This Amazing Fan-Made Voltron Lego Set Will Become a Reality!

Lego builder Leandro a.k.a. len_d69 submitted this fan-made Voltron: Defender of the Universe Lego set to Lego Ideas and it got the 10,000 votes it needed to pushed into actual development! What's so awesome about this, is that each individual Lego built lion combines to form the giant robot Voltron!

I'm just surprised that Lego had never done this before! They needed a fan to come in design it and push it through. I don't buy a lot of Lego playsets but this is one that I'd definitly consider dropping some cash on. Here's a description of the set from the creator:

This is one of the popular super robots in the 80's. Based on the Japanese Anime "Beast King GoLion", it is made up of 5 robotic lions that combines to form Voltron.A childhood favorite, I tried to recreate Voltron as faithfully as I could in both lion and combined form.

Voltron Live-Action Movie Is Happening with X-Men Writer

This past summer, Universal Pictures' parent company NBCUniversal acquired DreamWorks Animation for $3.8 billion, with Universal Pictures inheriting the studio's slate of projects in development. One of these projects was actually a live-action adaptation of Voltron, which was being quietly developed at the studio. Today we have word that the project is in fact moving forward at Universal, with the studio setting X-Men and Watchmen writer David Hayter to write the script.

Deadline reports that Tom Engleman (The Chronicles of Riddick, The Lone Ranger) is set to produce. DreamWorks Animation is also behind the animated series Voltron: Legendary Defender, which debuted on Netflix this summer. It isn't known if there will be any connection between the live-action project and the animated series.

There had previously been a live action project called Voltron: Defender of the Universe, which was being developed by Atlas Entertainment several years ago. Thomas Dean DOnnelly and

Uncharted Movie Gets Stranger Things Director Shawn Levy

Uncharted Movie Gets Stranger Things Director Shawn Levy
Filmmaker Shawn Levy, who most recently executive produced the first season of Netflix's hit series Stranger Things, while directing two episodes of the show, has come aboard to breathe new life into Sony's long-gestating video game adaptation Uncharted. Joe Carnahan was previously set to direct from his own script, but he recently had to part ways with the project, due to his commitment to another Sony project, Bad Boys For Life, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. With Shawn Levy now on board, the movie has been put on the fast track, but it remains unclear when filming may begin.

Deadline broke the news about Shawn Levy taking the helm, but no further details about this project were given. Joe Carnahan wrote the most recent version of the script, but it isn't known if Shawn Levy will direct from that draft, or if another writer will be brought in. Shawn Levy

Watch 'He-Man' Reality Show 'The Real Masters of Eternia'
For the better part of the past decade, a new Masters of the Universe movie has been trying to get off the ground, with several studios taking a crack at this beloved franchise. Sony has been developing the franchise since 2009, picking up the rights from Warner Bros. We reported back in January that McG entered talks to direct, although we haven't had any updates since then. For those who have been waiting for He-Man and the rest of these iconic characters to hit the big screen, DreamWorks TV has some comic relief for you today, with the animated spoof reality series The Real Masters of Eternia.

This hilarious eight-minute spoof takes footage from the 1980s animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and with the help of some crafty editing and new voice actors, turns these characters battling for Eternia into roommates, who have all moved into Castle Greyskull.

'Voltron' Returns in First Look at New Netflix Animated Series

Back in early January, Netflix announced a new Voltron animated series that would start streaming sometime this year. The official logo debuted last month, but now we have our first official photo from the series, thanks to USA Today. This photo comes just one day before the first footage will be unveiled at WonderCon in Anaheim, California tomorrow.

This new series, entitled Voltron: Legendary Defender, will follow the formula of the original show, Voltron: Defender of the Universe, which debuted in 1984. The story tracks the adventures of a team of astronauts and a princess from the planet Arus, who all pilot a massive robot. But there will be one major change in the new series: the pilots will all be teenagers. New 'Voltron' Series Title and Logo Revealed by Netflix

Last month, Netflix announced that it is teaming up with Nerdist Industries and DreamWorks Animation to create a new animated Voltron TV series, although it isn't known when the series may debut. Today, Nerdist has unveiled the official logo for the TV series, which reveals the official title is Voltron: Legendary Defender. The streaming service hasn't announced any voice cast members yet, or the creative talent behind the show.

