Anne Heche, Tom Sizemore, Paul Sorvino and more were not included in ‘In Memoriam’ segment at Oscars
Amid the happiness for favorites like Brendan Fraser and Everything Everywhere All at Once getting their big wins at last night’s Academy Awards, one of the more somber moments, as always, came during the “In Memoriam” segment. As the segment started, John Travolta would tearfully pay tribute to his Grease co-star Olivia Newton-John with Lenny Kravitz playing Calling All Angels. With every year’s telecast, audiences would often react not only to the tributes but also to the notable absences of certain figures in film.
The Hollywood Reporter has the reactions to some of the bewildering snubs in this year’s segment. Social media platforms lit up with people noticing the absence of actress Charlbi Dean of the Oscar-nominated Triangle of Sadness, Tom Sizemore, Paul Sorvino, Leslie Jordan, and Anne Heche, despite the unfortunate details surrounding her death. Curiously, although those individuals were omitted from the television broadcast, but...

Anne Heche, Tom Sizemore, Paul Sorvino, Charlbi Dean and Leslie Jordan were among the names missing from the 2023 Oscars In Memoriam segment, which recognizes stars and filmmakers who died over the past year.
John Travolta choked up as he introduced the annual In Memoriam segment, which featured Lenny Kravitz performing “Calling All Angels,” with a tribute to Grease co-star Olivia Newton-John.
On Twitter and other social media platforms, viewers mentioned that the likes of Heche, who starred in such movies as Donnie Brasco, Volcano and Wag the Dog and on such TV shows as Men in Trees and Hung; South African Triangle of Sadness actress Dean; character actor Sorvino; Call Me Kat and Will & Grace actor Jordan; and Sizemore, who starred as Sgt. Carroll died Saturday of pneumonia at her home in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, her daughter Kerry Karsian told The Hollywood Reporter.

Too close for comfort! Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner had a scary fan encounter on Wednesday night in New York City.
Watch: Gigi Hadid Explains Her Terrifying Milan Attack: It's 'Everyone's Right' to Defend Themselves
The model pals were heading to Bella's sister Gigi Hadid’s apartment when a woman in a grey tracksuit rushed up to them, brandishing the Palestinian flag. It is unclear whether she was protesting the stars, trying to promote a message, or simply an overeager fan.
The girls, who were followed closely by a bodyguard, appeared unfazed as they continued walking.
The woman was stopped by policemen and later handcuffed and taken away.
Neither Kendall nor Bella responded to the incident on social media. The trio were later seen leaving Gigi’s apartment and heading to Madison Square Garden where Kendall's longtime pal Asap Rocky was performing.

Following James Bond’s out of this world experience in the financially successful (665 million, adjusted for inflation) if artistically vapid Moonraker, the series’ sole producer, Albert Broccoli, thought it best to venture in a different direction, one that would feel slightly more grounded, all the while still playing on the strengths of his star: cool wit, affable mannerism and charm. A new director in John Glenn was now on board, who would go on to direct every single entry from the 80s, including Timothy Dalton’s two adventures. A new production designer in Peter Lamont was also now in charge of sets. Both had worked their way up in the ‘Bond family business’ so to speak, and, along with the leftover story elements from the far grittier Ian Fleming novels, the 007 films of the early 80s would take on a different tone and feel from the voodoo, space travel and...

There have been few ideas as bizarrely noble as Adam and Naomi Scott’s The Greatest Event in Television History project, and we were excited to hyperanalyze the meticulously crafted series of specials with the married producers at our inaugural Vulture Festival. The premise behind Greatest Event is simple: frame-for-frame reenactments of the opening-credits sequences from semi-obscure 1970s and ’80s programs, such as Simon and Simon and Too Close for Comfort. To make the four installments that have aired on Adult Swim to date, the Scotts recruited some impressive names, including Jon Hamm, Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Tom Hanks, and Billy Joel. In their deep-dive interview with Vulture's Denise Martin at the Festival, they reveal that email exchanges with Jon Hamm sparked the idea, recount a memorable visit to Billy Joel’s house on Long Island, and divulge details about the Beverly Hills, 90210 re-creation that never was.

Last night, Adult Swim aired the fourth and final installment in Adam Scott's Greatest Event in Television History series, in which he and some of his pals create frame-for-frame reenactments of the opening credits for eighties TV shows (after ten minutes of mockumentary footage about the making of the reenactment). He'd already tackled Simon & Simon, Hart to Hart, and Too Close for Comfort, so last night, he teamed with Paul Rudd to remake the lengthy, exposition-heavy opening to the Tom Hanks–Peter Scolari drag sitcom Bosom Buddies. (Gillian Jacobs takes the Donna Dixon role, Aidy Bryant does the late Wendie Jo Sperber, Parks and Rec writer Aisha Muharrar is Telma Hopkins, and Mo Collins nails Holland Taylor in just one face.) Watch the re-creation and the original side-by-side and marvel at the unicycle and handball skills Adam Scott had to master to pull this off. And how long did it...

