Watch most comedians long enough and you’ll start to hear the same stories. But watch Stephen Colbert long enough and you’ll always find he has a new reason for audiences to fall in love with his wife, Evie.
On Sunday, April 21 at The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California, “The Late Show” host and Ben Schwartz closed out PaleyFest LA 2024 with a wide-ranging and goofy Q&a that included Colbert retelling some of his career-best stories while gently negging his interviewer’s questioning style.
“I will tell you a question I have been asked before,” Colbert quipped, turning Schwartz’ first prompt back on the actor in a good nature. “It’s ‘What’s a question you haven’t been asked before?'”
“And Ok, we’re going to the next question, you guys!,” Schwartz said with a laugh.

Jo Ann Ross, the first woman to run a broadcast TV network’s ad-sales efforts and one of the last senior ad-sales executives in the TV industry to hold direct relationships with advertisers when primetime broadcast programs were seen as the primary venue for Madison Avenue’s dollars, is leaving the industry, stepping down from her role as chairman of Paramount Global’s ad sales division at the end of April.
Ross had already stepped back from day to day duties, ceding that role to John Halley, who was named president of ad sales for the company in 2022. But her relationships with key sponsors were seen as valuable, as were the ties many of her senior executives had with media agencies and marketing executives. She has stayed on at Paramount in a key advisory role.

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is easily one of the best physiques that the world of entertainment has witnessed. While many actors have bulked up for their roles, Jackman’s dedication has been more remarkable due to his growing age with each successive appearance. Having portrayed the character for more than 20 years now, Jackman looks magnificent in the latest trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, to say the least.
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in X-Men: The Last Stand
Yet, there have been some trolls who cannot believe that the actor is as jacked as he looks, leading to the impression that he might be wearing fake muscles (!?). Coming to his defense is the Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, who recently tweeted that the muscles are one hundred percent real and that he had touched them.

Actor Jonathan Majors was primed to be the biggest villain for the MCU’s Multiverse Saga and seemed on an upward trajectory in Hollywood. However, Majors’ rise to fame was cut short and marred with all sorts of negativity after the actor was accused, and later tried, in a domestic violence case.

Stephen Colbert closed out Los Angeles’ annual PaleyFest TV festival Sunday afternoon, as he sat down for a conversation with comedian Ben Schwartz about his career and time at The Late Show desk.
During the wide-ranging chat inside the Dolby Theatre — which ranged from Colbert’s start in Chicago’s improv scene to his stint as a Sunday school teacher and his love of fantasy films — Schwartz asked the host if he would ever want to return to acting, for which he went to school.
“I was purely acting up until I had The Late Show,” Colbert recalled, as he had been in character on The Colbert Report and The Daily Show. “One of the weirdest things about taking the job is my manager, James ‘Babydoll’ Dixon, when he said, ‘Hey, it’s you.’ And I went, ‘Me?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, do you want to do it?’ And I’m like,...

One of the not-so-hidden secrets of late night is that sometimes portions of an episode will be taped days or even weeks ahead of time for insertion into a later episode.
Throw a four-month writers strike into the mix, and some of those pre-taped segments are going to fall by the wayside. Apparently that’s what happened with an interview Stephen Colbert taped last Spring with actor Reid Scott, as the two discussed Thursday night on The Late Show.
“Almost exactly a year ago, you came on to talk about the final season of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel,” Colbert recalled as he sat down with Scott. “[But] right after I interviewed you for a tape that was supposed to air later in May, the writers strike happened.”
The two then had some fun sharing what exactly happened in the interview that no one ever saw.

Former President Donald Trump was roundly mocked on late night television for an error-laden social media post in which he confused Jimmy Kimmel and Al Pacino as the presenter of this year’s best picture Oscar.
On Wednesday, the presumptive Republican nominee for president drew some attention away from his hush money trial, which is now in the jury selection process in Manhattan, with a post on his Truth Social platform in which he reignited a feud with Kimmel, who hosted the Oscar ceremony March 10, more than five weeks ago.
In part, Trump posted: “Stupid Jimmy Kimmel, who still hasn’t recovered from his horrendous performance and big ratings drop as Host of The Academy Awards, especially when he showed he suffered from Tds, commonly known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, to the entire World by reading on air my Truth about how bad a job he was doing that night,...

Stephen Colbert stood up for Jimmy Kimmel following Donald Trump’s latest social media outburst over the Oscars, where host Kimmel dissed Trump live on stage by reading the former president’s criticism of the ceremony and saying: “Thank you for watching, I’m surprised you’re still — isn’t it past your jail time?” In an April 17 post on Truth Social, Trump slammed “stupid Jimmy Kimmel” and called him a “horrendous” host. Trump also blamed Kimmel for the show’s “big ratings drop.”
“You keep my friend Jimmy Kimmel’s name out of your weird little wet mouth, Ok?” Colbert fired back during “The Late Show.” “I’m mad. Jimmy Kimmel is my podcast brother from ‘Strike Force Five.’ And I have vowed to defend him until my death or until the next ad for Mint Mobile.”
“And for the record, sir, Jimmy did an incredible job as host.

Stephen Colbert is hitting the road.
The Late Show host announced Wednesday night that he’s packing up his desk and suits and making his way to Chicago the week of August 19, where he’ll broadcast his show from the Windy City’s famed Auditorium Theater—a landmark venue that first opened its doors in 1889 and is “so creatively named,” joked Colbert.
Of course, the timing of Colbert’s road trip is important, as it just happens to coincide with the Democratic National Convention.
“It should be a fun time,” said Colbert. “Historically, all the democratic conventions in Chicago have gone super smooth.” The show then cut to a photo of the 1968 DNC, during which an estimated 10,000 Vietnam War protestors faced off against more than 20,000 police and National Guardsmen, resulting in hundreds of injuries.
Still, the host seemed overjoyed at the prospect of being so close to all the political action,...

