Aaron Taylor-Johnson has gotten support from a former James Bond actor after rumors the Bullet Train star got offered to be the next 007 agent.
George Lazenby, who portrayed Bond in the 1969 film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, gave his seal of approval to Taylor-Johnson following reports he was in contention for the role.
According to a recent TMZ report, Lazenby said Taylor-Johnson would be able to “handle the stunts and all the ladies who love a man in a tux.”
Lazenby noted that he doesn’t think Taylor-Johnson has the role yet because “when he auditioned for the part back in the 1960s, he went through a bunch of different tests and auditions before he won the role.”
James Bond was most recently played by English actor Daniel Craig, who took over the role in 2006’s Casino Royale. Craig would continue portraying the spy in 2008’s Quantum of Solace, 2012’s Skyfall,...

Sir Sean Connery is popularly known for being the first actor to portray the famous fictional British secret agent James Bond on-screen. He starred in a total of seven James Bond movies from 1962 to 1983, with Never Say Never Again being his last appearance as the 007 agent.
The Scottish actor was regarded as one of the finest actors in the industry and for his service to drama he was made a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in France and a Knight by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000. Not only was Sean Connery a brilliant actor, but he was also one of the brave ones who faced a real-life mobster with no hesitance on his face.

Sean Connery's return to James Bond in 1971 with Diamonds Are Forever added confusion to the franchise's continuity. Despite mixed feelings toward the end of his tenure, Connery is often hailed as the best actor to play Bond. The introduction of Daniel Craig as Bond in 2006's Casino Royale marked a much-needed reset for the franchise's timeline.
Sean Connery quickly became synonymous with the James Bond franchise, but his 1971 entry into the film series was arguably the beginning of when Bond continuity started to become very confusing. Connery is tied with Roger Moore for appearances as the famous spy, but an asterisk next to one of Connery's Bond films arguably hands the title to his competitor. Despite originating the role, Sean Connery's time spent as James Bond is a little more nebulous than most, and so the franchise's continuity takes a hit as a result.

The International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C. explores the legacy of global espionage, making its history legible and compelling to a contemporary audience. So, it’s fitting that its latest exhibit displays a dozen-and-a-half vehicles associated with the person who may be, oxymorons aside, the world’s best-known fictitious super-spy.
This show, “Bond In Motion,” opens March 1 and features iconic cars from 007’s six decades. These include the self-cloaking Aston Martin Vanquish from Die Another Day, the remote-controlled BMW 750iL from Tomorrow Never Dies, the surface-to-air missile-firing BMW Z8 from The World is Not Enough, and, perhaps the world’s most famous car, the machine gun–concealing, oil slick–emitting, license plate–rotating, seat-ejecting Aston Martin DB5 used in Goldfinger.
But it also includes lesser-known Bond vehicles, like a snowmobile from Die Another Day, a three-wheeled, motorcycle-based Tuk-Tuk from Octopussy, a hang-glider from Moonraker, and a submarine from Diamonds are Forever,...

Playing James Bond is often viewed as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, coveted by actors worldwide. However, American actors have consistently been denied the chance to portray this iconic character on screen. Whether due to contractual constraints or the character’s British nationality, Bond has been portrayed by actors from various backgrounds, including Scottish, Irish, Australian, and English, but never American.
Despite this barrier, there have been moments when American actors nearly became James Bond, with some even signing contracts with the production house.

Back to the Future teaches us that traditions may not always be what they seem over time. An American actor was cast as James Bond, breaking a long-standing tradition twice. John Gavin was set to play James Bond in Diamonds are Forever, but Sean Connery returned instead.
Movie Legend: An American actor was cast to play James Bond, and even signed an official studio contract!
A key aspect of the iconic film, Back to the Future, is that when Marty McFly sees his mother as a teenager, he learns that all of these rules and beliefs that she had repeated to him his whole life were mostly just hogwash, and that his mother didn't believe in any of them when she was actually his age. That is a powerful lesson about how often "traditions" weren't actually traditions until they were long divorced from the original intent.
I mention this because...

