Storyline

Burgess Meredith narrates this exhaustive documentary of filmmaker Otto Preminger, an iconic producer, director, and actor, whose career spanned the Golden Age in Hollywood in the 40s to the international movie scene of the 70s. Scenes from classic films like "Laura," Anatomy of a Murder," "Exodus," and "Advise and Consent" are shown along with such co-workers as Saul Bass, Vincent Price, Deborah Kerr, Michael Caine, Frank Sinatra, and James Stewart. Over a long career Preminger managed to maintain his artistic integrity as well as push the limits of censorship and the Hollywood Backlist. Written by duke1029@aol.com

Some good parts but mostly boring
8 September 2017 | by preppy-3See all my reviews

Documentary about director Otto Preminger and his films. It doesn't go over all his films only the hits like "Laura", "The Man With the Golden Arm", "Anatomy of a Murder", "Advise and Consent" and "The Cardinal". There's plenty of clips from the movies but they go on far too long. Also plenty of talking heads of actors, producers and such who worked with him. Most of them praise him to the high heavens except for Tom Tryon who went through hell working for him. Narrated in a ponderous fashion by Burgess Meredith. I found this dull, dull, DULL. Also the documentary conveniently ignores his big-budget bombs like "Skidoo" and "The Human Factor". Dull and disappointing.