This report claims that the show will follow the formula of the original series, Voltron: Defender of the Universe, which debuted in 1984. The story follows the adventures of a team of astronauts who all pilot a massive robot. The original series only ran for three seasons, but it spawned other shows such as Voltron: The Third Dimension in 1998 and, most recently, Voltron Force in 2011. However, there will one big change with the new series.

Nerdist reports that the series will center on five teenagers,

'Power Rangers' Movie Lines Up 'Project Almanac' Director

'Power Rangers' Movie Lines Up 'Project Almanac' Director
We haven't heard much on Lionsgate's Power Rangers reboot since Roberto Orci backed out of producing the movie back in September. We reported in January that production will begin sometime this year, which is getting closer to actually happening, now that The Wrap reports Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) is in talks to direct. The filmmaker is said to be a huge fan of the franchise, and he has also turned down a number of studio tentpole projects, waiting for the right one to come around.

The project is a theatrical reboot of the 1990s hit TV series Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, which followed a group of high school kids who attain super-human powers, making them masters of martial arts. Their powers also gave them the ability to control interconnecting robots, similar to the 1980s animated TV series Voltron: Defender of the Universe. The series spawned the 1995 feature Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie

Voltron: Defender of the Universe Review: Shallow Nostalgic Fun

I am a child of the 80s. My afternoons each day were full of half-hour commercials - thinly disguised as cartoons - that featured cars and jets that turned into robots, a special forces, anti-terrorist military squad, five metal lions that formed a mega robot that defended our universe, and Jem and the Holograms (don't ask).

Of these great cartoons of my youth, most have been brought back to the public eye in the form of mega-blockbuster films and/or next-gen games. And finally, Voltron: Defender of the Universe is getting some love.

Voltron tells the story of five pilots who are entrusted with ancient robotic lions that, when the going gets tough, can form into a huge robot, complete with a kick-ass sword, to, well, defend the universe. It's the perfect subject matter for a video game, right?

Voltron: Defender of the Universe is an arcade shooter from developer

Director Gore Verbinski Getting Into The Xbox Business

The Pirates of the Caribbean and Rango director to develop exclusive content for the 360 and other Microsoft platforms.

Filmmaker Gore Verbinski is following in the footsteps of Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, with plans to develop video game content and more for Microsoft. The Hollywood Reporter has detailed an agreement between Verbinski's Blind Wink Productions and Microsoft to create a Kinect-based Xbla game for the 360 to be released sometime late in 2012 as well as additional content--whatever shape that may take--for other Microsoft devices. There's no detail on the duration of the exclusivity agreement or what additional devices, type of content this will entail. I know a couple of years back, Microsoft tried to get into original video content, enlisting horror directors to create comedy shorts but since then there hasn't been any kind of deal of this nature.

I mention Jackson and Spielberg at the top because both present--well, not

Review: 'Voltron: Defender of the Universe' (Xbla)

The beloved 80's animated series gets its first downloadable title. Does it shine bright like Voltron's sword, or does it make you feel like you've been cursed by the witch Haggar?

Fighting the evil King Zarkon's forces with... a twin-stick shooter?

The biggest surprise during my time with Voltron is that developer Behaviour Interactive went the twin-stick route for this beloved franchise--you know the drill, move with the left stick, shoot with the right. Actually, the biggest surprise is how much precious little time you'll spend as the iconic giant robot, but more on that in a bit. You'll spend the bulk of your time here commanding one of the five lions that make up the Voltron Force. Each one has unique stats in terms of health and attack power, etc. at the start menu with slight different attacks. I chose the Black Lion because even in the cartoon, objectively