Bond 26 faces a challenge in living up to past success and the legacy of Daniel Craig's reinvention of the character. The new Bond film's delay suggests careful planning, but risks losing momentum in a rapidly changing industry. The future Bond actor must navigate high expectations, evolving storytelling, and stiff competition in the spy genre.
James Bond is one of the most enduring franchises in movie history, but making Bond 26 as successful as past iterations is going to be a challenge. Daniel Craig, the last actor to take up the mantle of 007, reshaped the character of Bond in many ways, as did the films he starred in. Audience members have high expectations for who will be the next actor to embody the role, as well as the tonal shift the next film needs to take to stay relevant.
Much of the decision-making process behind Bond 26 remains shrouded in mystery,...

After a few years in limbo, the BAFTAs finally found a host to replace the much-missed Stephen Fry in David Tennant. The Doctor Who actor proved an amiable and funny emcee, although much of his humor would have gone way over the non-Brits in the audience, starting with a lengthy filmed skit riffing on his BBC TV series Staged, co-starring Michael Sheen. (You can watch it above.)
It was a night of surprises, not especially pleasant ones for the teams behind Barbie and Killers of the Flower Moon, and there were no egregious upsets. Neither were there any of the usual technical nightmares that have plagued the event in the past.
Instead, there were lots of low-key but memorable moments, like Oppenheimer’s Robert Downey Jr., dressed in a gray tail suit to collect his Best Supporting Actor award recalling his life in 30 seconds.
Da’Vine Joy Randolph was similarly charming on accepting her Best Supporting Actress award, swooning over presenter Chiwetel Ejiofor and bringing her Holdovers co-star Paul Giamatti to tears when she told him, “I cry every time I see your name.” Equally emotional were June Givanni, receiving this year’s Outstanding Contribution award; Samantha Morton, whose BFI Fellowship was awarded after filmed testimony from Tom Cruise; and the whole audience, who went wild for Still’s Michael J. Fox who handed out the Best Film award to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
Wonka star Keegan-Michael Key, presenting, sustained a surprisingly funny attempt to pretend to be British, and, taking the first award of the night for Best Original Screenplay, husband and wife team Justine Triet and Arthur Harari joked that their murderous marital drama Anatomy of a Fall had taken on a life of its own.
All night, speeches were crisp and clean, with only the teams behind The Zone of Interest and 20 Days in Mariupol bringing politics into the conversation, even after Tennant gave the go-ahead by mentioning the recent murder of Alexei Navalny, subject of last year’s Best Documentary winner.
The musical numbers left a lot to be desired. Sophie Ellis-Bextor performed her Saltburn showstopper “Murder on the Dancefloor,” which is more than a few rungs down from Shirley Bassey doing “Diamonds Are Forever” in 2022. Meanwhile, Hannah Waddingham doing a slowed-down version of Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” wasn’t quite what the particularly touching obituary sequence was crying out for. By far the worst of all, though, was a comedy routine by Nick Mohammed performing as a sweaty light entertainer called Mr. Swallow. We must never think or speak of it again.

The success of "The Spy Who Loved Me" was crucial for the James Bond franchise to continue, and set a high bar for future entries. Richard Kiel's Jaws in "The Spy Who Loved Me" was inspired by his previous role as Reace in the movie "Silver Streak." Kiel played two more versions of Jaws in other movies after "Moonraker," including "Inspector Gadget" and "Aces Go Places 3."
Possibly the most memorable henchman in the James Bond series made his debut in a completely unrelated action movie. The '70s was a turning point for the James Bond movies. Sean Connery officially bowed out from the Eon series with Diamonds Are Forever, with Roger Moore inheriting the role. Moore brought a more comedic energy to the character, though the likes of The Man with the Golden Gun still saw him trying to inject some of Connery's machismo in certain scenes.

