Sex & Nudity

  • Some nude or partially nude statues shown throughout. Nothing too detailed or explicit.
  • At a party for Charles Kane, there are several women that are scantily clad.
  • There are a few scenes which includes the buttocks and breasts of several nude statues, though this is non-sexual.
  • Some of the banter between Charles Kane and his first wife could be considered sexual, although it's very subtle. Later, an affair is implied between Kane and his (soon-to-be) second wife, resulting in scandal and loss of public elections.

Violence & Gore

  • When looking at different newspapers, Kane talks about a headline saying a woman is missing and is presumed dead, it is a brief scene with not much effect on the plot.
  • A man slaps a woman in the face.
  • A man threatens to break someone's neck.
  • A boy shoves a sled into a man's stomach, knocking him into the snow.
  • After his second wife walks out on him, Kane goes berserk and tears her bedroom apart.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A man asks another man to smuggle some cigars into a hospital for him, and to trick the nurses into thinking it is a tube of toothpaste, the scene is played for laughs.
  • Smoking and some casual drinking throughout

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A scene transition features an unexpected appearance of a bird, accompanied by a loud and sudden squawk.
  • Most outside night shots of Xanadu are very surreal and extremely dark and foggy, and might be somewhat disturbing to some.
  • Orson Welles acts as the character of Charlie Kane in Citizen Kane really well, so the character of Kane's transition in personality may shock some but is not really scary due to the movie's genre.
