Loved the older episodes

I remember watching this show when I was a kid. Loved the original cast. The newer episodes are not as good.

I'm reviewing the old show.... Not the new!
WWF_Deadman_Undertaker22 February 2007
Here's the deal, it wouldn't be fair to review the new show because that would basically bring the score of my review down to a one or two. The old show was gold, I couldn't get my eyes off the TV and I just loved the old All That and whenever I would watch, I was guaranteed a laugh.

The new cast was a joke in itself, they took the show down and made it so bad it just wasn't fair to the viewers. All That was the premiere show in the 1990's and it was the foundation of Nickelodeon. If you were a kid and on All That then you were on top of the world. I don't know... I think they just pulled the new cast out of the trash because the old cast left. Why they couldn't manage to find kids as funny and creative as the old one is besides me... Nick survives on the leftovers of All That through Drake & Josh (Amanda Bynes -> Amanda Show -> Drake & Josh -> Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide)... The fact that it was canceled, it sucks, but it had to be done. If I could, then I would be more then glad to join the cast of All That considering they remake it. The leftovers of the cast go to Twix Commercials and Cameos... I really don't know what happened to Kenan and Kel and where they went. Amanda Bynes is breaking onto the Movie Screen. Danny Tamberelli, and everyone else, I really don't know where they are...

"How many socks?"
CaptHayfever22 December 2002
There were/are good All That cast members, and there were/are bad All That cast members.

The good ones were/are: Amanda Bynes, Josh Server, Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Danny Tamberelli, Lori Beth Denberg, Katrina Johnson, Alisa Reyes, Nick Cannon, Mark Saul, Leon Frieson, Gabriel Iglesias, Angelique Bates, Chelsea Brummet, Jack DeSena, Lisa Foiles, Kyle Sullivan, and Bryan Hearne.

The bad ones were/are: Tricia Dickson, Zack McLemore, Christy Knowings, Shane Lyons, Giovannie Samuels, and Jamie Spears.

Similarly, there have been good and bad episodes of All That, as is the nature of any show with this format. However, in the 2001-2002 season, the quality of the writing dropped through the floor. It's slowly working its way upward, but the burden of little Spears's lack of talent and the overdependence on adults in sketches will keep the show from reaching the greatness it once had. Such a shame.

There were some truly funny moments on this show, and there probably will be a few more before it tanks, but unfortunately, it's gonna tank pretty soon.

And remember, "I'm...Repairman-man-man-man!" -Kel as Repairmanman

"I got 4 billion dollars, Earboy!" Katrina as Ross Perot

"Superdude is lactose-intolerant!" -Katrina (& later Amanda), appearing from inside of something.

"Hey, Clavis, wake up, the show's over." -Kenan as Mavis

"Thaaaaaaaat's me!" -Amanda as Ashley

"I'm just a guy named Stuart. But if I was the real (insert job), I'd be the best (insert job) in ALL THE LAND!!!" -Mark as Stuart

"Chocolate!" -Kenan as Randy and Angelique as Mandy

"I'm Detective Dan!" -Josh as Detective Dan

"I'm a dude, he's a dude, she's a dude, 'cause we're all dudes, hey!" -Kel as Ed ...and so many more immortal quotes!

And finally, "The correct answer was nine. Nine socks." -Josh as the host of 'You Can't Win'

The old cast was perfect, the new cast is simply terrible
NYGuy32225 February 2005
Back when this show started in 1995, the cast, mainly the players like Keenan Thompson, Lori Beth Denburg, and Kel Mitchell, were all very talented and extremely funny, which made All That one of my favorite shows on Nick.

However, fast forward to 2005....and it's simply not the case. What was once a smart, funny show has now been replaced with a bunch of talentless teens running around on stage, pretty much saying "Look at us, we're funny! Laugh at us!" I watched an episode of All That on tape from 1995, then caught a new one from 2005. The differences are vast and very big. The 2005 All That episode was filled with unfunny sketches, and actors and actresses who were basically trying waaaaaaaaaay to hard to be funny and not succeeding in the least. (It's pretty much the same thing as the god awful "Amanda Show".) At least the 1995 version had funny sketches like Good Burger and such.

Overall, avoid the All That of now like the plague, but try and hunt down the older episodes if you can.