James Bond 26 should break canon to bring back Ana de Armas' Paloma, as her character stole the show in No Time To Die. Paloma's return may cause continuity issues but would be worth it, considering her unique and memorable role. Ana de Armas deserves to play Paloma in Bond 26 and could be a significant part of James Bond's future.
James Bond 26 must break canon to bring back one Daniel Craig era star, and a 2024 action movie will prove why. The next installment of the James Bond franchise will be without Daniel Craig, who played Bond in five movies over a 15-year period. Daniel Craig's James Bond death in No Time To Die confirms the actor will be stepping away from the role and allowing a new actor to take the mantle. Alongside casting a new Bond, the other classic supporting roles will likely all be recast, as has been the case over the years.

Reeling with sorrow and anger at the murder of his son, the mafioso vows to destroy his child’s killer. Sean Connery was chosen to play Indiana Jones' father, Henry Jones Sr., in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade because of his iconic performance as James Bond. Connery's portrayal of Henry Jones Sr. steals the show, as he perfectly embodies the character's goofy and clumsy nature while still hinting at his Bond-esque charisma. Connery turned down a role in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull because it wasn't big enough, although he later admitted to enjoying the film.

Bond actors are only as good as their iconic villains. Each Bond actor has forgettable and memorable villains, with Timothy Dalton's Franz Sanchez standing out as one of the most brutal. Revered and reviled U.S. diplomat Henry Kissinger, whose death at 100 on Nov. 29 was met with the widespread view that his realpolitik was responsible for some of this country’s worst global war crimes, loved American celebrity — both his own, an expression of state power, as well as that of others, especially performers. He was “the ultimate starfucker,” noted Daniel Drezner, professor of international politics at the Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, in an appraisal published earlier this year on the occasion of Kissinger’s centennial.
Prior to meeting President Richard Nixon in 1967, Kissinger made frequent trips to Santa Monica to consult with the Rand Corporation, a global policy think tank. But after being appointed as national security adviser by the newly elected president in 1969, his profile skyrocketed — and the glitz of Hollywood was within reach. There are countless ways to enjoy the James Bond series, and every 007 aficionado has their preferred method. And they'll talk your ear off about it. Some suggest starting with the highlights, the best of the best, and then doubling back to fill in the gaps. It's the most fun way to do it. Others will tell you to take a deep breath, lean into the wind, and just watch the whole shebang straight through in chronological order of release. It's the most rewarding way to do it (even though you'll suffer through some serious stinkers).
A similar logic applies to each individual Bond era. Some, like Timothy Dalton's brisk run as the world's most dashing secret agent, are over in the blink of an eye. Sean Connery's portrayal of James Bond has left an indelible mark on cinematic history, elevating the franchise to unprecedented success. Many other actors were considered for the role of James Bond before Sean Connery, including Michael Caine, Adam West, and Cary Grant. Behind-the-scenes facts, such as Christopher Lee almost playing Dr. No and Orson Welles almost playing Goldfinger, provide intriguing "what-if" moments in cinema history.
For better or for worse, many dimensions of some of the first James Bond movies starring Sean Connery were almost completely different from what eventually turned out to make it into theaters. These areas include actors who could have taken the helm as Bond, played villains, stood in as Bond girls, or even belted out some of the signature Bond movie theme songs. Throughout the more than two dozen Bond films, some of the most memorable have been among the first few films featuring Connery in the titular role.

Few fictional characters don't require an introduction. James Bond is one of them.
Across 25 films, produced over 60-plus years, Ian Fleming's debonair, dangerous, and dashing spy has been at the center of a cinematic legacy that defies the odds. Perhaps only Sherlock Holmes offers comparison -- a character so iconic, so popular, so fully-formed, but also so flexible that it's impossible to imagine the modern pop culture landscape with him. Agent 007 set the standard. And then resets it every decade or so.
Of course, a character this important (to both fans and the producers crafting his movies) needs an actor capable of filling that tux and wielding that pistol. And here's the truth: There has never been a bad Bond actor. Sure, there have been plenty of terrible James Bond movies, but no actor has actually embarrassed themselves or the franchise. They've all shown up. They all understood the assignment.

Sean Connery's love/hate relationship with the James Bond role led him to quit the franchise twice, as he grew tired of the fame, pressure, and being typecast. Despite leaving after the fifth film, Connery returned to play Bond in Diamonds Are Forever after George Lazenby's departure, using his salary to establish the Scottish International Education Trust. Connery turned down another return in Live and Let Die, stating that after playing 007 six times, his "obligation to play James Bond" had to end, giving his approval to Roger Moore as the perfect Bond. However, he did make one final return in the non-canon Never Say Never Again in 1983.

