelle's death, an angry Skipper packs his bags and makes plans to leave Truro immediately. Later, a freak accident leaves Claude trapped and seriously injured. Blaming himself for his father's condition, Skipper realizes that he can't leave town until the situation is resolved.
- Dangerous chemicals spill from the Weldon mill and contaminate Sam's construction site, forcing an environmental protection agency to shut down both businesses. Titus leads hit man Slade to Lane. Claude appeals to Field to use his power with the state environmental committee to reopen the mill. Field agrees to help Claude and Sam in exchange for an expedient divorce from Constance. Titus pays Christie to leave Truro and take her secret with her.
- A hospitalized Christie remains unconscious following the accident. Constance discovers the details of the crash and learns that Field and Lane were together afterward. Titus places Christie's hospital room under surveillance to ensure that when she awakens she doesn't leak damaging information about Field. A vengeful Constance commiserates with Sam about Field and Lane, and their anger turns to mutual lust.
- Plans that are part of a top secret U.S. government project are stolen. An independent operator intends to sell them to an Eastern Bloc nation. But the two sides don't trust one another and each is out to gain any advantage it can. The FBI gets a break when a visiting Eastern bloc scientist - who wants to defect to the U.S. - informs the bureau he has been contacted to help verify the plans. But the scientist is injured in a lab accident before he can see the plans. Erskine takes his place and goes undercover. This time out, things will be even more dangerous for the FBI man. He'll have to fake being blind, like the defecting scientist. The scientist is also an accomplished chess player, something that could blow Erskine's cover.
- Erskine and Daniels investigate a St. Louis trucking company. The Organization uses trucks from the company to hijack shipments from other trucking firms. The Organization also takes a cut of the profits of the St. Louis company, which gains more and more business as its competitors are driven out of business. The owner of the St. Louis company begins to crack under the pressure and seeks a meeting with Erskine -- a meeting the Organization will seek to stop.
- The youngest son of a millionaire rancher is kidnapped. As Erskine's investigation unfolds, it becomes apparent there's more to the case than appears. The truth evokes Cain and Abel and involves multiple double crosses. With time running out, Erskine races to solve the case.
- Gus Benderson, a colorful safe cracker, has been recently released from prison. He participates in a jewelry heist that goes bad when one of the three participants is wounded. Benderson then visits his son, Robert, who hasn't seen his father for years. The younger Benderson is just starting a life of crime -- and refuses to listen to the warnings of his father. Erskine and Colby are on Benderson's trail, which leads to Southern California, where the younger Benderson lives. Father and son are going to do a big job before Gus retires.
- Catering a syndicate wedding: all in a day's work for Erskine, out to get the facts behind an upheaval in the organization.
- Selkirk, a former Army officer, is bitter that he was never promoted beyond major. He breaks out two prisoners from the stockade of an Army base in Arizona. As Erskine and Daniels investigate, it's clear that Selkirk has an impressive collection of weapons. The two prisoners were labeled "incorrigibles" by the Army and their expertise includes demolition. Selkirk's target is a $750,000 Army payroll -- and he has the means and the intelligence to pull off the job.
- Mario Dracus, a New England boss for the Organization, is on trial. He expects to be convicted but, suddenly, is free when a mistrial is declared. Dracus is among the most surprised people in the federal courtroom -- this is not his doing. The FBI investigates whether the jury has been tampered with. Erskine and Daniels, in the course of the probe, confirm that some of the jurors have been threatened. The FBI concludes the bought jury was a way for the Organization to get Dracus out of the way so younger members can take over.
- A member of the Organization, Albert Dirks, has a grudge against a county prosecutor, William Sanders. Sanders was responsible for sending Dirks to prison, during which time his wife died. So Dirks has put out an unauthorized contract on the prosecutor. Dirks has hired Alex Tanner, who likes to kill his victims with bombs. Tanner's first attempt injures another man instead. Because the murder attempt took place on federal property, the FBI is assigned to the case, with Erskine and Colby spearheading the investigation. The Organization wants no further attempts made on Sanders. But Tanner, whose sanity is in question, feels he must finish the job to maintain his "reputation."
- An unemployed aerospace engineer participates in a bank robbery but is double crossed. Desperate, he plans a new robbery where he will call the shots. He recruits one of his former co-workers for assistance. Meanwhile, Erskine and Colby, who are investigating the first robbery, are now on the engineer's trail.
- A high-ranking scientist at a major company is part of a Communist spy ring. He is about to turn over notes from a top-secret project. Then he discovers his wife has left home. That's a blow to the ego of the scientist, and he goes off looking for her. Meanwhile, the FBI has already arrested one of the scientist's confederates. Now both the bureau, led by Erskine and Colby, and the Communist agents are in a race to reach the scientist first.
