A few days later, the Governor's wife relates this story to Ann Kelso/salon owner as she lies on the facial table for her spa treatment. The VooDoo Princess has been following her and overhears how she is going to ruin the hairdresser's reputation in town. Pretending to then be the facialist, the VooDoo Princess poisons the Governor's wife before she can spread the word and as she lies on the facial table with cucumbers covering her eyes. A few minutes later, KK stumbles into the murder scene as she arrives in the facial room for her own facial. She discovers the body. The detective is called and interrogates the suspects as The Midlife Gals present her with their card, "The Midlife Gals, Private Dicks, Inc. They offer to help with the investigation.

- It's the last day of the writing sessions for one band's debut album. However the band has not been able to write a single and with one night left, they need to come up with something fast and good. The lead singer, Alice, suggests after some arguing that 'from now on, if anyone wants to say anything it must be sung,' in a desperate attempt to come up with some material. Steve, the guitarist, is so annoyed that he begins to make up a song sarcastically with lyrics meant to continue the argument with Alice. Alice then chimes in for a retort verse as they break into a chorus 'This Band is Done' indicating they mutually intend to break up after the end of this song. However once they finish, the drummer, Martin, applauds making them realize how great the song they just made was. They decide that will be their single and they make up. However when they go to play the song back they can't remember how it goes. They decide they don't need a single and the band is really about the friendship they have and so they play the soup song one last time before deciding to get some coffee and play an open bar like old times.

- It's Jeff Flavin's first day on the job as a cub reporter for the Enquirer. The boss, Archer, places him with lazy reporter Stu Woodrow. Stu detests cubs and treats Jeff badly. Jeff saves a drunken Stu's job by covering convicted racketeer Houseman's escape from prison. Jeff goes to Houseman's sister for a scoop and witnesses the murder of Houseman and an innocent young child. While grateful to Jeff, Stu thinks Jeff is too decent to be a reporter and sends him on a fake story, which results in an angry Archer demoting Jeff. On his own, Jeff goes to the courthouse to see the trail of Marques, accused of Houseman's murder. Jeff, who speaks Spanish, hears the translator, Olmeda, falsely state that Marques confesses to the killing. Jeff tells Archer that he has a story. The problem is that because of the fake story, nobody believes him now.

Tonita proves to be a big hit at her coming-out party set up by Michael's sister Diana, but Michael becomes angry that his family has "won". Tonita realizes the true reason for their marriage and finds comfort with Diana's lover Bob. Diana catches Tonita and Bob together and kills Bob, but Tonita takes the blame and is arrested, for this is the perfect revenge on Michael. Now, Michael realizes that he genuinely loves Tonita.
