Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • Several creepy characters attack Prince Phillip; they tie him up and gag him. He ends up in a dungeon chained to a wall.
  • Maleficent places a spell on baby Aurora that states she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel at age 16 and die. This eventually happens.
  • Maleficent turns into a giant fire breathing dragon and attacks Prince Phillip. She surrounds him with fire and snaps at him with her teeth. He eventually kills her by throwing his sword at her; it strikes her in the heart (blood is shown) and she falls off a cliff to her doom.
  • The witch's creepy creatures try to stop the prince's escape by throwing rocks at him, firing arrows, or pouring boiling water on him. Fairies turn the rocks into bubbles, the arrows into harmless flowers, and the water into a rainbow.
  • A crow is turned to stone. Non graphic and non frightening

Profanity

  • Some mild name calling, as well as one use of "hell" as a place.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A scene involves the kings drinking wine and singing, while the bard passes out after he sneaks too much wine.
  • An alcohol drink is shown in one scene but no one is shown drinking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • When Maleficant first appears to Aurora you see her glowing eyes and the outline of her in the dark room, in a very creepy way. This will definitely frighten young children.
  • Maleficent's minions may be creepy to some kids, but they're sometimes clumsy and not very bright.
  • When the fairies get Phillip out of Maleficent's prison, Maleficent's bird very suddenly shows up and sounds the alarm. This may startle some viewers.
  • The character of Maleficent overall is scary, especially for younger viewers.
  • The spinning wheel scene is scary,
