Jane and Duke (alias Capt. Blake) accidently meet in Vera Cruz while chasing flim-flam man Fiske. Soon the local Inspector General (El Gato) is involved. Fiske races across Mexico, pursued by Jane and Duke, trailed by the real Capt. Blake. The initial scenes are set in the city of Veracruz, but were filmed in Tehuacán. While the action is still taking place in Veracruz, you can clearly see the name Tehuacán on a building. See more »
This above average crime drama holds one's interest due to good writing, excellent cinematography, and Robert Mitchum. The film must have been subsidized by the Mexican Tourist Bureau, so fetching are the scenes of the Mexican countryside. Ramon Novarro is excellent as the craftily sly police chief, and Willima Bendix puts in a good turn. Worth watching.