Forget the newer one, stick with the classic "All That"
robynh-49 December 2008
Back in the 90's, Nickelodeon was at its absolute prime, giving us genuinely funny shows such as "Rocko's Modern Life", "Kenan & Kel", "The Angry Beavers" and many more, including "All That". The 90's "All That" was great: the sketches were very funny and the original cast were talented (I especially liked Lori Beth Denberg); comedy was a natural thing for all of them and never tried too hard to be funny.

However, as the years went by and the original cast got older, one by one they left the show and "All That" was going going down hill at an astonishing speed. The newer "All That" nowadays is just horrible: the new cast are completely untalented and unfunny- they are just irritating and are trying way too hard to be funny but they are not- and the sketches are equally unfunny and just plain stupid. And for added insult, the newer cast have ruined classic, hilarious sketches from the original cast, such as the Good Burger sketch and Vital Information. I assume the audience for the newer cast are only laughing to be polite, but frankly I didn't even chuckle at the sketches. I also assume that Britney Spears' younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, is only on the show to boost the audience ratings.

So in conclusion, avoid the new "All That" at all costs as it is devoid of all comedy. Instead watch the old "All That" and have a good laugh to your heart's content.

In Living Color for Kids
Wonderful sketch comedy show. I remembered watching this show when it first came out and a lot of sketches are very memorable, such as Pierre Escargot, Dear Ashley, the Loud Librarian (my personal favorite). I've enjoyed this show since I was 9 years old and still love it today. Best way to describe it is that it's In Living Color for Kids.

Casting was excellent and put a lot of young stars on the map including Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell and Amanda Bynes and also brought us the wonderful Gabriel Iglesias when, as he puts it, a lot smaller. (a 2X, or a Dos Equis.).

If you want to watch the show, stick with the original cast, that's the best, and then when they had Amanda Bynes.

They Knew How to Make Us Laugh
bblack1-699-96857714 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I can very easily and proudly say that this was one of my favorite shows growing up. I think it actually had a lot to do with my crazy personality today! We all remember the cast, the characters, the sketches, the funny and memorable moments, and we all love them so much! I find it interesting, though, as I read some of the other comments, reviews, and blogs about this show on this website, a reoccurring line reads, "The old cast was great, but the new cast was just terrible!" And...I'd be lying if I said that weren't true.

Let's start with the premise of the show. If you're familiar with any vaudeville shows or with "Saturday Night Live," then throw kids in there and you'll have an idea what this show is about. It's a show where teenagers and young adults perform reoccurring comedic characters in familiar comedic sketches. They put on a show, after having fun in the Green Room, and at the end of the show a musical guest performs. Some of the best memorable characters include Superdude, Ed from "Good Burger" Ashley from "Ask Ashley," Detective Dan, Ms. Fingerly, Kevin the Stage Manager, and so many others! OK, let's address the elephant in the room: is the old cast really all that bad?...Yes they are. However, I don't think the show's decline is necessarily their fault. Like some of the other Nickelodeon classics, I saw this show all the time when I was a kid, there was a long gap when I didn't see it, and then it reentered my life during my teen/young adult years. When I watched the show again as a young man, I paid more attention to the writing. In all honesty, it wasn't really that great. It was pretty stupid. The sketches included awkward and obvious dialogue and incredibly dumb plots. I really don't think the producers cared that much. "They're only children," they probably said. "We don't have to be smart or anything." Sometimes the lines and the situations would be funny, but most of the time they were really lame. What made them work, however, was the cast! Somehow the cast was talented enough to take the lame words on paper and make them entertaining and funny. In the first several seasons, the show had the right people (and all of them were great) who could make you laugh at the dumbest things! "How is that possible? Why is this supposed to be funny?" Those questions can easily be answered when you're watching Josh Server and Kel Mitchell! I'll always believe that the best season of the show was the fourth season. The show started out pretty good and got better over time, but the fourth season, in my opinion, had the best cast. I wanted to watch all of them and see what type of character each performer would portray next.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about: let's take a favorite and familiar sketch, "Vital Information." Imagine your reaction if you heard any person say: "It's rude to talk with your mouth full. It's even ruder to blow your nose in your sister's pants." It wouldn't be that funny; it'd be rather stupid. However, Lori Beth Denberg knows just how to articulate that phrase to crack a smile on your face. After she left the show, Danny Tamberelli began hosting this sketch in the fifth season. It was...not funny. It wasn't ungodly unbearable, there were some funny moments. However, Danny just didn't have the same charm or sense of humor Lori Beth had to deliver the comedy for this sketch. Lori Beth was obviously the perfect choice to have host "Vital Information." But aside from the performers and the set design, did anything else about the sketch change? No, it still had the same writers. But now you're hearing just how stupid these words really are.