There’s a lot to watch on Prime Video in October and, as you may have guessed, there’s spooky stuff galore in amongst Prime’s usual rotation of extensive library content.
In the movie Totally Killer, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka travels back in time to the 1980s to stop a serial killer. Then there’s Make Me Scream, a Halloween special that challenges celebrities to “a gruesome game of terror.” Renfield will also be streaming on the service for anyone who’s been dying (muahahaha!) to catch the Nic Cage Dracula film.
Outside of Prime Video’s more creepy fare, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods will debut, Upload will be back for a third season, and new film Awareness should scratch your sci-fi itch. Meanwhile, for Frasier heads – those who consider themselves utterly Frasier-pilled – all eleven seasons of the Cheers spinoff show will be streaming at the touch of a button.

Of all the James Bond movies, "The Man with the Golden Gun" isn't the most beloved. Debuting to lackluster reviews in 1974, following the success that was '73's "Live and Let Die," Roger Moore's sophomore outing as Bond failed to dazzle audiences who were growing weary of the franchise.
The producers had a rough time replacing Sean Connery, who'd come to define the character with his run as England's greatest spy, before departing the series and being replaced by Aussie actor George Lazenby. While Lazenby did a solid job in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," he too left the role after his one and only appearance, after which Connery returned for the less than stellar "Diamonds Are Forever."
Unfortunately, Connery would once again leave the role that helped launch his career following this brief return, clearing the way for Roger Moore to take on the mantle with "Live and Let Die.

There are few casting decisions in cinema history as important or impactful than that of Sean Connery as James Bond in "Dr. No." Ian Fleming's novels introduced us to the now-iconic MI6 spy 007, but it wasn't until 1962, when the first cinematic adaptation of those texts arrived, that the world at large came to know Bond, James Bond. Connery's casting is, perhaps, more than any other part of Terrence Young's seminal film, credited for its success. And even though Connery was a not terribly well-known actor at the time, he had a couple of demands that needed to be met before agreeing to take the part.
Published in 2015, Matthew Field and Ajay Chowdhury's book "Some Kind of Hero" chronicles the history of the "James Bond" films in great detail. In covering "Dr. No," the book contains an excerpt from an interview with Connery, who recalled how his journey as 007 began.

Being an international super spy comes with its share of drawbacks, which apparently include upsetting censors around the world. While James Bond has faced numerous censorship struggles throughout his more than 60-year on-screen run, he's often had a particular issue in his home country. For example, the original ending of 1971's "Diamonds Are Forever" was a little too S&m for the British censors, and was initially supposed to depict Jill St. John's Tiffany Case being tied to a bed by the charmingly bizarre Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd (Bruce Glover and Putter Smith respectively). That was very quickly nixed by UK censors who felt it was a little too kinky even for Bond.
But kink was less of a concern for the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) than violence. In a 2006 interview with Caped Wonder, "Diamonds" writer Tom Mankiewicz explained how "largely, the Brits cared a great...

Never Say Never Again was voted the worst James Bond movie, but this claim is debatable, as many of the franchise's films have flaws. A UK poll ranked Skyfall as the best James Bond movie, and Never Say Never Again as the worst, but the latter's unofficial status and production issues may have influenced this. Never Say Never Again is not even the worst Bond movie starring Sean Connery, with Diamonds Are Forever and Thunderball being notably harder to watch.
According to a UK poll, 1983's Never Say Never Again is the worst James Bond movie, but this claim is debatable. We’ve seen Stephen King appear in tons of his story’s adaptations, but he also showed up in things not associated with him like Sons of Anarchy. Sure, you get athletes that try acting, some that are even successful, but how about our beloved horror hosts? Many of them only stayed on the critique end of the movie spectrum but a couple have made the jump. Joe Bob Briggs appeared in a segment of the recent Scare Package as well as a deleted scene from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 but never got the spotlight in his own feature length film.

