After the collapse of the studio system, when actors were finally given more autonomy regarding their careers and were much more free to choose the types of roles and films they'd appear in, the true test of an actor became what happened when and if they reached megastardom. Some stars love the limelight so much that they try and give their public what it is they think they want to see over and over again, and can find themselves feeling burned out or too typecast in the process. Others become much more reclusive, either outright refusing easy paycheck jobs or being extremely picky about their projects. Then there are those stars who manage to straddle the line between the commercial and artistic sides of their vocation, and are able to spin their newfound clout into a mixture of roles that demonstrate not only their range, but also their creative curiosity.

Did Quentin Tarantino disown Natural Born Killers? (Photo Credit – Facebook/Prime Video)
Quentin Tarantino, one of the biggest names behind the camera in all of Hollywood, is as famous for his directorial masterpieces like Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds as for movies that never saw the light of day as originally envisioned. Recently, Tarantino’s proposed final hurrah, The Movie Critic, joined the caliber of projects that never materialized.
In his formative years, the Reservoir Dogs director had to settle for selling his screenplays to studios and other directors, such as True Romance, which Tony Scott directed. However, this Christian Slater–Patricia Arquette movie — also featuring future Tarantino collaborator Brad Pitt — isn’t even the filmmaker’s most popular runaway couple tale; an honor that belongs to Natural Born Killers, albeit for all the wrong reasons, which even led Tarantino, who originally conceived it, to disown the movie.

You know, in the filmmaking world, there’s a lot of smoke and mirrors. Directors, actors, producers—they all make it look easy, like the magic is happening effortlessly. But behind the scenes, it’s a whole different story. It’s the moments of doubt, hesitation, and vulnerability that often make the biggest impact. Just ask M. Night Shyamalan, whose heart probably skipped a beat when he had to ask Bruce Willis for a retake while filming The Sixth Sense.

During a particularly tense scene, Shyamalan wasn’t happy with how the take turned out. He could’ve stayed silent, let it slide, and hoped it would work in the editing room. Instead, he did something that took a lot of guts—he asked Willis to do that scene again.

Known for his provocative and controversial style, Quentin Tarantino has never shied away from exploring dark, violent, and uncomfortable themes in films like Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. And it was during the latter that he remained firm about his storytelling approach, even when the disgraced industry mogul Harvey Weinstein warned him about a particular scene.

Tarantino reflected on the challenging relationship with Weinstein’s Miramax after the studio took on distribution for his directorial debut, the 1992 crime thriller. Weinstein had requested the removal of one particular scene, a demand that Tarantino firmly rejected.

Actress Uma Thurman rose to prominence in the 1990s with movies like Pulp Fiction. She experienced even more fame thanks to her starring role in Quentin Tarantino’s two-part martial arts action film Kill Bill in the early 2000s. Shortly before the film revitalized her career, Thurman went through a messy divorce.

"The Simpsons" has made many absurd predictions over the years that have actually come true. Such premonitions have led some to believe "The Simpsons" writing staff contains time travelers who are able to see into the future. But that theory doesn't hold up to scrutiny because if that was the case, you'd hope they'd avoid making some problematic jokes that wouldn't age well.
It's natural for TV shows from the 1980s and '90s to have bits that seem crude in retrospect. It's actually kind of a good thing because it shows just how far society has come that making fun of certain groups or ideas is no longer acceptable. Of course, not every joke ages poorly due to political correctness. Sometimes, a show makes a joke about something that makes sense in the moment, but after a couple of years, people forget what it was even supposed to be about.

You know a movie is legendary when, even decades later, its characters are still imprinted on our minds. When you think of Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 crime masterpiece, Pulp Fiction, what flashes before your eyes? The razor-sharp dialogue, the unforgettable dance between Mia and Vincent, or perhaps the sight of Vincent Vega in that iconic black suit, exuding effortless cool?
For those of us who lived through the early ’90s cinematic revolution, Pulp Fiction is one of those rare films that stuck in our minds like gum on the bottom of a shoe.

