Sex & Nudity

  • During the making of Glen or Glenda, Dolores takes off her sweater and gives it to Ed Wood. We see her wearing a bra.
  • Bunny (who is a small character in the movie) tells he is going to have his sex change. The last thing he says is "Good-bye, penis". Later on in the movie he reveals that he didn't get one cause the doctor was a "quack" this scene is supposed to be comedic
  • There are references to cross dressing and "transvestites" through the movie. Although nothing is ever shown besides one quick scene of a man trying to cast another man who looks as if he's cross dressing in his movie.
  • All the sexual content in this movie is supposed to be comedic. This movie is only R for its infrequent strong profanity
  • An illustration of a breast is seen on a real movie poster, non-sexual. One character is said to be a transvestite and there is some brief mild sexual dialogue.
  • Ed Wood is seen wearing women's clothing a few times throughout.
  • A boy briefly grabs Vampira's breasts during a movie premiere.

Violence & Gore

  • Bela Lugosi shouts at a man for mentioning Karloff.
  • Ed Wood, his girlfriend and his friend watch wrestling. We see a wrestler throw another wrestler over the ring and crashes at a bunch of men and fall over.
  • Ed Wood gets shouted at on the phone.
  • The entire cinema audience throw popcorn at the screen. The group who made the film struggle to take seats due to the audience throwing popcorn and one member grabs Vampira's breasts and pushes him away. Ed Wood saves them by dragging them out. Together, they run from them. A young girl ducks on the hood of a taxi and they all enter as the audience chases them.
  • A woman throws household items at her boyfriend including glass items and comically chases him around with a frying pan. Distraught partially from drug abuse, a man attempts suicide with a revolver, but he doesn't go through with it. The same character is seen with track marks on his arms from said drug abuse.
  • A giant rubber octopus prop falls from the ceiling and lands on a man, they think he is dead but then he gets up.
  • Mainly played for laughs.

Profanity

  • A man calls another man a "limey cocksucker."
  • "Screw you" is said by a man on the phone.
  • One use of "tits".
  • Bill Murray's character calls another character a "c**ksucker" while in Church it's hard to hear and Ed Wood quickly corrects him
  • Fairly strong language. 7 uses of the 'f' word, a few uses of "shit", "cocksucker" and "asshole" and "goddamn". Other mild profanities throughout the film.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Ed Wood smokes in a bar and throws it outside of the bar.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Bela Lugosi (as Dracula) scares children away for trick or treating, but one child doesn't move. Ed Wood pulls out his dentures and scares him away. Played for laughs.
  • Nothing harmful except it has minimal drug content.
  • Dolores throws stuff at Ed might be a little intense, but is meant to be funny.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Implied use of morphine, the needles are shown and the pain of it. A character is seen quitting morphine "cold turkey" in a padded cell, screaming in pain. . People are seen smoking (keep in mind this was before cigarettes had warning labels) and drinking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Bela Lugosi dies. We see the funeral taking place.
  • Bela Lugosi holds a revolver to his head preparing to commit suicide and asking Ed Wood to come with him, but he doesn't go through with it.
  • Bela Lugosi in rehab after quitting morphine "cold turkey" screams in pain.
