Brazilian Netflix films are fun to watch. They’ve been releasing a lot of romantic comedy movies in the hope of attracting an audience that still loves over-the-top, outlandish love stories. These stories might not be relatable, but the characters in them seem to be having fun. There were Rich in Love Parts 1 and 2, and Christmas Full of Grace, both Netflix originals about the most bizarre meet-cutes, yet the couple ended up together. Zero to Hero is yet another romantic comedy that involves someone assuming the identity of another man and how he ends up meeting the love of his life by keeping his real identity hidden.

Piper Laurie, who blossomed as an actress only after extricating herself from the studio system and went on to rack up three Oscar nominations, has died. She was 91.
Laurie’s manager Marion Rosenberg confirmed the news to Variety, writing, “A beautiful human being and one of the great talents of our time.”
Laurie scored her first Oscar nomination for her work opposite Paul Newman in 1961’s classic poolhall drama “The Hustler,” in which she played an alcoholic who memorably tells Newman’s character, “Look, I’ve got troubles and I think maybe you’ve got troubles. Maybe it’d be better if we just leave each other alone.”
Though she informally retired to raise a family for more than a decade, she returned to film and television in the mid-’70s and racked up an impressive roster of characterizations, including Oscar-nominated turns in “Carrie” and in “Children of a Lesser God,...

Will There Be Rich In Love 3? Well, Netflix’s Brazilian romantic film ‘Rich in Love’ takes viewers on an endearing journey through the lives of Teto and Paula, two individuals who manage to maintain a captivating togetherness despite their differences.
In the sequel, aptly titled ‘Rich in Love 2,’ the story delves into another intricate chapter of their relationship.
This time, Paula embarks on a journey to the Amazon, dedicating herself to serving the indigenous communities as a doctor. The film focuses on Teto’s relentless efforts to reunite with her after her departure.
While ‘Rich in Love 2’ received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences, it still garnered praise for its heartwarming moments, particularly showcasing the chemistry between Danilo Mesquita’s Teto and Giovanna Lancellotti’s Paula.
Directed by Bruno Garotti, the film concludes with the couple facing a pivotal decision that could determine the fate of their relationship.

The Gabrielle Union-starring rom-com The Perfect Find and new seasons of deceptive baking sensation Is It Cake? and The Witcher, marking the beginning of the end of Henry Cavill’s starring run, are some of the much-anticipated titles still set to come to Netflix this month.
In The Perfect Find, Union plays a fashion editor who, after a public breakup and career implosion, starts working for her former rival Darcy Hill (Gina Torres) and catches the eye of a younger videographer (Keith Powers), who happens to be the boss’ son. As a romance blossoms, Union’s character begins to question what she really wants from the next phase of her life. The film, directed by Numa Perrier, is based on Tia Williams’ award-winning novel of the same name and also stars Janet Hubert, D.B. Woodside, Aisha Hinds, La La Anthony and others.

As we creep towards summer, Netflix has a hot new list of fresh content, including the final season of “Never Have I Ever,” the sophomore season of ‘Human Resources” and the highly anticipated sixth season of “Black Mirror.”
Kicking off the start of the month on mega streamer are lots of family-friendly goodies like both “Nanny McPhee” and “Nanny McPhee Returns,” “Kicking and Screaming,” “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” and the “Angry Birds Movie.” But the adults won’t be left out of the conversation, as more mature flicks and series like “Jarhead,” “Funny People” and “We’re the Millers” are also hitting the platform this month.
And it wouldn’t be Netflix without its originals. “Take Care of Maya,” “Extraction 2” and the Sarah Snook-led “Run Rabit Run” will land on the site in June. And even if this isn’t enough to get you watching, Netflix will be streaming its Tudum festival on Saturday,...

Rich in Love was an endearing tale of a rich brat finding his foothold in the world of agriculture and wanting to earn his place instead of having everything handed to him on a platter. It was a delightful movie about how two different people from two different lifestyles can get along and find common ground when it comes to relationships and work. Though the first film was all about love, the second film came nowhere close to how charming the first one was. Rich in Love 2 is just another sequel that disappoints. Directed by Bruno Garotti again, this Brazilian Netflix original had nothing going on, and here is why:
Rich in Love 2 begins where the first film ended. Teto and his partners are running the co-op Teto Fresco, which grows premium organic tomatoes on rooftops, but currently, it is not as profitable as it was a few years ago.

Good romantic comedies are endearing, especially if they are made with the right intent. How will they retain the spark while trudging through the lies being told to keep the relationship afloat? This and more below make Rich in Love an interesting watch.
Plot Synopsis: What Happens In ‘Rich In Love’ Film?
Rich in Love introduces the viewers to Teto Trancoso from Paty do Alferes. He is the heir to his father’s agricultural empire, which grows, markets, and sells tomatoes all around the country. The boy is the epitome of a rich brat who has no clue about the amount of hard work that is being put in to make the company run. Teto’s only friend, Igor, is the...

Netflix gained a new competitor last month (sort of) when HBO Max and Discovery+ combined forces to create the confusingly-named Max. With its list of new releases for June 2023, however, Netflix doesn’t have too much to worry about.
This month is filled with some major Netflix original titles, not the least of which is The Witcher season 3 volume 1 on June 29. Though star Henry Cavill is set to leave the Polish folklore/video game adaptation in season 4, he remains very much entrenched as the titular Witcher in this next go-around. Other big TV hits include Manifest season 4 part 2 (June 2), Big Mouth spinoff Human Resources season 2 (June 9), and animated King Kong series Skull Island (June 22). That’s not even to mention the return of Black Mirror season 6. That still has yet to receive a release date but we have no doubt it will be properly epic once it arrives.

In the 2010 documentary Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy, Wes Craven predicts that when he dies his obituaries will say “Probably best known for inventing Freddy Krueger.” When he passed away last Sunday the New York Times headline read “Wes Craven, Whose Slasher Films Terrified Millions, Dies at 76,” but the second paragraph of his obit did say, “perhaps Mr. Craven’s most famous creation was the serial killer Freddy Krueger, played by Robert Englund, who, with his razor-blade glove, haunted the dreams of high school students in ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ and its sequels.”Though he had been making films for 12 years, starting with the Bergman-inspired Last House on the Left in 1972—not to mention a few years of making porn films before that—it was A Nightmare on Elm Street, a little indie horror film that he both wrote and directed, that made Wes Craven’s fortune.

There are all kinds of producers: hucksters, hustlers, con men and schlockmeisters. Some are in it for the glory, some like to walk the red carpet with a starlet on their arm. For some, the biggest award is a box office hit and it doesn’t matter what kind of crap they throw on the screen to earn it. There are producers like Harvey Weinstein who will spend more money to promote himself to an Oscar win than he does on actually making the Oscar-winning film. And there are producers like Joel Silver who once said the only proper role for women in film was either as a dead body or naked.
And there are those – who, to be honest, may also have a touch of all of this – who are mainly driven by a desire to make good movies. Like Dick Zanuck.
I don’t think anyone will argue...

“I have seen the film three times now and each time I come away with a different perspective,” Kyle MacLachlan says. The 51-year-old star of ABC’s Desperate Housewives is discussing his latest film, Mao’s Last Dancer. Based on the best selling autobiography by ballet dancer Li Cunxin, it tells of the sweeping story of a young boy born into poverty in rural China, his selection for ballet training in Beijing and his later defiant defection to the United States.
“The last time I watched it I realized that apart from the training and the discipline evident in Li’s life, it was the value of his mentors and how at critical times within his life, someone — or perhaps a memory or something that someone has said — would come forward and how that would resonate and propel him further.