Now while the crew may not have changed (at least that much) from one season to the next, it certainly can change over the course of a long time span. Dan Schnider, who served as one of the show's producers and writers in the beginning, took over "All That" a couple of seasons later. And...it tanked. It was gosh awful. There weren't any talented comedic actors and actresses for the writers and producers to hide behind, everyone from the show's glory days were gone. Now the show's stupidity was out in the open with no place to hide. And, yes, I do put the blame of the show's demise on Dan Schnider. Schnider was responsible for other horrendous Nickelodeon shows, but we'll get to those later. He wasn't that bad in the mid to late '90s, but as time went on he got a lot worse. And nowhere does that show more obviously than the later seasons of "All That!" I don't think the problem is that the new actors and actresses couldn't act. I just don't think they were necessarily talented enough to make the stupid scripts funny. This just wasn't the right show for them to lend their talents.

OK, I did an analysis of the bad; what about the good? Well, like I said, the first group of actors and actresses were really charming and funny. Kenan Thompson, Amanda Bynes, Leon Frierson, Angelique Bates, Katrina Johnson, Alisa Reyes, Christy Knowings, Danny Tamberelli (when he's not giving vital information) - they were gems! They knew how to make us laugh! Their characters were incredibly entertaining and timeless. If you can watch this show and still laugh at these guys and their characters, clearly they did something right! And like I said before, the writing wasn't always bad; it had its moments. But the main reason we came back was to see these great actors and actresses performing these great characters! So long as I get to see them, I will always come back to this show; and that's ALL THAT! BOOYIKA!

Bring back the original cast
ryanf-7548415 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Why did All that have to come back? Some of the new skits was good like Marie Kiddo. Marie Kiddo was pretty funny. It kind of reminds me of Repair Man man man. Good Burger and the Loud Librarian is always good. Coach Kreagen still works. The rest of the skits is eh.

The best live-action series Nickelodeon had, until the new cast came
bearfaceproductions2 August 2009
OK, I remember this show being a golden part of my childhood, I laughed hard back then and watching the reruns I still do. Kel Mitchel was one of the greatest actors in the show. It may have had cheap effect but it was all for the good of comedy, the actors unique style of acting made this show funny and I am still smiling. It was all good until the new cast came there and many new sketches were being preformed. I laughed at some of them and some not, but it was not as good as the old cast. I prefer the old cast far more than the new one. But I had to understand that they grew up and had to move to new places like in movies. When the new cast arrived the show was kept in a fair length for comedy, but then it got canceled. Dan Schneider should not have done that. But this place was where all the new superstars started; the old cast started good and continued to be good in movies and in other series. I give a 10/10 for the old all that, but a 5/10 for the new one and a 0/10 for canceling it.

my freaking childhood!
snperera27 February 2017
I will always love this show! This is basically SNL for kids and it was amazing! The actors all had such great energy and personality and they were really having fun being on the show! It was so funny and I will never forget watching this show. The chemistry between all the actors were great as well and I wish kids shows were more like this one. It will always be apart of my childhood.

Used to be good...
Ginger8725 June 2005
"All That" used to be one of the funniest shows on Nick. I started watching it when it began back it 1995 when I was eight years old. I remember watching it whenever it aired with my sister and brother, who both also enjoyed it. Sometimes even my parents would watch it and get some good laughs.

"All That" can be seen as "Saturday Night Live" for younger viewers. It was full of hilarious sketches and musical performances starring a teenage cast.

When the show began in 1995 it a had a fresh good cast. Some members of the good cast included: Angelique Bates, Josh Server, Amanda Bynes, Danny Tamberelli, Kenan Thompson, and Kel Mitchell. However, in 2001 things began to change. The scripts weren't as funny as they used to be and new cast members came that began to destroy the show including Jamie Lynn Spears, who just can't act for her life.

Overall I give the old cast of "All That" from 1995-2000 10/10 stars and the new cast from 2001 to the present 4/10 stars.

Good show
I used to watch this show when I was growing up. When I think about it, I remember it pretty well. If you ask me, it was a good show. Two things I remember pretty well are the opening sequence and theme song. In addition to that, everyone was ideally cast. Also, the writing was very strong. The performances were top-grade, too. I hope some network brings it back so I can see every episode. Before I wrap this up, I'd like to say that I'll always remember this show in my memory forever, even though I don't think I've seen every episode. Now, in conclusion, if some network ever brings it back, I hope that you catch it one day before it goes off the air for good.

