Adam Sandler Gets Oscar Snub Redemption With Raucous Indie Spirits Speech
Fans of Josh and Benny Safdie’s nail-biter “Uncut Gems” have been eager to see Adam Sandler lauded for his performance as scumbag bling jeweler Howard Ratner since one of the earliest screenings of the film at the Toronto International Film Festival, where an audience member yelled “An Oscar for Sandman!,” creating a refrain repeated throughout awards season. Despite all the acclaim for his performance, Sandler didn’t land an Academy Award nod. But on Saturday he received a redemption of sorts when he won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead.

In his acceptance speech, Sandler went into character, as he previously did when introducing the Safdies at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, offering a self-aware reflection on what it meant for him to win.

“Hello my name is Adam Sandler,” he began in the goofy voice he would use for duration of the speech. “Thank you.

Adam Sandler Extends Netflix Deal for 4 More Movies
Adam Sandler and Netflix have extended their relationship to include four more new movies. After the success of his performance in Uncut Gems, Sandler was a serious contender for his first Academy Award nomination. Critical and viewer praise fueled whispers of a possible Best Actor nomination and when asked about all of the hype, the actor joked that if the Academy didn't recognize him, he'd go out and make a bad movie on purpose. Long story short, he did not get the nomination. Will he exact his revenge against the Academy with Netflix?

There have not been any announcements as to what these four projects for Netflix will be, other than the fact that they are Adam Sandler movies. The two started their relationship back in 2014, which was then extended to 2017. Movies like The Ridiculous 6, The Do-Over, Sandy Wexler, The Week Of, Murder Mystery, and 100% Fresh were all done

Netflix has extended its deal with Adam Sandler and his Happy Madison Productions for four more films.

The streamer announced the deal Friday, noting that Sandler’s “Murder Mystery” was the most popular title on Netflix in the U.S. last year. “Murder Mystery,” which co-starred Jennifer Aniston, was Sandler’s sixth Netflix movie, including “The Ridiculous 6,” “The Do-Over,” “Sandy Wexler,” “The Week Of,” and the upcoming “Hubie Halloween.”

Drew Barrymore loves her longtime costar Adam Sandler just as much as fans do.

Uncut Gems Directors Discuss Turning Adam Sandler Into a Shady NYC Jeweler [Exclusive]
The Safdie brothers, directors Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie, have had quite the rise in Hollywood over the past couple of years. 2017's Good Time, which went on to earn rave reviews and earned Robert Pattinson high-praise for his performance, got the duo a great deal of attention and ensured that more people would be keeping an eye out for what comes next. The Safdie's next effort Uncut Gems is here and similarly will go down as a critically-heralded addition to the year that has been 2019.

This time around, they paired with Adam Sandler and put the Happy Gilmore actor in a unique situation. Instead of sticking him in a slapstick comedy, they turned him into Howard Ratner, a New York City jeweler who is totally unhinged, unpredictable and out of his mind. It will easily go down as one of the best performances of Sandler's career and could even earn him an Oscar nomination.

Five Actors Who Should Play Rory McIlroy in a Movie

There’s something to be said for golfing movies, I don’t know just what that is but there’s definitely something. Some folks happen to like Happy Gilmore since it didn’t destroy golf but it certainly gave people a new take on it, while others prefer movies like Tin Cup and The Legend of Bagger Vance. Caddyshack seems like a nice compromise since it does feature golf and hilarity, but getting more on subject is the idea of who would play greats like Rory McIlroy if such a movie ever did get made again. His record kind of speaks for itself since

Listen: Paul Thomas Anderson and the Safdies Talk Uncut Gems and the Brilliance of Adam Sandler in One-Hour Conversation

After setting A24 history with a record opening weekend, Josh and Benny Safdie’s thrilling Uncut Gems will finally open in wide release this Christmas, which is probably better than any present one will receive this holiday. Ahead of the wide release, we’ve got another treat: a one-hour conversation with the directors and another director that gave Adam Sandler one of his greatest performances: Paul Thomas Anderson.

The wide-ranging conversation, of course, kicks off discussing the brilliance of the actor, including how PTA adores Big Daddy and Happy Gilmore, but didn’t love The Waterboy and he, along with the Safdies, has never seen Going Overboard. PTA also talks stopping by the Little Nicky set with Quentin Tarantino and what he learned on the set of Eyes Wide Shut.

