Sex & Nudity

  • One forced kiss.
  • The forced kiss was part of an "agreement" between a knight and his female prisoner in which she would give herself (sexually) to the knight in exchange for the freedom of the other prisoners he held, mainly the leading hero who was caught trying to save her.
  • A knight and his lady princess reunite during the opening hour of the film and share a 50s-styled "passionate" kiss.
  • A knight and captive princess have an argument. She slaps him, causing him to say he'll have to mend her manners and suggests it will be a pleasure to do so.

Violence & Gore

  • A besieged castle sequence is full of fighting typical to a 50's movie. A few men are hit by arrows-no blood. The jousting scene has only the jousting itself. We see a little blood at one point. Some men are stabbed by swords.
  • At the closing moments of a trial by combat, a knight is struck with an axe. We see the first hit for just 2 seconds before he goes down and is hit again off-camera. Afterwards, he has a little blood on his chest where he was "struck".

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The big attack on the castle and the final fight would have seemed intense in 1952, but not after the ramped-up action standards of the 1960s.
  • At one point during a sword fight, a man is thrust into a fire, and we hear a scream. Nothing more is shown.
  • During another sword fight on a burning staircase, a man falls through the wooden floor into a fire.