All Good Time
hellraiser710 January 2018
This show is my sixth favorate skit comidy show, this show was also the very last live action TV show I saw for Nickalodion, as I was getting older I did start to drift away from that channel which is a common truth for a lot of us, in a way this show was a fitting farewell to Nick for me since this show's cast consisted of adolecents. However this show is really special as it was another one of the show that really helped get me into the comidy genere but most importantly the skit subgenere.

Not much I can say it's a skit comidy like any other only here it's kids/adolecents that are the stars which to me is really cool because there really aren't that many that feature young cast members except "You Can't do that on Television" but that's a different story. There have been some others that have tried over the years but never held a candle either because of the ensamble or one curcial factor being funny. This show really worked because it had nailed both factors on the head.

The ensamble is excellent most of the cast members are talented and energetic, all of them look like their having fun and are into whatever skits and roles they play. Three of my favorates are Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, and Josh Server, they just play some of the most memorable characters and skits.

Most of the skits are really funny and hold up today, watching them as an adult I still laugh my ass off which is not something that happens often with most comidies geared toward a young audience. Despite aimed at the young audience each of them are not watered down, each are cleverly written in both visual and verbal humor, they aren't afraid to take risk let alone go an extra mile.

There are just tons of memorable skits I'll just say a few I really like.

The Haunted Hand: This one is more physical horror comidy but it's really funny. It's sort of like the possessed hand sequence in "Evil Dead 2" where Josh's character right hand for some unknown reason has been possessed and he is just having a heck of a time with it. I really loved his physical performance it really got me believing his hand has a mind of it's own as it is just doing a lot of naghty things.

Coach Kreton: This is another of my favorate characters from Kel Mitchell. The coach is pretty much true to his name as he is just a overly cranky/angry/nasty middle aged cretin that is probably one of the worst coaches/teachers in the world as he is just giving everyone a hard time and not really doing his job except complain non stop. He's also a bit like Firebill Marchall as he is always getting physically hurt in each skit. My favorate with him are the Hoodoo doll sketch which he is just at is physical comedic best as we see his body bending to the will of the doll. Or even the meeting where he's fighting for the posstion of sub principal against any of the other faculty whom may be even worse that him.

Earboy: I really like those scetches as it's about a good natured guy with Dumbo Ears along with certain others non norms for support like Pizza Face whom littleraly has a pizza slice for a face. Those scetches are funny because there is some heart to it seeing how a person despite certain limitations or features that are deemed not normal, never let it hold them back they just find a way to live life the best they can. One of the highlights of the scetch is seeing Earboy's back and forth with Ross Perot whom is kinda his mentor or even father figure for him. The actress really does a great impersonation of him, we see Ross is sort of an essetric billionare but doesn't let it get to his head as we see him actually care as she is supportive in making Earboy's life a little easier and livable; it's really funny just hearing that infectious laugh she delivers in a few of the scetches which just cracks me up.

Coldfinger: It's a James Bond parody but it's one of the better ones in my book and I'm a fan of the movie series. It's just funny seeing how much of a hard time the main villain Coldfinger (Kenan Thompson) whom is a parody on not just Goldfinger but Blowfeld is unintentionally giving James (Josh Server) grief.

The Wizard of Moz: Another parody on "Wizard of Oz" and another of the best ones and the film is one of my favorate fantasy films which makes it all the more cool. It's just funny how radically different and the same it is from the source materal, even the costumes on the characters are great, this skit could of easily of been a movie of it's own.

Good Burger: This is of course the best in my book and sort of predates the movie "Poltrygeist" as it's a parody on the fast food business. I really love Kel's character whom talks like "Bill and Ted", he's a good happy dim bulb whom loves his job despite a crappy establishment. He is clearly incompatant as he unintentionally messes up the orders but he is a decent man that is always to work on time, and despite mess ups does the best he can to correct his mistakes and do the best job possible to make each of the customers happy even though it turns out the total opposite.

So if your a fan of the sketch comidy genere and are looking for some vintage, this show is one of the ones to check out.

"All that" is an all good time.

