The song "Repave Amerika" appears on the soundtrack, written by Tim Robbins and performed by Bob Roberts. This was four years before Bob Roberts (1992), written and directed by Robbins.
The band Ranchbone in this movie is portrayed by the real life ska-punk band Fishbone. Both Tim Robbins and John Cusack are big fans of the band in real life. Tim Robbins can even be seen wearing a Fishbone t-shirt in a scene in the movie Bull Durham released earlier that same year.