The IMDb top-250 is a curious portrait of populist taste. The list is, it's worth remembering, culled only from user ratings on the IMDb website, and, judging by the films on the list, the average IMDb user seems to be a college-age white male with a taste for crime, guns, fantasy, and the ultra-masculine. The top movies on the list all seem to be the types of movies that young men would own posters for, proudly displayed on their dorm room walls. There are many unassailable classics, to be sure, and young teens could easily look to the list as a rudimentary introduction to the world of cinema, but the list seems ... skewed. There's not a lot of variety. It's not curated by a single critic, nor even a panel of critics. It's just a general consensus of the taste of the types of people who like to rate movies on IMDb.

When it comes to celebrities, unlikely connections are a frequent occurrence between two people which no fan would ever think of being connected. Yet, when it comes to similar last names, fans are quick to jump to conclusions and declare an ill-founded relationship. And Samuel L. Jackson, the legendary Hollywood actor, and Lamar Jackson, the American professional football player, are two notable names that many believe are connected since they share the same last name.

Samuel L. Jackson is one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation and is widely hailed as a cinematic legend. On the other hand, we have Lamar Jackson, the quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League. For the past couple of years, there have been rumors about Jackson ‘the actor’ and Jackson ‘the football player’ being related since they share some similarities.

While Hollywood often rewards charm, good looks, and box-office hits, Tom Cruise’s enduring love from his fans goes beyond the glossy exterior. One of the most defining moments in his career was his bold stance against Harvey Weinstein.

When Todd Field, the director behind Little Children and Tár, found his debut film In the Bedroom at the mercy of Weinstein’s notorious habit of helping filmmakers by hacking up their creations, it was Cruise’s intervention that saved the day. Filmmakers had long feared Weinstein’s heavy hand in editing—changing films so drastically that their original soul often disappeared in the process.
But Cruise didn’t just stand idly by. In fact, his advice was the lifeline that Field and his team needed.

Yellowstone recently got a famous critic: Quentin Tarantino. The famed director recently talked about the Paramount Network drama while appearing on a podcast. However, fans of the series weren’t too happy about his comments.
Quentin Tarantino Talked About Whether Movies Or Television Was Superior
Over the years, Tarantino has become known as an influential director with his own cult following. Some films he’s known for include Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, and the Kill Bill films.
The director recently made an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. While there, whether movies were better than television shows became a topic of discussion.

At the risk of sounding like Nicole Kidman: We all know the feelings that unite an audience in a movie theater. Yet when I went to see the rereleased “Interstellar,” I was struck by a new feeling. Taking my seat in front of the IMAX screen at the AMC Lincoln Square, I was honestly shocked to see that at a 2:45 p.m. Friday showing of a 10-year-old movie, an incredibly large theater, with dramatic banked seating — the only true IMAX theater in Manhattan — was totally packed.
This was the kickoff of the film’s second weekend. (Last weekend it took in a neat $4.6 million on 165 screens.) And before the movie had even started, it struck me that those of us in the audience were already profoundly united in wanting to reexperience “Interstellar.” There were some, of course, who had never seen it. Yet this was basically a revival...

Should you ever need to give your watchlist some extra oomph, you can't go wrong by referring to IMDb's Top 250 list, which includes some of the best movies that cinema has ever had to offer. The great thing about such a mammoth pile of films is that icons of Hollywood will be popping in more than one entry on the list. Of course, some stars have a greater presence on this compendium than others, and while it might not shock many as to who has the most entries, it's surprising to see who the runner-ups are.
Coming in at the number one spot with the most films in IMDb's Top 250 is the man many believe to be perhaps the best actor ever -- Robert De Niro. Having appeared in over 100 films, nine of De Niro's projects rank among the website's most beloved 250: "The Godfather Part II," "Goodfellas,...

