Quotes

  • Det. Mike Fisher : What did you think about that call to Cas?

Jerry Thompson : Phone records show that he made one every single night a girl vanished. I'd call that more than a coincidence.

Det. Mike Fisher : I think Theodore had a need to tell Mommy he was a really good boy after all. A little stroking.

Richard Larsen : I loved that bit about the patent leather shoes. Ted says he's never had any, and this guy who lives in Ted's apartment house sits there on the stand: "I distinctly remember Ted Bundy wearing patent leather shoes because I happen to hate patent leather shoes!"

Jerry Thompson : So do you think you're going to be able to get a murder indictment in Colorado?

Det. Mike Fisher : If it's the last thing I do. We got a couple of bodies to work with. The FBI forensic specialists may take their own damn time, but they've finally given us some honest-to-God evidence.

    Richard Larsen : What? I didn't hear...

Det. Mike Fisher : We're not telling the press yet, or Theodore. This is off the record, Dick. We know you're ethical. We also know you like him.

Richard Larsen : I used to like him. I don't hate him.

Det. Mike Fisher : I don't hate him.

Jerry Thompson : I hate him.

Det. Mike Fisher : I lied. I hate him too.

  • Richard Larsen : [Voiceover- first lines]  My name is Richard Larsen. You'll meet me soon at the beginning of our story, our nightmare that began in Seattle in 1974, and ended, for most of us, in Miami in 1979. It didn't end for the families, the husbands, the lovers of the victims. It will never end for them. This story is about them too: the victims, their loved ones, and the few dedicated men who didn't give up.

  • Richard Larsen : [Voiceover- last lines]  On July 31, 1979, Ted Bundy was sentenced to death for the murders of Linda Cruyden and Eve Thorncrest. He also received three consecutive sentences for assault on the other three victims. On February 12, 1980, Ted Bundy was sentenced to death for the murder of the 12 year old school girl, Lee Fletcher, whose sexually abused body was found during the sorority murders trial. Ted Bundy is held at Raiford State Penitentiary, North Central Florida on death row. The governor has denied clemency. On January 15, 1986, the eighth anniversary of the sorority murders, Theodore Robert Bundy petitioned the United States Supreme Court for a review of his convictions and the denial of clemency.

  • Det. Bob Keppel : Well, at least they got the animal locked up.

Jerry Thompson : Yeah. Florida won't let him go. They'll fry him down here.

Det. Mike Fisher : I'll drink to that.

Det. Bob Keppel : Richard, you couldn't possibly still have any doubts.

Richard Larsen : No, no doubts. I was just remembering Ted asking me where they execute people these days, and I said, "Maybe Florida". I think maybe Ted Bundy came here to destroy that part that he knows is a monster.

Det. Mike Fisher : You know, it's weird that every time Theodore's been caught, it's because of his lousy driving. They ought to send him to remedial driving school before the chair. I sentence you, Theodore Bundy, to driver's ed.