To legions of James Bond fans, there is only one true Agent 007: the legendary Sean Connery. Connery’s early Bond films — Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, and Diamonds Are Forever — established the template for the suave, debonair, and resourceful secret agent that has been maintained through all of the films (and stars) that have followed. As successful as he was playing Bond, though, the late actor once told us that, in real life, he didn’t think he had what it takes to be a good spy. Spectre, Smersh, and Quantum are all organizations within the James Bond franchise, with Spectre being the longest-standing. They have evolved over the years along with the change in Bond actors and the socio-political climate. Spectre is a global terrorist organization that operates under the disguise of aiding refugees. It has had a significant presence in multiple Bond films and seeks world domination on behalf of third-party nations. Smersh, originally a Soviet counter-intelligence agency, was replaced by Spectre in the film adaptations of Ian Flemming's novels due to its political neutrality. Quantum, introduced in the Daniel Craig era, is a terrorist cell within Spectre and has its own connections and history within the franchise.
Between Spectre, Smersh and Quantum it can be confusing to keep all the organizations in the James Bond franchise straight. In a film series that's lasted for seven decades, these antagonistic organizations have gone through the same metamorphosis as Bond,...

It’s been 50 years since Roger Moore debuted in the role of James Bond, so it’s the perfect time to look back on what his movies got right about the 007 mythos – and what they got wrong. From Live and Let Die to A View to a Kill, Moore starred in a total of seven Bond movies, more than any other 007 actor. Whereas Sean Connery’s Bond movies received near-universal praise from critics, the Moore movies were met with a more mixed reception. Some of them were highly acclaimed, like The Spy Who Loved Me, while others were widely panned, like Moonraker and Octopussy.

James Bond is all about espionage, and it turns out that original Bond actor Sean Connery was able to lie to fans for decades. Connery first took on the role of Ian Flemming's super spy in 1962 for Dr. No, which was quickly followed by a sequel just about every year until 1967 with From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, and You Only Live Twice. George Lazenby took over the role for On Her Majesty's Secret Service but then Connery resumed playing 007 in Diamonds Are Forever followed by the unofficial Thunderball remake Never Say Never Again a decade later.
For many fans, Connery still epitomizes everything about what makes James Bond such a popular character. He could be charming as well as tough and the Scottish actor seemed to be right at home in the nice suits and fast cars of the elite spy world. But Connery was hiding something from viewers,...

James Bond Poster Art Imagines Sean Connery Starring in The Divisive On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
Original James Bond poster art reimagines On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, with Sean Connery in the role. Connery is the original Bond and played the English spy in six Eon Bond movies, from 1962’s Dr. No to 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever. Connery left the role officially following You Only Live Twice in 1967 and was replaced by George Lazenby, whose sole Bond credit was On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in 1967. Eventually, Connery returned one last time with Diamonds, with many Bond fans wondering what could have been if the suave Scot had played the role instead of Lazenby.
One artist created a poster art based on the original Japanese artwork for the movie, but with Connery replacing Lazenby as Bond. Twitter user Sean Longmore posted their work with the caption, “We’ve got all the time in the world,” the most iconic line from the movie. He also labeled the work as “My ‘what if?...

Anticipation is high for the next iteration of James Bond, but the 26th movie in the franchise needs to reckon with the series’ ongoing struggle with tone. The James Bond character has been popular since his theatrical film debut in 1962, with the franchise being the second-longest running in film history, behind Godzilla. However, it’s this same longevity that bogs the James Bond franchise down in questions of its tone. With such a substantial legacy to uphold, the questions of who James Bond is, how he ought to act, and how serious the movies should be, weigh heavily on the shoulders of Bond 26.
The James Bond franchise has undergone numerous transformations over the years. Some changes, like the dropping of its outdated misogyny, were undoubtedly for the better; others, such as the Daniel Craig era’s darker, more serious direction, were controversial. While so-called secret agent James Bond is bizarrely comfortable using his real name during missions, he's actually used many aliases throughout the franchise. It's becoming a regular jab at Bond's spy skills that he just brazenly tends to announce himself as "Bond, James Bond" wherever he goes. The James Bond movie franchise has never sold itself as a gritty look into the world of espionage, however, and the supreme confidence of 007 was part of the power fantasy the movies sold to audiences when it debuted.