In 1982, 76-year-old Henry Fonda finally won a long-overdue Best Actor Oscar trophy, becoming the oldest Best Actor winner up to that time. His last acting nomination had been in 1941, and he held the record for the longest span between acting nominations until 2023. Judd Hirsch broke Fonda’s 41-year record 41 years after it was set, earning his second supporting nomination for “The Fabelmans” 42 years after his bid for “Ordinary People.” Now, one of his former co-stars could possibly break that record.
Hirsch earned two Best Comedy Actor Emmys for the sitcom “Taxi” (1978-1982). Carol Kane co-starred on the series from 1980-1983, also earning two Emmys, one for lead and one for supporting comedy actress. She is now receiving rave reviews for her role in “Between the Temples,” and might be on track to break the record Hirsch broke two years ago. Pulp Fiction Losing Best Picture to Forrest Gump in 1995.
Despite missing out on Oscar’s top prize, Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction did win best original screenplay and became a cultural mainstay.
“Pulp Fiction I felt was one of the biggest snubs, only because I was about to go to college at that time and 90 percent of the people in film school [were there] because of Pulp Fiction. How Samuel L. Jackson got his Pulp Fiction role because of a burger (Photo Credit – Facebook)
In 1994, competing with Paul Calderón, Jackson demanded a second audition. When Tarantino finally showed up, Jackson walked in with a burger and shake, ready to deliver. His no-nonsense approach and menacing presence sealed the deal, turning a simple lunch into a legendary audition moment that left Tarantino and producers in awe.
But fate had a quirky twist. Quentin Tarantino, known for being a brilliant but sometimes tardy director, was late for that second audition. Instead of twiddling his thumbs, Jackson saw an opportunity. He pulled out some lunch—a burger and a shake—and settled into the rehearsal space while waiting for Tarantino to show up.
Fast food in hand, Jackson exuded a mix of determination and charisma. Producer Richard Gladstein later recounted the scene, describing Jackson walking in with that burger and soda,...

Demi Moore is one of the most commendable actresses of all time, being at the delivering end of masterpieces like her most recent, The Substance, and her old pieces like Ghost (1990) and Indecent Proposal (1993). It's hard to imagine that Kurt Russell would get anywhere near the vicinity of stressed when it comes to being cast in a film. M. Night Shyamalan's "The Sixth Sense" is arguably one of the most unsettling horror movies of all time, following a young boy named Cole (Haley Joel Osment) who has the ability to see and speak with the dead. Child psychologist Dr. Malcolm Crowe, played by Bruce Willis, attempts to help him deal with what he believes is mental illness, though he eventually discovers that Cole's talents are all too real. With an incredible twist ending and one of the scariest scenes for kids ever, Shyamalan's 1999 thriller is an all-timer that launched him into mega-stardom right out of the gate. But while "The Sixth Sense" was a box office sensation and ended up becoming one of the biggest films of the '90s, Shyamalan himself (who was virtually unknown and only had a couple of features under his belt at the time) was a bit nervous during production, especially when...

With great vengeance and furious anger, Samuel L Jackson called out anyone who says that being nominated for an Oscar is an award in and of itself. “We’ve been in the business long enough to know that, you know, the folks who go, ‘Well, it’s just an honor to be nominated.’ No it ain’t – it’s an honor to win!” He added, “You know, you get nominated, folks go, ‘Yeah, yeah, I remember that. Most people forget, you know. Generally, it’s a contest you...

Samuel L. Jackson, the iconic actor known for his prolific career in Hollywood, has shared his candid perspective on awards season, calling out the oft-repeated notion that “it’s just an honor to be nominated.”
In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Jackson dismissed the sentiment, saying, “No it ain’t. It’s an honor to win.” The actor further elaborated on how easily Oscar-nominated performances—and even some winners—fade from public memory. “Generally it’s a contest you didn’t volunteer to be in,” Jackson quipped. “They nominate you, and people go, ‘What’s the name of that thing?’ After it’s over, people have a hard time remembering who even won.”
Jackson’s remarks add to his ongoing critique of the awards system, which he has addressed in past interviews. Despite a celebrated career spanning decades, Jackson has only been nominated for an Academy Award once...

