In the last 50 years, there have been countless excellent adaptations based on Stephen King's stories. In many cases, the movies and TV shows paid tribute to the ingenuity of the King of Horror, proving themselves as brilliant, emotionally charged, and twisted as their sources. A feature that contributed to the success of these adaptations, in several instances, has been the performances of the actors.
Stephen King provides an exceptional foundation with his well-crafted and fascinating characters, but once a story unfolds on the big or small screen, the actors are the ones who bring those same characters to life. Their performances determine whether the tension, fear, and humanity in the author's books resonate with the audience. Some of these portrayals have captured the core of his work so profoundly that they cemented their place in cinematic and television history.

We have an update on Christine Brown suing her ex-husband for child support.
Back in September, we reported that the 52-year old had filed legal documents against the Sister Wives patriarch in which she asked a court to establish paternity of 14-year old daughter Truly because Kody Brown’s name is not on her birth certificate.
Christine Brown deserves props for getting away from Kody. (TLC)
Additionally, Christine has requested a domestic relations injunction that stops both parties from harassment, domestic violence, canceling or modifying services, taking the kids for non-routine travel without court orders or permission and demeaning or disparaging the other party.
Last Wednesday, meanwhile, the exes met in court (via Zoom) for a hearing in regard to this case.

Art Evans, the actor who appeared in Die Hard 2, A Soldier’s Story and so many more movies and TV shows beginning in the 1970s, has passed away at the age of 82. The cause of death was diabetes.
Art Evans had well over 100 credits to his name, normally playing smaller roles. One of these key ones was in Die Hard 2, in which he played an air traffic controller who aids in John McClane’s latest fight against terrorists. Another came in 1984 with A Soldier’s Story, co-starring alongside Howard E. Rollins Jr. and Adolph Caesar as an army private. While Caesar would end up receiving the bulk of the attention (receiving Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations), Evans was also making his own mark.
Art Evans got his career started the previous decade — after time studying theater and on the stage — earning his first credit on sitcom Chico and the Man.

At 82, Art Evans, a talented character actor known for his vast work in film and television, passed away. His diabetes, which he had been fighting for years, caused problems that led to his death on December 21. Babe Evans, his wife, confirmed the news and paid heartfelt tribute to his life and career.
“Art was not only an incredible actor but a devoted husband, friend, and source of light to everyone who knew him,” she said. “We will miss his laugh, passion, and love of life very much.” Even though our hearts are heavy, we are proud of the joy and influence he leaves behind.
Evans began his acting career at Frank Silvera’s Theater of Being. He was born in Los Angeles on March 27, 1942. He made it to Broadway and played the lead role in “The Amen Corner” in 1965. In the middle of the 1970s, he moved on to TV,...

When last we left our fearless Sister Wives fam, the wives were learning how to form new communities in the wake of their multiple divorces from patriarch Kody Brown. Meri Brown seeks to build a community of supportive girlfriends, Christine Brown is building a new familial community with David Woolley, and Robyn Brown wants to encourage her daughters to find community through faith.

Everyone's moving on, it seems, despite the trauma the divorces caused to the entire family. Kody, especially, seems anxious about losing another wife, and in this episode, we see that he seems desperate to keep Robyn happy. This man cannot handle another divorce, that much is true.

Sister Wives star Christine Brown is hopelessly in love with David Woolley, who's helping her to forget about all the emotional abuse she was subjected to in the past, but I think she may have too much faith in her new husband. David seems like a great guy - it's not that he's a bad person, it's just that their relationship hasn't stood the test of time. In my opinion, famous women who date should always be wary, especially of non-famous males who may pursue them for the wrong reasons.
Because I really care about Christine, I'm rooting for her. With any luck, David is the person she thinks he is. However, there are some red flags. In the past, Christine spent decades trying to believe in Kody Brown. She was really in love with him, always wanting to spend time with him and touch him. In their happier days,...

Back in September, it was announced that Evan Peters (Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), Anthony Ramos (Twisters), Ashton Kutcher (That ’70s Show), and Jeremy Pope (Hollywood) are on board to star in The Beauty, the latest show that American Horror Story and Monster co-creator Ryan Murphy has in the works at FX. Now, Variety has broken the news that Rebecca Hall of Godzilla x Kong: New Empire has also joined the cast.
Filming on The Beauty is already underway. FX has given the show an 11 episode order. While the series is based on the Image Comics series of the same name by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley, plot and character details are being kept under wraps. So for now, we can only go by the description of the comic book series to get an idea of what the show is going to be like: Modern society is obsessed with outward beauty.

