There will be no monkeying around at Hulu, my friends. The network announced Hit-Monkey Season 2 on Thursday, continuing the animated antics of Marvel‘s Japanese snow monkey assassin with a taste for vengeance. In the animated series co-created by Josh Gordon and Will Speck, Hit-Monkey targets those responsible for slaughtering his tribe. To bring pain to the culprits, Hit-Monkey joins forces with the ghost of an American assassin, and together, they pick off Yakuza members one-by-one until they’re nothing but blood and giblets on the ground.
Hit-Monkey Season 2 brings Bryce (Jason Sudeikis) and Monkey (Fred Tatasciore) to New York City. Olivia Munn returns as Akiko, with Ally Maki as Haruka. Leslie Jones joins Hit-Monkey Season 2, though her role remains a mystery.
You can check out a list of the main characters as well as their descriptions for the first season below:

The Boy Who Sold The World is an entertaining look at boy genius Ben Pasternak, a master of the universe in the making (or has he already arrived?). One has to wonder if director Adam Barton got to the game too late or left his story a little too early despite chronicling his subject of the course of several years. The cameras start rolling when mom Amy drops the then-16-year-old Australian boy off at his new high-rise apartment in the heart of New York City. Known for his Apple unboxing videos and his iOS game Impossible Rush, which topped the app store charts, he declines multiple Silicon Valley internships to head to East Coast where venture capitalists throw money at him to develop Flogg, a social network similar for teens to buy and sell goods.

Sometimes the most unexpected, out-of-left-field occurrences wind up having the most profound impact, wouldn't you agree? For me this week, that occurrence was Goldie Hawn sharing a video of herself energetically breaking it down to "Dance Monkey." In the clip posted on Instagram, the 74-year-old star bops around her home to the catchy Tones and I song with such enthusiasm and endurance, I honestly became short of breath just watching it unfold. I would undoubtedly attend a Zumba class taught by Goldie.
Goldie kicks off her seemingly unplanned dance video by jumping around on an outdoor veranda before heading inside, shakin' what her mama gave her, running back outside, and then quickly back into her bathroom, where she claps along to the track's beat before an abrupt ending. There are so many important observations to unpack here.

It’s been some time since director David Lynch brought Twin Peaks: The Return to Showtime. E3 2019 is officially in the rear view mirror and now that we’ve had time to take in the big announcements and pore over every minute detail of every video showing off Cyberpunk 2077 and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, we thought we’d address the feeling that always lingers after any major expo: Disappointment.
The kind of irrational, personal disappointment that stems from all the announcements that never were; reveals of sequels to our favourite, seemingly abandoned series’ that we’ve been wanting for years. In honour of all our unrealistic expectations, here is our list of eight video game sequels we really want (but will probably never get).
8. Lollipop Chainsaw 2
The zombie-killing fad that ran rampant through the video game industry seems to have waned in recent years, which can only mean one thing: The undead have had it too easy for too long. That’s why we need a...

Patti Smith has announced a new memoir, Year of the Monkey. Published by Knopf, the book will be released on September 24th. Year of the Monkey recounts the year 2016, which Smith spent in solidarity following the singer’s run of New Year’s concerts at the Fillmore in San Francisco. “I began writing it on New Year’s Day, 2016 in cafes, trains and strange motels by the sea, with no particular design, until page by page it became a book,” Smith wrote on her Instagram account. “I’m very excited...

“Ramy,” debuting April 19, tells the story of first generation Egyptian-American Ramy Hassan as he finds himself in his New Jersey neighborhood, stuck at a crossroads between the morals of his Muslim community and the moral ambiguity of his millennial generation. “Into The Dark: I’m Just F*cking With You,” coming April 1, finds two siblings in a secluded motel, where they become subject to practical jokes of an increasingly frightening nature.