Hollywood actor Samuel L. Jackson has disputed the entertainment industry’s traditional attitude toward award nominations, claiming that being acknowledged is less important than winning.
In an honest interview with the Associated Press, Jackson dismissed the typical phrase, “It’s an honor just to be nominated.” Instead, he emphasized that true recognition comes only through winning.
“We’ve been in the business long enough to understand when people say, ‘It’s just an honor to be nominated.'” No, it’s not. “It’s an honor to win,” Jackson stated, showing his forthright attitude toward business honors.
Regardless of his legendary status, Jackson’s Oscar history demonstrates his point. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his “Pulp Fiction” performance in 1994. He earned an honorary Academy Award in 2021, which he believed accurately represented his vast career.
The actor also mentioned how quickly the public forgets nominated performances. “You get nominated,...

Samuel L. Jackson feels it’s time to drop the facade when it comes to awards season.
“We’ve been in the business long enough to know that when folks go, ‘It’s just an honor to be nominated.’ No it ain’t,” Jackson said in a video from the Associated Press. “It’s an honor to win.”
Jackson went on to say that most people forget Oscar-nominated performances, and even some winners. “You get nominated and folks go, ‘Yeah I remember that.’ Or most people forget,” he said with a chuckle. “Generally it’s a contest you didn’t volunteer to be in. I didn’t go in there so I could flex. ‘Let me do my scene, so you can remember who I was.’ They nominate you and people go, ‘What is that movie you’re nominated for? Samuel L Jackson said in a video interview with AP Entertainment, while promoting his role in Netflix’s “The Piano Lesson,” that Oscar nominations aren’t too big of a deal for him. Shockingly, Jackson has only earned one Oscar nomination during his illustrious career — for “Pulp Fiction,” which he landed a best supporting actor nod for in 1995. Jackson was awarded an honorary Academy Award in 2021.
“We’ve been in the business long enough to know that when folks go, ‘It’s just an honor to be nominated.’ No it ain’t. Josh Brolin is detailing a very nepo Hollywood moment with iconic film stars.
Brolin, whose stepmother is Barbra Streisand after she wed his father and fellow actor James Brolin, recalled attending one of Streisand’s star-studded dinner parties. At one of these events, Marlon Brando was part of a Scientology exercise led by John Travolta, who offered to “heal” Brando‘s injured leg.
“It should have been a joke, but it turned out to be this amazing collective experience that I got to witness from afar,” Brolin told Variety. “At the time, I was like, ‘What the fuck is going on?’ Now I look back on it and go, ‘That was such a sweet moment.’”
He continued, “Scientology has nothing to do with it. I got to see somebody take care of somebody else in this thoughtful way. It’s funny how your perspective can change.”

Samuel L. Jackson is in negotiations to star in the next movie from director J.J. Abrams.
If the deal closes, he’ll join a cast that includes Glen Powell, Jenna Ortega and “Sex Education” star Emma Mackey. Abrams is writing and directing the untitled feature, of which details have been kept under wraps. Bad Robot, the company founded by Abrams, will serve as a producer.
Warner Bros. is backing the film, which is expected to commence production in the United Kingdom this spring. It’s unclear when the movie is slated to hit theaters.
This new project is Abrams’ first directorial effort since 2019’s “Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker,” which culminated the nine-part saga to the tune of $1 billion at the global box office. Jackson, who portrayed Jedi Master Mace Windu in the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy, briefly worked with Abrams for a voice cameo for the climax of “Rise of Skywalker.

Samuel L. Jackson has been a part of the Marvel universe since his shocking 2008 after-credits scene in the first Iron Man film. After signing his deal with the studio, Jackson expected to be in it for the long haul. Only to find out that it wasn’t all that long after all.

