- Andy and Barney have to protect a shipment of gold which will be going through Mayberry on the way to Fort Knox. It's critical that they keep it a secret, but Barney spills the beans immediately and within minutes all of Mayberry knows. A carnival-like atmosphere soon takes hold. The plot thickens when Barney discovers there's no gold in the truck.
- Barney visits the same time as a movie star who's also from Mayberry. When her PR man learns she and Barney dated in school, he has Barney escort her to her new movie's premiere. Unfortunately, Barney thinks he has rekindled an old romance.

He fails to get the permission of the homeowner first, and the owner refuses to let them use his house. The summit entourage arrives in town with no place to hold the meeting.
- After Andy and Helen go exploring in a cave, it collapses behind them. They find another way out, but hear on the radio that Barney has mobilized the town to rescue them. They go back into the cave to save Barney from becoming a laughingstock.
- When Ward and June are away, Beaver and Gilbert play in the car and it ends up rolling down the driveway into the middle of the street. Just as Wally is driving it back, a cop comes by and gives him a ticket for driving without a license, and he has to go to traffic court.
- Arithmetically-challenged Beaver is mystified by a better-than-average grade on his report card, unaware that the dastardly duo, Eddie Haskell and Lumpy Rutherford, altered the card en route to Ward's desk drawer.
- Gomer makes a citizen's arrest of Barney for committing the same traffic violation that Barney just ticketed him for. This causes Barney to overreact, resigning as deputy and demanding a jail sentence in lieu of paying the fine. When Gomer finds out how far it has gone, he tries to come up with a solution.
- Beaver and his friend Gilbert volunteer to collect Community Chest donations from the neighborhood so that June can attend a school open house with Wally. All goes well until the boys stop for ice cream and Beaver puts the money he collected into his back pocket...the one with the hole in it!

- Lucy and Ricky put on a big act for a magazine writer who wants to do an article on the 'real' Ricardos. The writer spends the day with Lucy and plants seeds of doubt about Ricky's fidelity. A stunt by Ricky's publicity agent makes it looks like he is cheating on her.
- Two fun-loving girls from Mount Pilot interrupt Andy and Barney's late-night office work. When Helen and Thelma Lou see them together, they get upset and cancel their dates to the big dance. Barney decides he and Andy will take the fun girls instead.
- Gomer joins the Marines to test himself as a man. Andy drives him to the base and stays around for a while to see how it works out. When he finds out the Sergeant plans to get Gomer sent home, he tries to find a way to get the Sergeant on Gomer's side.

- Lucy and Ethel unknowingly buy identical gowns for their appearance on a televised revue for their women's club. They both agree to return them to the store and buy different ones, but during their performance, each is wearing the original gown.
- Malcolm Merriweather returns to Mayberry, announcing that he plans to live there permanently. Andy gives him the job of school crossing guard after firing Ernest T. Bass from the job for throwing rocks at cars. Ernest T. challenges Malcolm to a fight which he accepts, even though he can't fight.
- Sam Jones has his friend Mario from Italy come to help out on the farm. Mario brings his father and sister along without telling Sam first. When they have a difficult time adjusting to life in Mayberry, Sam has to decide if they can stay in the U.S.
- Annoyed at Ricky's messiness, Lucy divides the apartment into two halves: one for each of them to live in.
- Opie finds a change purse and almost gains $50.
- Lucy is frustrated that Ricky is waiting in Hollywood while MGM tries to find a movie for him to star in. She pretends to be his new agent and confronts the MGM brass, saying he has an offer to do a big Broadway musical. Instead of putting him in a movie right away, MGM releases Ricky from his contract.
- The Ricardos and Mertzes take a marriage quiz. One question involves past romances, and Ricky makes up a story about an old girlfriend from Cuba, Carlotta Romero. When a real Cuban entertainer of the same name is performing in town, Ricky is in trouble.
- Ward decides to teach Wally a real-life lesson in economics by helping him and Beaver invest one hundred dollars in the stock market. But when the nice, solid utility stock recommended by their dad doesn't show much activity, the boys decide to take Eddie Haskell's advice and buy risky, but rising, space tech stock.
- After Andy is profiled in a national sheriff's magazine as the 'Sheriff Without A Gun,' a television production team comes to town to research a possible TV show about Mayberry's sheriff department. Andy suspects something's up when they spend a lot of time checking out the bank.
- A college aide borrows a dead female body from the lab and plants it in his roommate's dorm to try and scare him sober, but the joke becomes disastrous.
- The Darlings sell some land to the county for $300. Briscoe decides it's time to get his boys married off and they spend the day in town looking for brides. After they can't find anyone, they're ready to leave when they see an omen that says the next woman they see will be a bride. Then they see Helen coming down the sidewalk.
- When a band of Gypsies comes to town and starts selling junk to people, Andy tries running them off. They put a curse on the town, saying it will not rain again until they are allowed to come back. When there is no rain for over a week, the town turns against Andy.
- Barney gets a chain letter that predicts bad luck it he doesn't make copies and send them to friends. To prove to Andy that he's not superstitious, he doesn't send any. A constant stream of back luck is the result. Things look bad when he has a marksmanship test coming up, which he has to pass in order to keep his job.
- A visiting preacher tells the town to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. He inspires everyone to have an old-time band concert. With all the stress of rebuilding the broken-down bandstand and getting ragged uniforms ready, they wear themselves out.
- Tim is a talented musician and producer living in Florida who is addicted to crack cocaine. Tim's parents kicked him out of their house previously and refused to participate in the show initially. He lives with his singer-girlfriend Madyson, her parents and younger brother. He's the producer and drummer for her band, but his addiction is risking her chances for a musical career. When he needs crack and doesn't have it, he becomes violently abusive to Madyson and her family. At the intervention, Tim's parents sit in solidarity with Madyson and her family to try to convince Tim to get help.