Funny for smaller kids, but not for teens.
Spaggett11 July 2008
I have been watching this show since I can remember. I grew up watching this show and other Nickelodeon classics. It was only until recently The N started to re-run All That. I thought that was great because the last time I watched it I was 10 years old (4 years ago). When I was younger I thought this show was very funny. I loved almost all the characters (except the new ones, i.e Jamie Lynn Spears). It was until I was 10 years old I stopped watching it because of new characters, and I didn't like to adapt to new things. I watched the first few minutes of an episode, and I was shocked. I just couldn't laugh! It was not funny at all! I watched Pete and Pete, Ren and Stimpy, and Rocko's Modern Life and I thought those shows were great! But I was surprised at how lame and washed out the skits were. I couldn't sit through the whole show . I felt bad that I couldn't laugh because I wanted to, but my humor has changed dramatically. My humor hasn't changed towards any other Nickelodeon show. Even the movie Good Burger was funny and I believe it was written by the same person. So if you are older than 10 years old than don't bother to watch.

older ones were so much funnier
basta_dustfinger3 August 2004
The older episodes were much better. Nowadays it SUCKS BIG TIME. I miss the old cast. The only funny thing nowadays is "Know Your Stars", which is getting old already. I remember seeing a really funny episode when a guy played by Kenan Thompson askes for a large fry, and accually gets a really big fry. Good Burger was good too! This newer stuff is trash. On air dares? Don't make me barf! BRING BACK THE OLD ALL THAT!

I adore Lori Beth, she should come back with her advice thing. Amanda Bynes was great but when she was younger she was kind of annoying. I like Lori Beth in the library when she says to be quiet and then is all noisy. Keep it up Lori!

Great Acting, Bad Writing
BeforeDarknessFalls4 December 2004
I know everyone says that the original cast members were better, but i beg to differ. The new cast members are very talented. It's the shows writing that needs work. I used to hate All That. I thought it was a bunch of stupid stuff that only dumb kids would watch. But my little sister used to watch it all the time, so sometimes, i would end up watching it with her. After a few episodes, i really started to get into it and I've been watching the show ever since.

The show seems to get better and better with it's plot lines and acting, but needs serious work on it's scripting. Some of the lines are just not funny anymore. With a better, funnier script this show would even be better than the original show with the original cast.

Its good but other episodes were better...
This is known as the new All That. It is very funny, such as, Kianna Underwood as Kareena Jones, Denzel Whitaker as Jeff Bester, Jack DeSena as Randy Quench, Volunteer Fireman, Christina Kirkman as Poncy, Chelsea Brummet as Abby Rhoades, Lisa Foiles as Heather Darling, Ryan Coleman as Jim Tasty, and Kyle Sullivan as Claude Grimes. It may not be as good as the older episodes but I think it is still good. I don't care what other people think but I still love all that. I have to say that my favorite new skit is Kianna Underwood as Kareena Jones, the crazy bus driver!!!! I am looking forward to some new episodes of the new all that because it is still a good show!

Nothing but trash
crash213 October 2016
I saw this show when it first came out, it was awful then and obviously had enough power in the less-intelligent kids to bring down the whole Saturday Night Nick programming. I have to say, the show seemed more like Nickelodeon's version of people acting as if they were characters out of a trashy show made by MTV or Fox.

The show itself, at least when I saw it, was nothing but more of a gang-based group teaching trashy concepts alongside bad music. One good example in all of this was their Good Burger act, something that even got it's own movie later on. I almost wonder if the people making all of this had helped with Nick's later downfalls in the 90's, effects that have lasted much even to this day.

I completely agree, when "all that" first aired with it's original cast back when Kenan and Kel were on and that one girl who went on to do the Steve Harvey show, it was so funny! Remember the cooking show skit where everything is made out of chocolate! ha. Now it is the most ridiculous show to watch, it's very short, and all of the cast members aren't funny, they just act all cute and sit there all pretty and it's just stupid. It's a waste of air-time if you ask me. At least the old cast was funnier and more unique! I think Nickelodeon has run out of good ideas... I really wish that they would play some of there old shows like all that, and I used to love are you afraid of the dark!

"Not" All That
Bita-Negor23 June 2020
Cant believe this show made it into production in the 1990s. For over 10 years it wasnt good, the best part of it was when Zoey 101 got on the show Jamie Spears. She made the show 900 billion trillion times better and once she left so did I.

This show does not contain ANY of the CHARM AND CHARACTERS OF ZOEY 101. That show is the top of the totem pole and no show on TV can match it.
