- Captain Hook: But Peter threw me hand to a crocodile, who happened to be passing by. And that croc liked the taste of me hand so much, he's followed me ever since. From land to land, from sea to sea, he follows the ship - licking his lips for the rest of me.
- Smee: Well, in a way, it is a sort of compliment.
- Captain Hook: [bonking Smee on the head] Well, I want no such compliment.
- Narrator: Second to the right, and straight on till morning. That is the way to Never Land. If you close your eyes, you will see a pool of lovely, pale colors. If you squeeze them tighter, the pool will take on different shapes, and the colors will become brighter, so bright, that in a moment they'll go on fire. And in that moment, just before they do, you will see Never Land, a magic island on whose shores children are forever at play.
- Wendy: Peter, what are your exact feelings for me?
- Peter Pan: Those of a devoted son, Wendy.
- Wendy: [Annoyed] I thought so.
- [She sits further away from him]
- Peter Pan: You're so strange. Tinker Bell's just the same. There's something she wants to be to me, but she says it's not my mother.
- [Tinker Bell replies "You silly ass" in fairy language]
- Wendy: I almost agree with her!
- Captain Hook: No little children love me. I'm told they play at Peter Pan, and the strongest always chooses to be Peter. They force the baby to be Hook. The baby - that's where the canker gnaws. I'm told they find Smee lovable. How can I break it to him that they find him lovable?
- [first lines]
- Narrator: Some say that as we grow up, we become different people at different ages, but I don't believe this. I think we remain the same throughout, merely passing in these years from one room, to another, but always in the same house. If we unlock the rooms of the far past, we can look in and see ourselves beginning to become you and me.
- Wendy, John: [dressed up like their parents and dancing] One-two-three, one-two-three, one-two-three, one-two-three.
- Peter Pan: [singing] I'm flying... / Look at me, / Way up high, / Suddenly, / Here am I, / I'm flying.
- Captain Hook: The game is up. Those boys have found a mother.
- Smee: What's a mother?
- [Hook bonks Smee on the head]
- Mrs. Darling: No, Nana. Don't disturb the master. He uses your house as his home, out of remorse. I'll wake him when it's time for his dinner.
- Tiger Lily: [the Indians bump into each other and scream] Shhhh! Make-um too much noise! Listen to Tiger Lily... When on warpath: SHHHHHHHHH!
- Captain Hook: [pausing, out of breath, during the duel with Peter] 'Tisn't fair! I say it as though it were my last breath - it isn't fair! Pan, who and what art thou?
- Peter Pan: I am youth. I am joy. I am freedom!
- Tiger Lily: Bird might be omen!
- Indian: Good or bad omen?
- Tiger Lily: [shrugs] Ancient Indian proverb... when in doubt... RUN!
- Peter Pan: [Tinkerbell tells him what's happened] The Indians have been defeated? And Wendy and the boys have been captured by the pirates? I'll rescue her! I'll rescue her!
- [Tinkerbell notices the poisoned medicine]
- Peter Pan: What? That's just my medicine.
- [Tinkerbell protests]
- Peter Pan: Poison? Nonsense, who could've poisoned it? I promised Wendy I'd take that, and I'm going to just as soon as I sharpen my dagger.
- [Tinkerbell drinks the medicine]
- Peter Pan: Tink! You drunk my medicine!
- [Tinkerbell flies about slowly and grows dim]
- Peter Pan: What's the matter with you? It was poison, wasn't it? You drank it to save my life. Tink? Dear Tink! You're dying! Your voice is so low now I can hardly hear you. What's that? You believe that you could get well again... if children believed in fairies.
- Wendy: Peter, how old are you?
- Peter Pan: I don't know. I ran away from home the day I was born.
- Wendy: Ran away? Why?
- Peter Pan: Because I heard father and mother discussing what I was to be when I became a man. I want to always be a little boy and have fun! So I ran away, and I've lived a long time among the fairies.
- Wendy: Peter! You really know fairies?
- Peter Pan: Yes, but they're nearly all dead now. You see, Wendy, when the first baby laughed for the very first time, the laugh broke up into a thousand pieces of light, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies. So now every time a new baby is born, its first laugh becomes a fairy.
- Wendy: Peter, why did you come to our nursery window?
- Peter Pan: To hear a story. None of us know any stories.
- Wendy: How perfectly awful.
- Peter Pan: Wendy, your mother was telling you such a lovely story.
- Wendy: Oh? Which story is it?
- Peter Pan: It was about the prince... and he couldn't find the lady who wore the glass slipper.
- Wendy: Ohhh... that was Cinderella, he found her, and they lived happily ever after.
- Peter Pan: I'm glad!
- [dashes to the window]
- Wendy: Where are you going?
- Peter Pan: To tell the other boys!
- Wendy: Oh please don't go! I know lots of stories!
- Peter Pan: Do you?
- Wendy: Oh, the stories I could tell the other boys!
- Mrs. Darling: What are you doing in my old hat?
- Wendy: We're doing an act.
- John: Yes, we're playing you and Father, I'm Father. A little less noise there, a little less noise!
- Michael: Mother, they never let me play Father, and they never let me dance.
- Mrs. Darling: Well, we'll soon fix that.
- [takes John's hat off and puts it on Michael]
- Mrs. Darling: There. May I have this dance, Mr. Darling?
- Mrs. Darling: George, we must keep Nana.
