- Burner meets and falls for a woman with a secret. Kelly and Hammer try to get recognition for a suicidal man who threw himself on a grenade while serving as a marine but lived while the people he tried to save died. Kelly asks Kate on a date to the retirement party of a General. The Nuggets are evaluated as they go on an "obstacle course" (or sortie) ending with a bombing run.
- Spoon's father comes by with bad news. The Nuggets head out to try landing on an aircraft carrier, a dangerous and difficult skill to master.
- Kelly is informed that the unit has a mission and their liaison officer is Burner. Burner hooks up with Megan. And when a friend of Capone's dies in an accident, he behaves erratically. Kelly tells him he has to put himself together for the mission and gives him a day to do it.
- Someone is trying to kill Kelly and Hammer. Both are shot at, apparently in reprisal for the events of the "Raid on Osirak" episode. Burner and Spoon compete for a prized spot on the "Panthers" while Ice seems to be getting passed over because she is a woman.
- Burner may lose his wings for causing a sonic boom while showing off for two women. Also Kate may lose her bar when an underage woman is found with a drink..
- Kelly's unit is on a mission which they execute perfectly. But Burner gets left behind. Kelly is ready to do what he has to to find him. But the man in charge, tells him, they have to pull out. And Spoon is feeling as if it's his fault that Burner got left behind.
- During a community relations day, a orphaned boy living with his aunt is kidnapped for ransom.
- On the carrier, Kristi Blake, an actress planning to play a female pilot, studies and bunks with Ice. Spoon thinks of resigning. He confides in Ice about his father's cancer. Burner tries to argue Spoon out of resigning.
- Kelly is assigned to train neophyte jet pilots (Nuggets). Hammer, his second in command; Kate, a bar owner; and three nuggets, Burner, Ice and Spoon are introduced.
- Ice's plane has a major mechanical problem during her first solo flight and her confidence is shaken, Burner is covers up a water jet ski injury so he won't be grounded until he is 100% healthy and Spoon and his father's girlfriend, Teri, start falling for each other when they spend time together.
- Breaker's plane suffers a hydraulic failure and she dies trying to land the plane.
- Ice takes her first flight with Kelly as her Instructor Pilot. Burner is grounded by Hammer for losing his temper when a snob hits his motorcycle. Spoon's father visits, surprising Spoon with a girlfriend who is about 2 years younger than Spoon.
- Ice is made Strike Leader for a fiercely competitive bombing exercise against missile and fighter defenses. Spoon is attracted to Gunslinger, a pretty blonde operator of missile defenses. Jackal, still angling to obtain Kelly's command, intends to cheat during the Class Strike. And things escalate personally for Burner as he continues his attempts to help the woman with the abusive boyfriend.
- Swamp has a loss of confidence, both in his flying and when he tries to romance Holly. Burner competes against a new instructor from Top Gun who can't accept losing even though instructors are supposed to be able hold back. Pearly, who was one of Hammer's trainers, is trying to qualify in order to take a fleet assignment, but he seems to have lost his skills.
- The 'Nuggets' head west for "Strike" training. The IP seems to be out to get Spoon for some reason. Burner gets interested in a cowgirl.
- A former Blue Angel leader is now recruiting and he offers Hammer a position on the Blue Angels. He also begins a romance with Kate. Burner and Spoon try to play matchmaker between Kate and Kelly. Meanwhile a retired general who is a fan of Teddy Roosevelt drops by and takes the unit on a fifty mile march with full gear.
- While Hammer and Kelly go on a top secret mission, Burner and Spoon find they have their hands full when they try to look after Kelly's ostensibly prim and proper niece. It is revealed that Hammer was briefly a P.O.W. during the Gulf War.
- A hot shot German pilot shows off and annoys Burner, scares Spoon with his reckless driving and romances Ice. But he has a problem which may ground him. Also Spoon gets the wrong idea when Kate asks him probing questions to plan a surprise birthday party for him.
- The Nuggets practice touch-and-go landings before trying to land on a carrier, Spoon's father returns, a young acquaintance of Kelly's seeks romance with Ice and a sleep deprivation study needs participants.
- Ice's mother shows up without calling and arranges a date with Col. Kelly, not knowing that he is Ice's commanding officer. A private propeller plane strays into military airspace and crashes when Spoon flies too close to it. Spoon is put through the wringer in the subsequent "Mishap Investigation."
- Hammer meets an interesting young man while playing pool at the 'Bucket'. Burner and Spoon get roped into judging the Miss Pensacola contest.
- Spoon gets more involved with Teri, which leads to personal and career heartaches.
- Burner, Hammer and Kelly are on a carrier. Burner's plane loses radio reception and navigation after possibly being struck by lightning during a storm. Because of heavy rain he cannot see the carrier and he may run out of fuel and crash. Back on shore Spoon and Ice nearly become romantic before Capone alerts them about the danger Burner is in, whereupon they rush to base.
- One of Kelly's marines is about compete in a boxing competition. And he appears to be distracted by the girl he's seeing--Kelly's daughter. And Spoon's car is stolen and they find the thief and decide what to do with him.
- As the 'Bandits' continue their combat training, 'Ice' deals with DOD regs and a mishap. 'Burner's' experience flying in the storm leaves him believing in more than his "three things" and wondering why.
- Spoon gets a visit from an old friend whose lies put him in an uncomfortable position. The worthless son of a famed pilot causes problems on a mission led by Spoon and Ice. Capone arranges a photo shoot at the beach house with a bevy of scantily-clad women.
- When fears of a terrorist attack cause a special exercise to be delayed, the assassin sneaks away and becomes a threat to Kelly and Hammer. Kate returns, considering another's marriage proposal when she gets no encouraging signs from Kelly. Spoon and Ice's relationship heats up to the point that Kelly says one of them will have to be reassigned elsewhere.
- Capone's brother comes for a visit and Capone thinks there's more to his visit. Later the FBI shows up looking for him. They tell Capone that his brother went into business with a Russian mobster and his brother crossed him and now he's running from them.
- When Kelly learns that one of his men is struggling to get by that his wife is shoplifting. He decides to go to Washington and to try and get Congress to increase his men's wages. He meets an old friend who works for the Senator who is in charge of that. But he has to contend with a defense contractor who wants them to buy his new device. Problem is they do, there won't be enough left for the wage increase. At the same time, the man whom Kelly is doing this for, gets in trouble when Doc Brandon thinks he is abusing his wife. And his wife turns to Ice for help.
- The unit will be learning Burke's Breach, a combined attack strategem or set of tactics. General Burke, a former mentor of Kelly's, visits the unit, but his strange behavior endangers men during an exercise and Capone's career is threatened. Kelly discovers Burke's behavior may be caused by exposure to chemicals during the Gulf War.