Rebecca Hall has joined the upcoming FX series “The Beauty,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Hall will appear alongside previously announced series leads Evan Peters, Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos, and Jeremy Pope. FX has given the show an 11-episode order.
The series, which is currently in production, is based on the Image Comics series of the same name by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. Exact character and plot details are being kept under wraps, but the description of the comic book states:
“Modern society is obsessed with outward beauty. What if there was a way to guarantee you could become more and more beautiful every day? What if it was a sexually transmitted disease? In the world of ‘The Beauty,’ physical perfection is attainable. The vast majority of the population has taken advantage of it, but Detectives Foster and Vaughn will soon discover it comes at a terrible price.”

Prolific horror author Stephen King has written a vast number of novels and short stories, many of which have been made into film and TV adaptations. There are some truly great ones, like Mike Flanagan's "Gerald's Game" and "Doctor Sleep," and then there are the not-so-great ones, like the awful cell-phone zombie movie "Cell" and the critically panned but mostly forgettable "Graveyard Shift."
One has to wonder how King himself feels about all of these adaptations. Well, except maybe for "The Shining," because King has made his feelings about Stanley Kubrick's adaptation crystal clear. (He hates it. Like really, really hates it.)
While promoting the film adaptation of "Dreamcatcher" in 2003, King revealed that he also wasn't so hot on another film version of one of his books, even though it was directed by master of horror John Carpenter. The 1983 movie "Christine" apparently "bored" King just as much as "The Shining" did,...

Horror legend Stephen King has written a fair few books over the years. Ever since he burst on the scene with "Carrie" in 1974, he's given fans at least one book nearly every year. Since most of his work has been extremely popular, he's also established himself as a bit of an authority on the horror front -- and isn't shy about commenting about either the genre or his craft as a writer.
Thanks to King's status as a horror luminary and extensive work in many other genres, we've analyzed his work many times before. You may have seen us discuss why King's endings have a reputation for being disappointing, look into his biggest career regret involving (of all things) a forgotten TV commercial, and examine the one Stephen King book that will never get a film adaption due to the author voluntarily scrubbing it from his catalog.

Like most TLC shows, drama is a staple of Sister Wives. Without a continuous cycle of harsh words and hurt feelings, there wouldn’t be much content left to keep the show alive.
Since the show first premiered, many fans and cast members have pointed fingers at Robyn for being an instigator. But lately, some Sister Wives fans have started to think Christine Brown Woolley is more interested in drama than she cares to admit.
See what other viewers are buzzing about online.

But do the results tell a bigger story about the women?

Stephen King has made a name for himself since his iconic debut novel, Carrie, in 1974, as a living legend of horror who truly changed the genre forever. His prolific career has been incredibly successful, producing 65 novels and more than 200 short stories, which have gone on to sell over 400 million copies, gaining him a legion of loyal fans. Unsurprisingly, his work translated incredibly well to the screen, with many of his works being transformed for both film and television - with many more still to be adapted - creating some of the most iconic horror works in cinematic history.
Though many of his works have been widely celebrated, some have been overshadowed or flown under the radar, such as Christine and 1408, both of which share many of the trademarks of King's classic film adaptions. We've finally reached the time of the year when everyone dedicates an unnecessary amount of time to arguing over the same, cyclical topics ad nauseam — like whether or not "Die Hard" is a Christmas movie or what film deserves the biggest gift under the tree as the best Christmas movie of all time. Just as hotly debated is what constitutes the "worst" Christmas movie of all time, which is a lot harder to determine depending on what you deem "bad." One film that is frequently in the running for the dishonor is 1985's "Santa Claus: The Movie," directed by Jeannot Szwarc, who also gave us "Supergirl" and the equally polarizing "Jaws 2."
On paper, "Santa Claus: The Movie" has a lot going for it. It's about a man named Claus (David Huddleston) who delivers toys in his small village, eventually becoming Santa Claus after crossing paths with an elf toy-maker,...

