The whole scene depicts the interior of a railway compartment peopled by those who certainly are not in the habit of taking their pleasures sadly, a criticism we are supposed to lay ourselves open to by our neighbors. The five occupants; pursue their antics quite oblivious to the evident hustling they receive from one another, perhaps one can understand the Harry and Harriett couple, but the evident stranger is set upon in a very unenjoyable manner, although provocations of much mirth to the onlooker.
