Acclaimed actress Glenn Close displayed her good sense of humor when she shared a series of selfies on Instagram that showed her face bruised from a recent medical procedure.
In the candid close-up shots, Close playfully poses for the camera with tousled hair and a cozy cardigan. Alongside the images, she wrote, “I think this is going to be a particularly Good day,” in anticipation of her 77th birthday.
She acknowledged the bruises and explained that she had undergone a minor procedure to address a small break in her nose, but emphasized that she still felt as beautiful as ever.
While Close’s Instagram account typically features scenic landscapes and occasional political posts, the actress recently shared a video of herself making goofy faces.
“It’s morning in a new place away from home. I’m wishing I didn’t have to wash and brush my hair. #bedhead,” she wrote in the caption.

Glenn Close’s career brought her an eighth Oscar nomination in the supporting actress category for her role as Mamaw, the chain-smoking, foul-mouthed, “Terminator” franchise fan and tough-love proponent who takes her struggling grandson under her wing in Ron Howard’s “Hillbilly Elegy.”
Some critics thought Close was the saving grace of the film based on J.D. Vance’s memoir that focuses on an Appalachian family who have fallen on hard times when their once-thriving steel mill town in Ohio is riddled by poverty, addiction, domestic abuse and dead-end jobs.
Close holds the title of the most Oscar losses for an actress, in a tie with the late Peter O’Toole’s losing streak. Olivia Colman‘s performance as ditzy Queen Anne in “The Favourite” allowed her to be crowned with the Best Actress title over Close’s work in 2018’s “The Wife.”

Fear (1996) was seen as a teen version of "Fatal Attraction," starring Mark Wahlberg as the villain. Despite negative reviews, Fear became a sleeper hit, earning $20 million at the box office. Wahlberg's role in Fear was his only true villainous character and led to his nomination for Best Villain at the MTV Movie Awards.
Mark Wahlberg (in his only true villainous role) starred alongside Reese Witherspoon in Fear, a movie that was seemingly inspired by a similar psychological thriller from the 1980s. The 1996 film was directed by James Foley and written by Christopher Crowe, and its story revolves around the strange romance between Wahlberg's David McCall and Witherspoon's Nicole Walker. Nicole is only 16, while David is 23, but their age difference in Fear isn't the only red flag. As the movie goes on, David's true character starts revealing itself, leading to an intense narrative that many compared to a previous critically acclaimed film.

Hollywood never met a success story it didn't want to replicate, whether it's the rash of attempts at cinematic universes or the rise of the Western. The erotic thriller was no exception, especially with Fatal Attraction. It was parodied in Family Guy, remade into a streaming series on Paramount+, and director Adrian Lynne tried to recapture its glory with the Hulu film Deep Water. The most blatant attempt to cash in on Fatal Attraction, however, would be Fear — to the point where producer Brian Grazer used it as a touchpoint.

The 1990s are regularly regarded as the era of the high-concept thriller. In the wake of eighties smashes like Jagged Edge and Fatal Attraction, audiences tended to flock to these kinds of movies, although it’s worth noting they quickly spun off into two different mini-genres. There was the erotic thriller genre, whose queen was definitely Sharon Stone, with movies like Basic Instinct and Sliver, but there was also the so-called yuppie thriller.
These movies often centred around upwardly mobile middle-class couples who wind up in the crosshairs of a maniac who wants to dismantle their lives. Fatal Attraction was arguably the first of these. Still, many more would follow, including Pacific Heights, which featured Michael Keaton in a memorably evil role, Bad Influence (with Rob Lowe), Internal Affairs (which revitalized Richard Gere’s career), Malice, and the great Single White Female. But, of the genre, one of the most effective was 1992’s Unlawful Entry,...

Tyler Perry is bringing the erotic thriller back. Inspired by the steamy psychological thrillers of the '80s and '90s — think Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct — the latest from the writer-director is a far cry from his comedies, and takes a darker turn than his simmering dramas. Mea Culpa, starring Kelly Rowland and Trevonte Rhodes, explores the depths of human desire.

Since its release in 1987, Fatal Attraction has retained a well-earned slot on film history's lengthy list of best psychological thrillers. Fatal Attraction is also noteworthy for generating discussion regarding cinematic portrayals of gender dynamics and mental health, with detractors voicing opposition to the film's sympathetic treatment of Douglas' character compared to its damning and simplistic framing of Close's as "another female psycho."...