Downey has come a long way and is a true inspiration for those looking for a second chance or getting one. He got arrested several times and is now an Oscar-winning actor and one of the highest paid in Hollywood. Rdj is a brand, and the MCU plays a significant role in that. The movie came to him when he was sober and trying...

(Updated with more details) The Vice President is no longer heading to late-night.
VP Kamala Harris was set to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! tomorrow night (Tuesday April 16).
However, her appearance has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date. Though the VP did end up flying back into LA from her quick trip to Las Vegas today, and not going to DC, no reason for Harris’ absence from the ABC late nighter was given.
However, the White House has announced that the Vice President “will participate in a campaign event” later in the day on Tuesday. Kimmel usually films that night’s show in the late afternoon — which is around the same time the Veep’s campaign event appears to be occurring.

It turns out Jimmy Fallon wasn’t the only late-night host who took to the roof to watch the solar eclipse earlier this week.
In a new behind the scenes clip posted to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s Instagram account, Colbert and team are seen taking in the eclipse from the rooftop of the Ed Sullivan Theatre building, and on the street outside their studio doors.
Colbert is seen remarking on the crescent shaped shadows cast by the eclipse, while his dog Benny chews on a pair of solar glasses. As Colbert explained in his monologue Monday, the show changed its schedule so that the staff could bear withness to the once-in-forty years event.

Academy Award–nominated director Matthew Heineman’s American Symphony begins in 2022, just as composer Jon Batiste learns he was nominated for 11 Grammys; another summit among many high points in his career. Well known as the bandleader on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Batiste is preparing for a one-night only performance at Carnegie Hall to present “American Symphony,” an orchestral piece intended to modernize the form.
At the same time Batiste’s career is picking up momentum, his life partner, Suleika Jaouad, learns that after a decade-long remission, her cancer has returned. There are a variety of metrics that networks and others use to measure the success of a late-night talk show. Fox News is quick to point out that their 10 p.m. late-night style show Gutfeld! actually gets more live-plus-same day viewers than any of the traditional late-night talk shows. But if you factor in delayed viewing, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert takes the lead. And if you count views on digital platforms like YouTube and TikTok, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon is top dog.
Which got us wondering: What other metrics might one use to measure the success of these shows?
This being late night, naturally we thought of laughter. So we sent our intrepid screen timer Matthew Stewart (the wizard behind our weekly SNL screen time tallies) out to answer the question no one ever asked: Which late-night talk show gets the most laughs per minute?

During his monologue on Wednesday, Stephen Colbert touched on Donald Trump’s latest criminal trial. And “The Late Show” host was particularly delighted by reports that the prosecutors in this trial might want his fans on the jury.
“Trump’s criminal trial starts here in New York on Monday,” Colbert said, by which he means, the trial over the hush money Trump paid to Stormy Daniels.
“The first read first order of business is jury selection. Reportedly, Trump’s lawyers want a jury that includes public employees like police officers, firefighters and sanitation workers,” Colbert said. “Well, sanitation workers make sense and they’re gonna want jurors who are comfortable with giant sacks of garbage.”
“On the other hand, on the other hand, prosecutors are looking for educated voters from Democratic neighborhoods and are fishing for those who are fond of late night comedians like Stephen Colbert,” Colbert said, mostly accurately.

CinemaCon attendees got an extended clip from Illumination’s Despicable Me 4 at Universal’s presentation Wednesday in Las Vegas.
In it, Gru (Steve Carell) teams with the villainess Poppy (Joey King) to steal a honey badger from a castle/private school. Two Minions and Gru’s baby son Junior are in tow. Calamity ensues as the honey badger awakes and creates havoc, with Gru getting hit in the butt with a tranquilizer shot.
Illumination Boss Chris Meledandri introduced the clip today at the Caesars Colosseum, thanking exhibitors for the sleeper success of his animation studio’s Migration ($293 million in box office).
“In case of any doubt, our commitment to produce original animation film remains steadfast,” said Meledandri.

Tyla made her debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert with a choreographed performance of “Art.” Watch it below.
The South African singer, who was included on our Rising Artists to Watch in 2024 list, recently won her first-ever Grammy for Best African Music Performance. Her song “Water” was also included on our Best Songs of 2023 list.
Unfortunately, Tyla was forced to cancel the world tour she’d mapped out for 2024, citing an injury. The cancellation extended to her appearance slated for Coachella. “For the past year I’ve been silently suffering with an injury that has tragically worsened,” she shared via Instagram. “I’ve seen doctors and specialists with high hopes but the pain has only become more agonizing as has the severity of the situation.”

It’s always refreshing to see the face of a late-night show turn the spotlight onto the staff and crew that help make it all happen, and Stephen Colbert did just that at a recent taping.
In a new behind the scenes clip from his pre-show audience Q&a, Colbert highlights a longtime crew member, stage manager Mark McKenna.
“We’ve known each other for 18 years,” Colbert says as he asks McKenna to join him on stage. “He’s such a gift to me. He’s showfolk, too. And so he understands the weird life that we live, and he can know what’s going on with me without me saying a word. He can read my mind.”
McKenna worked with Colbert on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report before following him to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert when it launched on CBS in 2015. He also serves as stage...

Actor Jamie Foxx isn’t just known for his movies and his singing career. He’s also a gameshow host, headlining the popular Fox show Beat Shazam. Foxx explained how partying with Drake and Diddy helped him get into his new role as a game show host.

Beat Shazam wasn’t the first time Foxx was on TV. He was the lead of his own sitcom, The Jamie Foxx Show, for several years before successfully transitioning into movies. However, Beat Shazam was Foxx’s first time in front of an audience as a gameshow host.
