Boobs Are EVERYTHING, Remember?
'To The Limit' is one of two action flicks Anna Nicole Smith did for PM Entertainment Group in the 90's, but what you gotta know is unlike 'Skyscraper' it's not an awful 'Die Hard' clone. Nor does she get the most screentime despite top billing. Whenever or not this is false advertising or a blessing is up to you. However the flick is pretty much what you expect. Anna gets naked a bunch of times in a plot involving spies, low level action, but wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting.
Mob boss Frank DaVinci (Travolta) is targeted for death by a hit squad on his wedding day, but survives this and a further attempt in hospital. At the same time CIA agents Colette (ANS) & her lover China (Michael Nouri) are supposed to be wiped out by a car bomb that only kills the latter. Rogue CIA chief Jameson (Jack Bannon) wants both of them dead and the retrieval of a computer disc that could see him taken down for good.
The story is a little disjointed and obviously carried out cheaply though I can't pretend to be upset about it's quality or lack thereof. Anna was no actress but comes off decent (better than 'Skyscraper') and looks great here. Nouri has a few scenes, b-movie fans will recognize Branscombe Richmond and David Proval (UHF, Sopranos) puts in a role as a mobster. What you might not know (I didn't until afterwards) is this was a sequel to a 1993 b-movie 'Da Vinci's War' involving a lot of the same cast.
The first fifteen minutes of 'To The Limit' supply three gratuitous bits of female nudity (two by ANS) and okay gunplay. More nudity follows including a shower for Smith and a few more shootouts, vehicles blown up. I didn't get why she was moaning in the bathtub solo, but let it slide. I questioned why Nouri was here, but knew when he got to press his body up against the naked star. I had to pause the movie when she has sex with Travolta because I was laughing so hard. Never seen a CD-ROM put to such killer use too.