Casino Royale director Martin Campbell explains why Henry Cavill will most likely never be James Bond. Campbell was the director when Pierce Brosnan first became James Bond in 1995’s GoldenEye, and was also the man at the helm when Daniel Craig took on the 007 mantle in 2006’s Casino Royale. When Brosnan became Bond, he had long been the consensus pick to be the next 007, but things were different ahead of Casino Royale, when there was no consensus pick, and multiple young stars were in the running, including the eventual winner Craig, along with future Man of Steel star Cavill.
Now that Craig has served his time as Bond, leaving the role open for Bond 26, Cavill’s name is again being tossed around as a potential 007, but Casino Royale director Campbell doesn’t think Cavill will ever win the role, and he has a very specific reason why. Speaking to Express,...

The James Bond franchise has seen the titular spy romance many women, but he hasn't fallen in love all that often. There had never really been a movie franchise on the scale of the Bond movies when they first arrived. The combination of beautiful people, big action setpieces and exotic locales drew in audiences, and in the years that followed, other blockbusters - most notably the Indiana Jones franchise - would borrow liberally from its formula. The series is also famous for its Bond women, where each entry would see 007 romancing a new love interest.
In the early days of the James Bond movies - some notable exceptions aside - these characters tended to be underdeveloped and were often included to be seduced or rescued. The Daniel Craig Bond movies saw a notable shift in this area, with his 007 tending to develop more serious emotional connections. Quantum Of Solace is...

This article contains major spoilers for The Flash.
Holy revolving door, Batman! The Caped Crusader has been portrayed by more actors on the big screen than any other superhero in history. Most of them have lasted for just one film. After The Dark Knight Rises, Christian Bale became the first man to have played Bruce Wayne and his alter-ego more than twice on the silver screen. He didn’t have much competition – Michael Keaton was the only other actor to reprise the role at the time.
But Ben Affleck has now beat Bale for appearances as Batman on the big screen due to his return in The Flash movie, making that fourth time Affleck has donned the cape and cowl. Sure, these aren’t movies starring the Caped Crusader but they still count! Meanwhile, Keaton ties Bale for three appearances, with a much heftier role in The Flash than Affleck.

Sean Connery is obviously best known for his work as 007, but his filmography contains far more than just a secret agent. However, his most underrated movie has strong ties to the Bond franchise, as it was only ever made as part of the price to get him to return as Bond in Diamonds Are Forever. The film is 1973’s The Offence, directed by Sidney Lumet. The Offence, the third of five collaborations between Connery and Lumet, is the story of a detective that snaps after 20 years investigating rape and murder, savagely beating a suspected pedophile, with Connery providing one of the best performances of his career.

Odd as it might sound, there have been many times in the history of the James Bond franchise where an American actor almost played the role. Ian Fleming's Bond was born to a Scottish father and Swiss mother, so it made sense the first actor to play the role in a movie was Scotsman Sean Connery. The character has since been played by an Irishman, an Australian, and a Welshman too. A fact some devotees of the franchise might not know is that the very first actor to play James Bond was an American named Barry Nelson.

James Bond (Daniel Craig) died at the end of No Time To Die but there have been other instances throughout the franchise when James Bond dies. With No Time To Die, Daniel Craig completed the fifth and final film of his incredibly popular and successful run as James Bond. Craig's 007 exists in a separate universe and his movie cycle, from Casino Royale to No Time To Die, tells a complete, serialized story that ends with the British secret agent's noble death. Before Daniel Craig's reinvention of 007, James Bond's invincibility was baked into the character. Bond always won in the end, no matter what manner of death trap the megalomaniacal villains he faces could conjure.
In the original James Bond movie continuity, which spans from Sean Connery's Bond in 1962's Dr. No to Pierce Brosnan in 2002's Die Another Day, 007 was never beaten and never really died. And yet, in some Bond movies,...
