‘Creepshow’ Review: Shudder’s Anthology Series Is a Bloody Good Ode to Old-School Horror

The jury is still out on Greg Nicotero as a storyteller, but the thing that makes that man and his gorgeous locks one of my favorite filmmakers working today is his commitment in the year of our lord 2019 to keeping horror practical. That ethos, dating back to his first VFX role on George A. Romero's Day of the Dead, has kept The Walking Dead shambling along nicely even when the story juices run dry, and bleeds seamlessly into Creepshow, Nicotero's streaming revival of the classic 1982 horror anthology written by Stephen King and directed by Romero. The Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights 2019 Mazes Ranked

I love going to haunted attractions during the Halloween season! It’s one of my favorite times of the year, and Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights is always a must-go! They’ve always put on an extremely fun show, and they fill their theme park with lots of mazes to terrify the guests.

I had the opportunity to attend opening night of Halloween Horror Nights last week, and it was a ton of fun! They had some great mazes this year, and I ranked them below from best to worst.

I do have to say that I was a little disappointed this year because it was the first year that I’ve gone where they didn’t have the Terror Tram! I l always enjoyed the Terror Tram and being able to walk around Bates Motel and the iconic Psycho house. It’s a shame they ditched it this year.

There's a Cameo in It Chapter Two That's Pretty Damn Perfect

  • Popsugar

Fyi: some spoilers for It Chapter Two ahead!

Much like its predecessor, It Chapter Two maintains a healthy balance between depraved horror and laugh-out-loud humor. Though much of the latter can be attributed to Finn Wolfhard and Bill Hader's joint portrayal of Richie Tozier, a cameo is also the recipient of a good chuckle. To not draw it out further: Stephen King - yes, the mastermind behind Pennywise and the original It novel - appears in the freaking sequel!

The cameo happens about midway through the movie when the grown-up members of the Losers Club embark on a mission to recollect tokens from their childhood that might jog their mysteriously foggy memories of Pennywise and what happened that Summer of 1989. That's when Bill Denbrough (James McAvoy) spots his old bike, Silver, in the window of an antique store in Derry. The curmudgeonly shop owner buried behind relics at his desk?

Every Stephen King Movie Cameo: From Creepshow to It Chapter Two

Don Kaye Sep 11, 2019

The master of horror is ready for his closeup. Here's a history of Stephen King movie and TV cameos.

Like many people with fertile imaginations, Stephen King loves movies. He loves them so much, in fact, that he’s appeared in quite a few himself, starting in 1981 with a cameo as a rather slovenly redneck in George A. Romero’s jousting bikers drama, Knightriders (he’s billed as “Hoagie Man”).

Over the years, King has broadened his range to include appearances in not just movies, but in TV shows like The Simpsons and Sons of Anarchy.

He even memorably starred in an American Express commercial in 1985:

For the most part, however, King’s onscreen appearances have been in films and TV series based on his own work, usually in quick, don’t-blink-or-you’ll-miss-him walk-ons but occasionally in a decent-sized supporting role.

Creepshow Comes Back from the Grave

Alec Bojalad Sep 16, 2019

Shudder's Creepshow reboot is bringing the '80s horror anthology back to life and the set has the bloodstains to prove it.

On the calendar behind Greg Nicotero’s desk, every day, from Jan. 7, 2019 through to today, March 28, is marked with a red “X.” The lines are big and emphatic, as though the writer put every last bit of his energy into striking them.

“It seems like yesterday was January 7th and now it's the end of March,” Nicotero says, sinking into a chair in front of the calendar. “There's been no time to even pick anything up.”

Production happens in a near constant state on the Creepshow set and the chaos on the cavernous Atlanta soundstage reflects it. Outside of Nicotero’s office, hallways are littered with rubber monsters and gory props. Two lifeless Nazi soldier dolls greet the production staff arriving on set, one bald and scarred,