Other topics in the lively talk include working with cinematographer Darius Khondji, Boogie Nights, how Sandler had to be in character during the entire shoot,

Uncut Gems Review: Adam Sandler Goes Off-The-Rails in Darkly Comedic Crime Flick

Uncut Gems Review: Adam Sandler Goes Off-The-Rails in Darkly Comedic Crime Flick
We've known for some time now that Adam Sandler is capable of delivering an exceptional performance. Movies such as Punch Drunk Love and Funny People have provided the proof. But, for whatever reason, we rarely get the chance to see Sandler at his best. Instead, he's often featured in lowbrow comedies, these days ones that debut directly on Netflix. However, thanks to directors Benny Safide and Josh Safdie, aka the Safdie brothers, we've been treated to peak-Sandler in Uncut Gems, which is a truly off-the-rails, totally unique and darkly comedic thriller.

Uncut Gems centers on Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), a high-strung and magnetic New York City jeweler who is always on the hunt for his next big score. In this case, Howard may well have found his golden ticket in the form of a rare gem that could be worth hundreds of thousands. However, Howard's gambling problem sees him make

The Essentials: Adam Sandler’s Best Performances

If you grew up watching movies in the mid-to-late-’90s, you inevitably had a favorite Adam Sandler movie. Few actors have become comedic superstars the way Sandler did in his heyday. While the broad physical comedy of Jim Carrey began to wane into the new millennium, Sandler’s star status has continued to grow – he’s simultaneously one of the world’s most popular and contentious performers. From the immature, anger-prone protagonists of his early efforts like “Billy Madison” and “Happy Gilmore” to the genial-schlub leading men of “50 First Dates” and “Grown Ups,” Sandler’s persona has endured through every transition in the comedy world of the last 25 years.

‘Uncut Gems’: Adam Sandler’s Wild Ride Should Net the Actor an Oscar

‘Uncut Gems’: Adam Sandler’s Wild Ride Should Net the Actor an Oscar
Adam Sandler is Hollywood’s biggest contradiction. Though his comedies range from pretty good (Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore) to god-awful (Grown Ups, Jack and Jill), they have amassed more than $3 billion at the box office. The SNL-alum-turned-production-tycoon got rich by repeating himself. See (or don’t) his Netflix hit Murder Mystery — it’s comic laziness incarnate.

And then there’s the other Adam Sandler, the actor who makes fools of his detractors. In the annals of the Golden Raspberrys — think the Oscars but for gross cinematic incompetence — only Sly Stallone

Adam Sandler says he will release an awful movie if he doesn't win the Oscar

  • JoBlo
Irony thy name is Adam Sandler. I grew up on Adam Sandler. Whether it was his Canteen Boy skit from SNL, his They're All Gonna Laugh At You! comedy album, or classics like Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, I consumed every crumb of the man's catalog. While the comedian from NYC started out hot with hits like The Waterboy, Big Daddy, and Mr. Deeds, eventually he began to lose steam. As time…

As revealed by Funko on Instagram, Bobby is now getting immortalized in Funko Pop form, which will include two variants for fans of the movie to collect.

One of the Funko Pop figures for The Waterboy is of Bobby as he appears at the start of the movie when he is working as a waterboy for a college football team. Why Adam Sandler Should Be a Serious Best Actor Contender for ‘Uncut Gems’ (Column)

Why Adam Sandler Should Be a Serious Best Actor Contender for ‘Uncut Gems’ (Column)
Adam Sandler is on a roll — that could send him all the way to the Oscars.

Not only is he up for a Gotham Award for his work in “Uncut Gems,” but his performance also nabbed him an Indie Spirit Award nomination just last week.

If all is right in the world, Sandler, 53, will be recognized by the Academy with a nomination.

Uncut Gems,” Josh and Benny Safdie’s follow-up to their 2017 crime drama “Good Time,” is a deeply dark dramedy starring Sandler as Howard Ratner, a loudmouthed jewelry dealer in New York’s Diamond District whose gambling addiction is destroying his professional and personal life. The movie follows him over the course of just a few days racing around New York City and out on Long Island as he tries to pull off another one of his con jobs to pay off a debt and get a couple of violent goons off his back.

How Awesome is Carl Weathers in The Mandalorian?

Just when you think you’ve seen Carl Weathers for the last time we get reminded that he’s not bound to just up and disappear thankfully. For The Mandalorian he was probably one of the best guys to call since his character, Greef Carga, isn’t really much of a mentor as Weathers has been in movies like Rocky III and Happy Gilmore, but he is the type of person that others look to when they’re in need since he’s the head of the local bounty hunters guild in The Mandalorian. He knows very well that the Mandalorian is the best in