There will be yet another "Greatest Event in Television History" on Adult Swim this winter. Adam Scott ("Parks and Recreation") will be joined by Paul Rudd for this mysterious and glorious occasion. Jeff Probst ("Survivor") will return to host the countdown once again.
But what '80s show will the comedians be spoofing this time?
Based on a photo released by Adult Swim on Wednesday (Jan. 15), the mystery series involves two men who wear white t-shirts and sport loose and flowing hair. There may be others who appear in the credit sequence, but it's likely that these two will be the primary focus.
If "The Greatest Event in Television History" 4 follows the pattern set by its predecessors, Scott and Rudd will provide a shot-for-shot reenactment of some 1980s-era program. The original "Greatest Event" featured Scott and Jon Hamm recreating the opening credits to "Simon & Simon." Scott recruited his "Parks and Recreation...

One thing Adam Scott is making sure we're all completely aware of: Opening credits sequences from the 1980s are pretty awesome. For the third installment of his Adult Swim project, The Greatest Event in Television History, he and a few pals took on the grandiose challenge of faithfully re-creating the opening credits sequence of the 1980 to 1986 Ted Knight sitcom Too Close for Comfort. Scott's previous stabs at mock-perfect apery included the 1981 to 1989 detective series Simon & Simon, with Jon Hamm and Scott inhabiting the roles of the titular brothers, and Hart to Hart, in which he and Amy Poehler (with Horatio Sanz!) sent up the gooey 1979 to 1984 Robert Wagner–Stefanie Powers mystery/romcom mash-up. With a fourth re-enactment on the docket for January 23, 2014, we wanted to offer our assistance in setting Scott's course for adventure and his mind on a new romance. No, not...

Last night on Adult Swim, Adam Scott unloaded the third installment of his The Greatest Event in Television History project with an attempt at re-creating the opening credits of the oft-forgotten early-eighties Ted Knight sitcom Too Close for Comfort. He donned the rugby shirt and sheepish affect of Monroe, a character name that will cause any fan of the series to bellow, à la Knight’s bombastic softie Henry Rush (played here by Jon Glaser), “Oh, Monroe!” How’d this little reenactment — which also co-starred Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Chelsea Peretti — go? You be the judge, with this handy side-by-side comparison of the original and remade opening-credits sequence. It's happened once again, as the "Greatest Event in TV History" has been unleashed. This time around, Adam Scott and friends recreated the intro to the early 1980s sitcom "Too Close for Comfort," which is what many expected after the teaser image that was released.
Before the show could get underway, they had to introduce the cast and go behind-the-scenes to show how it all was made, of course. Things started off with Jeff Probst essentially apologizing for the last two installments not truly being TV's greatest moment. Instead, he renamed the night "An Event in TV History," which definitely seems more appropriate.
Joining Scott, who played Jim J. Bullock's role in the intro, was Catherine O'Hara (Nancy Dussault), Jon Glaser (Ted Knight), Chelsea Peretti (Deborah Van Valkenburgh) and Kathryn Hahn (Lydia Cornell).

Adam Scott is making a third go at "The Greatest Event in Television History." This time it seems like the skit will remake the opening of "Too Close for Comfort," but fans won't know for sure until it airs on Adult Swim on Nov. 7 at midnight.

Adam Scott making third attempt at 'Greatest Event in Television History,' but what's the couch for?
Get excited, because Adam Scott is again trying to figure out "The Greatest Event in Television History." You know what they say: the third time's the charm.
The third installment in his "Greatest Event" series will air Nov. 7 on midnight at Adult Swim. Like the previous two, it seems likely that Scott will recreate an opening credits scene from a famous television show intro. But which one? Thus far all we have is one hint: an orange couch on a set.
So where's the couch from? Vulture figured out it's "Too Close For Comfort," meaning Scott will play the role of Ted Knight. But what about the women? That's worth a whole different speculation spot.
Here were Zap2it's other guesses for which show's couch it could be.
"Snick"
It might not match with the "Hart to Hart" and "Simon & Simon" theme, but "Snick's" couch does look a whole lot like the one above.

Adam Scott and Adult Swim are making another Greatest Event in Television History, following in the noble footsteps of 2012's shot-for-shot remake of the Simon and Simon opening (with Jon Hamm) and this year's Hart to Hart opening (with Amy Poehler). What will the new installment re-create? This couch is our only clue. It's not the couch from Central Perk on Friends — that orange couch was tufted, for starters. It's not the orange couch from Snick; that couch had a higher back. And it's not the couch from The Simpsons, which has three buttons on it and no cushions. Also, those shows are all too new for TGEiTH treatment. This is the couch from Too Close for Comfort. This great event will air on November 7 at midnight.