She tells Ice who tells her to report him but she doesn't want to. So when they train Ice takes out her frustrations on the man. She then tells Spoon whose opinion of the man changes. Eventually Kelly learns about it and tries to help Kate.
- After a failed assassination attempt, the Sea Dragons are assigned to protect two rival dignitaries on their way to a very important peace talk summit.
- Missiles are stolen from the base. Schaeffer, a Marine, saves Ice from a fire but when his burning shirt is torn off, a tattoo of a swastika is revealed and he is suspected of the theft. Meanwhile, Teri returns and guilt seems to keep her and Spoon apart. While Teri and Capone are present, Spoon uses a toast that Ice taught him on the night they almost became romantic.
- After Jack Hightower's car is blown up in Cairo, Kelly re-evaluates and decides he wants to be in a combat unit.
- Spoon and Ice go into a convenience store that's when a couple enter and try to rob the place. Spoon manages to get out but Ice is one of the hostages. The police arrive and there's a standoff. Kelly arrives but because of posse comitatus he can't do anything so he can only watch. At the same time Kate is having trouble with the guy who gives her her jukeboxes so Capone tries to help.
- News reports have a boat with Cuban refugees being fired on by Castro's air force, a family whom the Nuggets are socializing with is directly affected, and a Cuban ace who met Kelly in the past is flying unusually close to the Nuggets' training exercises. Also, Paddles has back trouble which may ground him.
- Lt. Col. Kelly is brought up on an Article 32, citing wrongdoing in the case of a subordinate's death. This Marine had just washed out of the 18th MEU due to substandard duty and happened to be a Congresswoman's son.
- Kelly returns to his hometown, Marfa, Texas, to be honored. He discovers two bodies. Back at the base Capone and Spoon talk to recruiters.
- When Spoon's mother is in trouble, financially, so Teri offers to help. And she thinks that an old associate of his father can help. He offers Teri and Spoon a job with him. While Teri wants to accept, Spoon doesn't want to give up being a Marine pilot. When a circuit board on a Hornet is defective, suspicion falls on maintenance Sergeant who installed it. And when other defective circuit boards are discovered and the Sergeant was the one who installed them, Kelly reluctantly relieves the Sergeant of his duties till the matter can be settled. His sister, a lawyer shows up and plans to sue the Marine Corps for singling out her brother because he is black.
- After his daughter is injured in a car accident, Kelly takes her out on an plane trip to a remote cabin but the small plane starts having mechanical problems. They land, but have no way of calling for help and she starts having complications from the first accident and may die. Hammer, Capone and Ice try to find them.
- A Nugget, flying as wingman, shoots down his lead in simulated dogfighting. This is called Blue on Blue. Two women seek Spoon's affections while two pilots pursue Ice.
- The Sea Dragons are given a deadly peace-keeping mission in North Korea and Lt. Col. Kelly helps a distressed American father look for his rebellious daughter who has vanished into the shady night life of South Korea.
- Spoon, Capone and Mad Dog decide to play golf. But it's while they're playing that Mad Dog is recalled to do some work. The guys offer to go back with her to give her a hand. Now a young marine found some unexploded ammo and decide to hold on to them and brings them to the base. When one of them goes off, Spoon and Mad Dog are trapped. When the Fire Chief arrives, he decides to take things slowly. Kelly is worried.

So she asks Kelly and he tries his best to grant the boy's wish. And Maddog meets a guy and hooks up with him but she later learns that he's married to one of the marines under her.

Also former pilot and friend of Kelly's who now works for NASA has arrived. Everyone is assuming she's there to recruit someone for the next shuttle mission. Spoon is hoping he could be considered. But the woman is looking only at the female pilots including Ice. When word gets out Ice and the Air Force pilot are going at it.

And when attempts are made on him he asks Griffin to keep an eye on Janine. Later he learns some Vietnamese are in town so he has them checked out. But he learns they're not the ones. He thinks it's someone else closer.
- When an unstable Marine steals a four million dollar piece of top secret equipment, the Sea Dragons are called in to get it back at any cost. Meanwhile, Kelly has no choice but to dig deeper in order to connect with his estranged daughter, Janine.