Jackson has been Nick Fury even before his first live-action appearance as the character. As he famously recalled, the Marvel’s Nick Fury was modeled after him in its Ultimate comics. This was a huge departure from Fury’s more traditional look in the comics, which Jackson quickly took notice of.

It's safe to say that Quentin Tarantino is a pretty great, well-respected filmmaker — but which movie is his absolute best according to its Rotten Tomatoes score? That would be his 1994 masterpiece "Pulp Fiction," which earned a rating of 92% on the review aggregator.
This isn't totally surprising; "Pulp Fiction" might be Tarantino's best-known film, and it won him his first Academy Award. A non-linear jumble of interconnecting stories mostly anchored by hired assassins Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson), "Pulp Fiction" is at once breathtakingly brilliant and disgustingly crude and gory, showing off Tarantino's unique ability to marry bloodshed and impeccable dialogue to create movies that are completely and totally unique. It's followed closely on Tarantino's Rotten Tomatoes charts by 1992's "Reservoir Dogs," Tarantino's first-ever feature film — which earned 90% — and the second movie to win him a screenplay Oscar, the deliciously satisfying revisionist history "Inglourious Basterds,...

Quentin Tarantino famously does not lack for chutzpah. He's not shy about singing his praises, and wrote a whole book loaded with contrarian opinions in 2022's "Cinema Speculation." He doesn't mince words and brooks no trash talk, as evidenced by the time he went upside a rival producer's head in a chichi Los Angeles power lunch spot.
Has Tarantino earned the right to be so unvarnished? It's a free country, so he can say whatever he wants, but he's got a little more backing up his opinion than that. His writing-directing debut, "Reservoir Dogs," is easily one of the most shockingly assured first films ever made, while his second feature, "Pulp Fiction," laughed in the face of the sophomore slump by becoming one of the most influential films of all time. "Pulp Fiction" was so outlandishly great that people underestimated the cool mastery of his third film, "Jackie Brown." Since then,...

The Ocean’s franchise featured some iconic actors in the high-stakes heist series but there were some who rejected the roles. Fans might not know, but Johnny Depp and Mark Wahlberg were approached for the first film which they unfortunately turned down.
However, the most shocking revelation came when George Clooney confessed that Bruce Willis was offered his role in Ocean’s Eleven opposite Julia Roberts. The Die Hard actor later featured in a cameo for the second film but Clooney claimed Willis always regretted turning down the opportunity to play the iconic Danny Ocean.

Many actors rejected roles from movies which later went on to develop into successful franchises, making them regret their hasty decisions. Something similar happened with Steven Soderbergh‘s Ocean’s Eleven which was rejected by a number of known Hollywood actors.

Today the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has sent a letter to its membership clarifying recent staffing changes across their collections and preservation teams at the Academy archive, museum, and library. It was reported at the end of October that 16 staff members had been laid off as part of a broader restructuring designed to bring all collecting, restoration, and preservation efforts together under the newly created Academy Collection and Preservation Department. Among those let go were Mike Pogorzelski — director of the Academy Film Archive for the last 24 years — and many veteran Archive staff members Sean Savage, Lynne Kirste, Joe Lindner, Melissa Levesque, Mike Brostoff, and Ed Carter. Longtime Academy librarian Anne Coco was also among those leaving the organization.

Here’s why Pulp Fiction almost had another ending (Photo Credit – Amazon Prime Video)
Pulp Fiction almost closed out with a different vibe. Quentin Tarantino had a wild twist that would’ve thrown off the whole ending we know and love. Samuel L. Jackson dropped the bomb recently, spilling that Tarantino’s original plan was to make the last scene much bloodier. And honestly? That change would’ve killed the magic.
Here’s the deal: in the Pulp Fiction finale, we see Jackson’s Jules and John Travolta’s Vincent Vega taking a breather in a diner, ready to hand over Marcellus’ precious briefcase. Enter Pumpkin and Honey Bunny—two robbers who picked the wrong place to hit. Fresh off his epiphany to ditch the criminal life, Jules lets them walk. He doesn’t throw punches, no bullets fly—just words. And it works. This scene is as intense as it gets,...