Now it’s also available to rent or purchase on VOD. Timothée Chalamet earned a Golden Globe nomination for the title role, but that was the extent of the movie’s awards favor aside from one BAFTA nod. In a rare rebuff for a big-budget original musical, none of its numbers made the Oscars’ Best Original Song shortlist. “If you ever come near my family again, I’ll kill you. Do you understand?”
We’ve all heard the phrase “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” We pull it out when we see a woman reacting to the hurtful choices of a romantic partner, standing up for herself after rejection, or really expressing any kind of powerful emotions at all. It’s a bon mot so pervasive that it makes you wonder if there are any men in hell. Maybe it’s all just hysterical women pulling hair and trying to steal each other’s boyfriends. Regardless of this reductive phrase and dehumanizing stereotype, few films in the history of cinema explore the concept of the scorned woman like Adrian Lyne’s Fatal Attraction. This cautionary tale about infidelity and revenge pits two women against each other for the love of one man with a surprising female killer emerging from the wreckage.

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" has had some wild guest stars over the years, from Guillermo del Toro to P. Diddy. Usually, the celebrities only appear for a single episode, but one Oscar nominee actually had a recurring role in season 2.
That actor is Anne Archer, whose performance as Beth Gallagher in the 1987 mega-hit "Fatal Attraction" earned her a Golden Globe nomination as well as an Academy Award nomination. Archer's time on "Sunny" was short-lived but unforgettable. The actor plays Barbara Reynolds, mother to Dee and Dennis and ex-wife of Frank. Barbara resurfaces in her family's lives in the season 2 episode "The Gang Goes Jihad" to regain control of her possessions after being divorced by Frank and robbed by her children.
Series co-creator and star Glenn Howerton has described Archer's performance in her debut episode as "very funny" and "amazing" (via the "Always Sunny" Podcast). The actor was not...

What if you combined movies like Fair Play, Gone Girl, Fatal Attraction, A Teacher, May December and even Fifty Shades of Grey? An artificial intelligence output involving these films might be a sort of erotic thriller about an inappropriate teacher-student rapport on the outskirts of civilization, something like Miller's Girl. It's a sexually charged story that weaves in juicy side plots dealing with the struggles of a writer and maintaining a day job amid tricky circumstances.
It helps that the red-hot Jenna Ortega and seasoned veteran Martin Freeman are around to inject some life in an otherwise underwhelming film. Writer-director Jade Halley Bartlett has an impressive grasp on the technical aspect of her craft, and promises good things for her future. But even the committed turns from Ortega and Freeman can't save Miller's Girl from ultimately flopping due to emotional flatness and a weak ending.

Paramount has decided to not move forward with a second season of “Wolf Pack,” Variety has confirmed.
Based on Edo Van Belkom’s book series and created by Jeff Davis, the show follows two teens whose lives are changed when a California wildfire awakens a supernatural creature. Season 1 aired in Jan 2023 alongside the “Teen Wolf” movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rodrigo Santoro, Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson and Tyler Lawrence Gray starred.
Sources say Paramount hoped the audience behind the series would have grown from Season 1 to Season 2, but due to the dual Hollywood strikes, the likelihood of that happening was cut short since production was stopped. Season 2 would’ve arrived roughly two years after Season 1 debuted.
The series serves as the latest Paramount+ original to be canceled following “Joe Pickett,” which ended after two seasons in October 2023. Along with the rest of last year’s cancellations including “iCarly,...

Like all movie genres, the thriller genre has many branches, one of which being erotic thrillers. While at its core, the film is a thriller, it will also include romantic sub-plots that often play just as large a role, usually having the romance and danger toe a similar line. It usually features a femme fatale and a fall guy. Aka, the guy who falls for the femme fatale’s charms against his better judgment, thus giving us our plot. The genre first rose to popularity in the late 80s with the release of Fatal Attraction. Naturally, Fatal Attraction’s success led to more films of a similar nature, which then gave us films like Indecent Proposal, Eyes Wide Shut, and perhaps most synonymous with the genre, Basic Instinct. But in 2002, another erotic thriller took the world by storm, gaining popularity and acclaim. Unfaithful comes from Adrian Lyne and stars Diane Lane,...