In Digital Shorts we review some of the latest video games that are only available digitally (at least in the UK), in a short-form review format. In this edition we take a look at Monkey King: Master of the Clouds – a remake of an 80s shoot ‘em-up available now on the Nintendo Switch.
Based on the old Msx game Chuka Taisen, Monkey King: Master of the Clouds is based on the classic Chinese folklore tale of Monkey (as in Journey to the West) – who, if you watched the TV show of the same name back in the 80s, was born from an egg on a mountain top and traveled across China fighting evil at every turn. If you also remember from the TV show, Monkey used to fly around on a cloud…

1. The Guest
With its triangle of investigators, a Catholic Priest (Yoon Hwa Pyung), a Shaman (Choi Yoon) and a Police Detective (Kang Kil Yeong), “The Guest” can be best thought of as a loose spin-off of Na’s “The Wailing” (2015) even though the answers seem clearer cut in the former than the later. Like all good Gothic texts, the crisis in the present can be traced back to a trauma in the past at which the paths of the three intersect. As Bts tell us in “DNA” ‘this is not a coincidence’ (2017). In the present, an outbreak of violent crimes for no apparent reason bring the three together again as they search for the demon behind the outbreak whose capture would resolve their traumatic pasts. Much darker in its approach than many horror themed kdramas, “The Guest”’s tight scripting, clever casting and cinematography mark it out as a must see.

All hail legendary song-and-dance man Gene Kelly on the 106th anniversary of his birth on August 23. In the history of American film, there were unarguably two great male dancers — Fred Astaire and Kelly. Astaire’s style was romantic and sophisticated, with long lines and elegant movement. Kelly’s style was more athletic — a guy’s guy, if you will — with a scrappy style that set him apart from other dancers of his era.
Kelly appeared to be able to do it all. He could dance, sing, and act in his films, ultimately choreographing and directing them as well. In the course of his nearly four decades on film, he starred in such classics as “An American in Paris” and “Anchors Aweigh,” as well as starring and co-directing the great musicals “On the Town” and “Singin’ in the Rain.”

Inspired by the Japanese television drama Monkey (1978-80), which in turn was based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, the Netflix series The New Legends of Monkey starts off with a lot of cultural baggage, which it casually flings off by the end of its first episode. As in the Japanese show, the Australian series features a woman in a lead role as Tripitaka, a young priest who releases Monkey, aka The Monkey King, after 500 years of imprisonment. They journey to the West in search of holy scriptures and have many adventures, accompanied by Sandy and Pigsy, two gods who have kept their true natures in hiding. The original Japanese series was evidently quite popular in Australia, and so the new...

“Iron Fist.” “Death Note.” Now you can add “Legend of the Monkey” to that list of Netflix projects that are feeling the heat from Asians who are crying whitewashing.
“Legend of the Monkey” is an Australian-New Zealand co-production based on the 16th century Chinese novel “Journey to the West” and attributed to Wu Cheng’en. It tells of the pilgrimage of the Buddhist monk Xuanzang to obtain sacred texts, aided by three disciples from folklore: Sun Wukong the Monkey King, Zhu Bajie also known as Pigsy, and Sha Wujing, aka Sandy. The tale has been told many times on screen before under various names. Japan had a TV adaptation called “Monkey Magic,” and Stephen Chow released a “Journey to the West” film in 2013 with a sequel in 2017.

Ebonnie Masini and Rian McLean in 'Round the Twist' (1989), Australian Children's Television Foundation
Australian children.s TV may have recently picked up an Emmy Kids award for the Abcme animation Doodles, but otherwise kids. TV in this country is in a dire state.
Free-to-air TV networks have to commission certain amounts of children.s programs each year. But in recent years there.s been a dismaying lack of new live action shows, or recognisably Australian content. Instead, local children.s TV has become dominated by animation with little sense of place.
This is a shame, because Australia.s most fondly remembered children.s TV shows are live action productions such as Mortified, Playschool, Blue Water High, and Round the Twist. When asked in a 2015 survey to name their favourite childhood TV characters, most people chose Round the Twist siblings Linda and Bronson, followed by Mortified.s Taylor Fry.

From Bananaman to Grange Hill, join us in a spot of TV nostalgia as we celebrate 50 great 1980s kids' TV theme songs...
There comes a time to turn away from the horrors of the world and retreat underneath the soft, comforting duvet of nostalgia. That time is Friday. That metaphorical duvet is below.
Here are fifty of the best kids’ TV theme songs (spread over two pages and in arbitrary order) of the 1980s. Some, like Alan Hawkshaw’s distinctive Grange Hill intro, are unarguable classics of the era, while others, like Mike Harding's Count Duckula, only started in the late-eighties and spent the rest of their run in the next decade.
Obviously, there being only 50 on this list, we may have missed out your favourite (deliberately or otherwise). Let us know if so, but remember that links may take a while to appear in the comments thread because...