Comedian Tim Dillon, who has a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it role in “Joker: Folie à Deux” as an Arkham Asylum security guard, recently appeared on “The Joe Rogan Experience” and trashed Todd Phillips’ controversial “Joker” sequel as “the worst film that has ever been made.” The sequel earned mostly negative reviews and flopped at the box office with $58 million domestically and $204 million worldwide, a far cry from the 2019 original’s $1 billion gross.
“It’s the worst film ever made,” Dillon said. “I think what happened, after the first ‘Joker,’ there was a lot of talk like, ‘Oh, this was loved by incels. This was loved by the wrong kinds of people. This sent the wrong kind of message. Male rage! Nihilism!’ All these think pieces. And then I think, ‘What if we went the other way,’ and now they have Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga tap dancing to a point where it’s insane.

Quentin Tarantino’s last film was expected to be The Movie Critic, which was set to star Brad Pitt. However, the film seems to be in the process of being reworked, leaving fans wondering what the auteur’s alleged final offering is going to be. A group of activists dedicated to preserving film history has launched a petition asking the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to rehire 16 individuals the Academy laid off from its film archive and library staff last week.
On October 30, AMPAS let go of 16 employees — roughly 2 percent of AMPAS’ overall staff — including 14 from the Academy Film Archive and Margaret Herrick Library, and the other two from the Academy Museum collection staff.
In a petition launched on Tuesday, November 5 on Change.org, a cohort called Missing Movies protested the Academy’s decision and wrote an open letter to AMPAS CEO Bill Kramer and its Board of Governors, saying the layoffs represent a “deep disregard for the vital work of the Academy Film Archive.”
“These senior staff members have deep institutional knowledge of the Archive’s history and goals; they built the organizational structures, collections, and community outreach that allowed it to grow and thrive,...

Odin’s Eye Entertainment has come on board as international sales agent to “Stealing Pulp Fiction,” an audacious heist comedy from director Danny Turkiewicz. The company will launch it to overseas buyers at the American Film Market that starts in Las Vegas this week.
It had its world premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival on Oct. 19. And is set for a U.S. theatrical release in early 2025 through Giant Pictures.
The film follows a group of hopelessly ambitious misfits in their attempt to steal Quentin Tarantino’s personal 35mm print of his iconic film ‘Pulp Fiction.’ But what begins as a simple heist quickly spirals into a chaotic adventure filled with unexpected twists and comedic mishaps.
It stars Karan Soni (“Deadpool 2”), Jason Alexander, Cazzie David and Jon Rudnitsky (“Home Again”).
Adapted from Turkiewicz’s 2020 short film of the same name, “Stealing Pulp Fiction” was produced by Ben Shields Catlin,...

If anyone had to be labeled Hollywood’s golden boy in the late 70s, it was John Travolta. From early success on Welcome Back, Kotter to his star turns in Grease, Travolta’s charm, cool-collected persona, and chops in singing and dancing made him sparkle. As much as those roles played to his specific skill sets and advantages, they left him a bit typecast as the smooth-talking, dancing heartthrob – a niche he, or for that matter anyone, couldn’t keep playing forever.
It would be, perhaps, some soul-searching that would lead to a different alley in 1981. Blow Out, a gritty thriller by Brian De Palma had Travolta taking risks. Gone were the musical numbers and dance moves, replaced by an intense role as a sound engineer caught up in a murder. Travolta’s performance was strong – so strong that years later, Quentin Tarantino reached out to him with an offer...

It’s not your average Friday when a film like Joker: Folie à Deux releases. The film was one of the most anticipated sequels that the world had been waiting for. Unfortunately (or fortunately), it was a… weird experience.
