Burgess Meredith, an actual Lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps at the time of filming (He later reached the rank of Captain.), portrayed a Private and was promoted to Corporal late in the movie.
There are two versions of this film: One that lists cast members Burgess Meredith and Ronald Reagan normally, and one that lists them as "Lieutenant Burgess Meredith" and "Lieutenant Ronald Reagan". It should be noted, though, that both were assigned to the Army's Motion Picture Unit and never saw active duty or even went overseas while in uniform.
Fourth short film produced by Warner Bros. for the U.S. Army Air Corps, the previous three being Winning Your Wings (1942), Men of the Sky (1942), and Beyond the Line of Duty (1942).
The bomber featured in the film is a Consolitated B-24 Liberator. Over 18,500 were produced from 1940 to 1945, making it the most numerous American military aircraft ever made.
Available as an extra on the Warner Brothers DVD of Objective, Burma! (1945) and later in "Errol Flynn Adventures" box set on same disc with Northern Pursuit (1943).
