Second revised version of the classic Mark Goodson game show, where celebrity-contestant teams conveyed passwords using one-word clues.
A high-stakes update of the classic game show, hosted by Bert Convy. Celebrity guests, paired off with the contestants, would be given a secret password. By giving clues and hints, they would try to help the contestant guess the password, with the first one to do so winning cash and prizes.
In the 2nd incarnation of the revised classic, 2 contestants & 1 a returning champion were paired with 2 celebrity guests. The passwords for which only 1-word clues could be given that led to the identity of a famous person, place, thing, title, etc. with up to 5 passwords per round. The 1st 2 rounds were worth $100 with all subsequent rounds worth $100 more than the previous round. The winner of the 2nd round that collected $200 and that'll be played a new feature "Cashword" where the celebrity could give up to 3 clues to help his/her partner guess an extra-difficult password; the payoff was $1,000 plus $1,000 for each time it was not won. The 1st to raise $500 was the champion and played the bonus round. Ten passwords, each beginning with a different and successive letter of the alphabet (e.g., A through J) were shown one at a time. The contestant won $100 per correct guess with a $5,000 payoff for guessing all 10 within the 60-second time limit; the jackpot grew by $5,000 for each time the bonus round was not won, leading to sometimes huge jackpots of $50,000 or more. An illegal clue threw the word out, as well as the contestant's chance at winning the jackpot, though the end game could still be played for $100 for every word if any remained. Players continued until defeated or winning 5 games. On occasion, all-celebrity weeks were featured with the celebrities each playing for a favorite charity.
