  • A man heavily beats a woman in her home, the actual beating is not shown as it takes place after the woman has fallen behind a couch, but the man's punches are shown and the woman's screams are heard. He then drags her through the halls of the house in front of their children. Can be upsetting for the viewer. R
  • A scene involves Ike and Tina walking into a hotel after having a fight, their clothing and faces are covered with blood and swollen faces.
  • A woman looks in a bathroom mirror after a fight with her husband and her face is shown terribly swollen with busted lips and eyebrows with blood all over. She starts to clean her wounds and winces in pain. R
  • Near the end of the film, Ike threatens Tina with a gun.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Numerous scenes of people smoking and drinking.
  • One scene where man is seen smoking pot and yelling and fighting in a restaurant as a result.
  • One scene where man is seen snorting cocaine in large amounts.
  • One scene has Tina passing out from a drug overdose. She isn't seen taking pills, but it's assumed by one of her sisters finding an empty pill bottle, followed by a scene of Tina throwing up and having her stomach pumped inside an ambulance.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Take the R rating very seriously on this film. While teenagers who have an interest in music and biographies of musicians may be interested this film is not for children of any age. It is a very violent, disturbing, and profane film that can be very unpleasant and hard to watch.
  • There is a scene halfway through the movie in which a man rapes his wife. The scene happens suddenly and quickly. They are shown from the waist up with no nudity. The scene is quite disturbing.
  • Numerous scenes where man hits and abuses woman. One scene where both main characters have fight in limo, lots of hitting, kicking, and blood shown. Very intense and graphic.
  • A woman threatens a woman with a gun. PG-13