Sister Wives star Kody Brown claimed that Maddie Brown Brush was a gossip, and now he’s hit out at her mom, Janelle Brown about Christine Brown. But when the teaser dropped, TLC fans just mocked the patriarch’s memory.
Kody Brown Rants A Lot, It’s Never His Fault
If TLC fans were to believe the patriarch of the TLC show, he never did a single thing to deserve his wives leaving him. One of the biggest problems that Sister Wives fans have is that he seems to have problems with his memory. For instance, he told Meri Brown he didn’t love her and wanted her gone, but then cried and claimed he’d miss her when she left.
Kody Brown and Christine Brown split and she went off to Utah to find and marry her new guy, David Woolley. They seem happy these days, but Kody is still angry about their split.

Dozens of Stephen King's literary works have received movie and TV adaptations, but modern horror master Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) recently highlighted an oft-overlooked adaptation that definitely deserves more attention in Christine. King has produced well over 100 novels, collections, screenplays, and other assorted works, and some have been adapted into all-time great movies, like The Shawshank Redemption or The Green Mile. Others have been complete misfires, like Silver Bullet or Firestarter. Still others have been reappraised recently and are evolving into cult classics.
Mike Flanagan recently spoke about King's most underrated adaptations, and highlighted four very specific choices, some of which make more sense than others. Flanagan's opinion on the matter certainly means something, given that he has produced some incredible King adaptations himself, including Doctor Sleep, Gerald's Game, and the upcoming Life of Chuck. Of the four choices he gave, one really stands out as...

Christine Brown from Sister Wives would be a great fit for a spin-off with her new husband, David Woolley. The 52-year-old reality star was in her 20s when she entered a spiritual marriage with her former husband, Kody Brown. Christine agreed to have a polygamous relationship with him, allowing him to have romantic connections and children with his other wives, Meri, Janelle, and Robyn Brown. Christine had a positive experience growing her family with Kody, welcoming six children with him and building strong relationships with her former Sister Wives, especially Janelle.
Unfortunately, Christine's polygamous marriage didn't work out. Over the years, Kody became increasingly obsessed with his youngest wife, Robyn. He stopped spending time with his other wives, which led Christine to reassess her future. In November 2021, Christine left Kody and focused on her fitness. She also achieved more success in her career as a social media influencer. By 2023, Christine...

Christine Brown appears to be happier since leaving Kody Brown, and she is ready to move on from Sister Wives after the recent season. The Utah native joined Kody's polygamous family as his third wife in March 1994. Although Christine and Kody had six children together, their relationship was never loving. Things deteriorated rapidly after Robyn Brown, Kody's fourth wife, joined the family. Kody began neglecting his three wives, choosing to spend most of his time with Robyn and her children. After feeling unappreciated for years, Christine ended her spiritual marriage with Kody in November 2021.

Despite only knowing each other for less than a year, the couple took their relationship to the next level by getting engaged in April 2023. Longlegs director Osgood Perkins says his new Stephen King movie is a "soulful comedy" with "Itchy & Scratchy" level violence. Stephen King adaptations have been a mainstay in cinema since 1976 when Brian De Palma's Carrie, based on King's first published novel, set a high standard for adaptations of his work. King adaptations flourished in the 1980s with Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, Cujo, Christine, and Pet Sematary. They extended beyond horror, too, with King's shorter stories, Stand By Me and The Shawshank Redemption, serving as the basis for acclaimed adaptations.
In recent years, Stephen King adaptations have surged in popularity, with It and It Chapter Two bringing the author's iconic tale of fear and friendship to a new generation, the former becoming the highest-grossing horror film ever. Filmmaker Mike Flanagan has become one of the most acclaimed adapters of his work, with Doctor Sleep skillfully connecting King's novel and Kubrick's interpretation of The Shining.

People know that reality TV can be strange. Sometimes things that wouldn’t happen in the average Joe’s life might surface on a show to increase ratings. After seeing David Woolley meet Kody Brown, fans question if producers wanted Christine Brown Woolley to invite Robyn and Kody to her wedding.
Kody Brown And David Woolley’s First Meeting Is Tense
Undoubtedly, Sister Wives Season 19 is filling fans in on the “before the wedding” details for Christine Brown and David Woolley. During Gwendyln and Bea’s engagement party, the focus shifted to Kody Brown meeting David for the first time. Without a doubt, it was a tense interaction where Kody was attempting to size up his competition. But Christine made it clear she wasn’t going to invite Robyn and Kody to her wedding. If Kody attended the wedding, it would be a sight to see. Was TLC pushing for her to invite them?...