- [whispers]
- Mrs. Darling: I'll tell you why.
- [to the kids]
- Mrs. Darling: Get ready for bed, children, now run along...
- [children leave]
- Mrs. Darling: George, tonight I saw a face at the window.
- Mr. Darling: Face at the window, two floors up?
- Mrs. Darling: It was the face of a little boy, he was trying to get in.
- Mr. Darling: That's impossible.
- Mrs. Darling: But that's not the first time I've seen that boy.
- Mr. Darling: Oh?
- Mrs. Darling: The first time was a week ago, I remember because it was Nana's night off... I was sitting over there by the fire, when suddenly I felt a draft, as though the window were open... I looked... and I saw that boy in the room, I screamed. Just then Nana came in and sprang at him at once, the boy leapt through the window, Nana closed it quickly, but it was too late to catch him.
- Mr. Darling: I thought so.
- Mrs. Darling: But wait! *He* escaped, but his shadow hadn't time to get out. I hid it...
- [takes it out of Wendy's dresser drawer]
- Mrs. Darling: I rolled it up, and here it is.
- Mr. Darling: Aha! Hmmm... Well, I don't think it's anyone we know, though he does look a scoundrel.
- Mrs. Darling: You know, George, I think he comes back trying to get his shadow.
- Mr. Darling: I dare say...
- Mrs. Darling: But wait, I haven't told you all. The boy was not quite alone; he was accompanied by... Well, I don't know how to describe it... by a bolt of light no bigger than my fist that darted around the room, like a living thing.
- Mr. Darling: This is most unusual.
- Mrs. Darling: George, what can it mean?
- Mr. Darling: What indeed? What indeed?
- Wendy: [about Neverland] Peter, what does it look like?
- Peter Pan: It's an island, Wendy.
- Wendy: A large one?
- Peter Pan: No, quite small, and nicely crammed, so there's hardly any room between one adventure and the next.
- Wendy: Oh, it sounds wonderful. Who else lives there, Peter?
- Peter Pan: The Lost Boys.
- Wendy: Who are they?
- Peter Pan: They're the children that fall out of their carriages when the nurse is looking the other way. If they're not claimed in 7 days, they're sent far away to Neverland... I'm Captain.
- Peter Pan: [singing] I have a place where dreams are born / And time is never planned. / It's not on any chart / You must find it with your heart. / Never-Never Land. / It might be miles beyond the moon, / Or right there where you stand. / Just keep an open mind, / And then suddenly you'll find / Never-Never Land. / You'll have a treasure if you stay there / More precious far than gold. / For once you have found your way there / You can never, never grow old. / So that's my home where dreams are born / And time is never planned. / Just think of lovely things / And your heart will fly on wings / Forever... in Never-Never Land.
- Tiger Lily: Peter Pan is the sun and the moon and the stars!
- [all cheer]
- Tiger Lily: Peter Pan is the love of delight!
- [all cheer]
- Tiger Lily: Peter Pan is the bravest and strongest of all boys!
- [all cheer]
- Peter Pan: Yes, I know. I don't say it to boast, it's because I cannot tell a lie.
- Peter Pan: [singing; repeated lines] So naturally... /When I discover the cleverness of a remarkable me... /How can I hide it when deep down inside it just tickles me so?/Then I gotta let go... /And crow.
- Mr. Darling: [to Mrs. Darling] I warn you of this, Mother, that if this tie does not go round my neck, we don't go out to dinner tonight. And if we don't go out to dinner tonight, I never go to the office again. And if I never go to the office again, you and I will starve, and our children will be flung into the streets.
- Narrator: That was the last time the girl Wendy ever saw Peter. Years came and went without bringing the careless boy. Wendy tried, for Peter's sake, not to have growing pains, but, you see, all children, except Peter, grow up. Then... one night, a long time after, when it was once more spring-cleaning time, the stars blew open the nursery windows.
- Peter Pan: Hello, Wendy!
- Wendy Grown-up: Peter!
- Peter Pan: Where's John?
- Wendy Grown-up: He's not here anymore.
- Peter Pan: Is Michael asleep?
- Wendy Grown-up: Yes! No! That's not Michael.
- Peter Pan: Is it a new one?
- Wendy Grown-up: Yes!
- Peter Pan: Boy or girl?
- Wendy Grown-up: It's a girl.
- Peter Pan: What's her name?
- Wendy Grown-up: Jane.
- Peter Pan: Jane.
- Wendy Grown-up: Peter, are you expecting me to fly away with you?
- Peter Pan: Of course! That's why I came. Have you forgotten it's spring cleaning time?
- Wendy Grown-up: I can't come. I've forgotten how to fly.
- Peter Pan: I'll teach you again.
- Wendy Grown-up: No, Peter! Don't waste your fairy dust on me.
- Peter Pan: What's the matter?
- Wendy Grown-up: I'll turn up the lights and you can see for yourself.
- Peter Pan: No! Don't turn up the lights! What is it?
- Wendy Grown-up: I'm old Peter.
- Peter Pan: Old? What do you mean old?
- Wendy Grown-up: I'm ever so much more than 20. I grew up a long time ago.
- Peter Pan: You promised not to.
- Wendy Grown-up: I couldn't help it. I'm a married woman now.
- Peter Pan: No, you're not! No, you're not!
- Wendy Grown-up: Yes! And the little girl in that bed is my child.
- Peter Pan: No, she's not! No, she's not!