Sister Wives star Christine Brown has been enjoying getting to know her now-husband David Woolley on screen, but her parenting style has been called into question amid relationship backlash. Throughout Sister Wives season 19, viewers have gotten the opportunity to see Christine in a whole new light. While her time on the series has primarily revolved around her marriage to Kody Brown, things are changing for everyone in the family. Christine made the difficult choice to leave Kody and the plural marriage she was in for nearly 30 years during Sister Wives season 17, sparking others to do the same.
With Christine having left Kody first, her fellow sister wives Janelle Brown and Meri Brown werent far behind, leaving Kody with one remaining wife. Christines relationship with Kody and Robyn Brown has been changing, as is how she interacts with Meri and Janelle, but the relationship the series has been focused on is a new one for Christine.

The career of genre filmmaker Mike Flanagan is strongly tied to the works of author Stephen King. Flanagan has directed film adaptations of the King novels Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep. He tried and failed to bring an adaptation of King’s Revival to the screen. His upcoming film The Life of Chuck is another King adaptation, he’s developing the author’s Dark Tower saga as a Prime Video series, and we recently heard that he’ll be turning Carrie into an eight episode Prime Video series. He knows his King – which is why Movieweb asked him to name some of the most underrated King adaptations. Flanagan gladly did, mentioning a few great ones.
When Movieweb asked which King adaptations he thinks are underrated, Flanagan answered, “You know what jumped immediately to my mind? The Night Flier with Miguel Ferrer is a really good movie that I don’t...

John Carpenters adaptation of Stephen Kings Christine is a classic of 80s horror, and while the Christine cast is top-notch, what many genre fans remember most is Christine herself. This includes the scene where the car appears to completely repair itself right before the audience's eyes. Christine follows an unpopular nerd, Arnie Cunningham, who buys a red Plymouth Fury named Christine and steadily develops a strange and unhealthy obsession with the vehicle, much to the shock of his only friend, Dennis.
However, things get even worse when Arnies bully, Buddy Repperton, smashes Christine to bits, totaling the car; this causes her to suddenly put herself back together and go on a killing spree. The infamous scene occurs when Arnie returns to the garage and finds Christine beaten up, smashed, and generally irreparable. He breaks down, horrified at the sight of it all and not knowing how hell ever be able...

The 1983 Stephen King adaptation Christine saw director John Carpenter somehow make the premise of a killer car scary, and the horror movies ending proves that this story still holds up. The 1983 chiller Christine had a potentially silly premise in its story of a bullied teenager who wreaks violent vengeance on his tormentors via a cursed car. However, director John Carpenters adaptation of Christine managed to make this story scary, sad, and emotionally impactful as Arnie grew obsessed with his car Christine while Christine tore a bloody swathe through anyone who came between them. Arnies obsession gradually drove him away from his friends and family and toward a grisly end.

With many decades having passed since the 1983 release of John Carpenter's Christine, it's safe to say that the movie's cast has done a lot since then. Carpenter's horror film was written by Bill Phillips, based on Stephen King's horror novel of the same name. It follows a teenage nerd named Arnie Cunningham, who becomes obsessed with his new car, the titular Christine. Like the author's other works, the story takes a dark turn, with Christine revealed to be one of Stephen King's many killer cars prevalent in his novels and short stories.
Given its focus on teenage characters, the film adaptation starred a number of young actors who were just starting out in their careers, including Alexandra Paul, John Stockwell, and Kelly Preston. While relative unknowns in 1983, they've mostly gone on to have long careers in the many years since Christine's premiere, becoming much bigger names than they...

It hardly needs repeating, but director John Carpenter is known for making multiple horror classics, including "Halloween," "The Fog," "Christine," "The Thing," "Prince of Darkness," "In the Mouth of Madness" and "Vampires." Although Carpenter doesn't have a notable, recognizable style or motif in his filmography (apart from recurring actors) he does seem to possess a subtle, natural mastery of filmmaking craft that makes all his films, even the bad ones, imminently watchable.
Carpenter loves horror, of course, but oddly, he's not a horror guy at heart. He possesses an old-world workman's attitude when it comes to filmmaking, just sort of sussing out, by instinct, how to shoot a scene, regardless of genre. Carpenter has given multiple interviews where he's talked about monster movies and sci-fi flicks that inspired him, but moreso, Carpenter talks about the films of John Ford and Howard Hawks, two American filmmakers best known for their high-profile Westerns.
