We recently got confirmation that a Scary Movie reboot (though it might end up being more of a "requel") is moving forward with the original creative team of Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans back on board.

Fans were hopeful that stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall - who played Cindy Campbell and her best pal Brenda Meeks in the first four movies - would reprise their roles, and both actresses have now discussed their potential returns.

It sounds like Faris and Hall would be interested in returning to the horror parody franchise if given the opportunity.

"I would love to work with Regina again," Faris said when asked if she was involved with the new movie by People. "I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!"

The news comes with a few other casting additions that include Lola Tung, Austin Nicholas, and Gabbriette. The four newcomers will join a cast that includes Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, and Sarah Pidgeon. In a recent interview with TV Insider, Hall, who starred as Brenda Meeks in the franchise, discusses her future in the upcoming Scary Movie reboot. The Wayans Brothers are reuniting for a new sequel to the slasher parody film, and Hall, who played Brenda Meeks in the first four films, opened up about returning to the franchise.

“I’m just very excited to know that the Wayans, who actually started the project out of their idea, are back on board and at the helm again. I’m excited for them,” Hall told TV Insider.

She continued, “We’ll see if Brenda is in this new world. I’m thrilled at the possibility that the band could get back together again. That would be fun.”

With the horror season drawing to a close, you might feel the urge to watch a new scary movie. If you’re like us, you’ll find that Scream aesthetic is your go-to vibe. However, you may have already watched it once or twice (or seven) times already. Luckily, we have assembled a list of very good flicks that found their way into theaters as rip-offs to Scream. Following April's CinemaCon announcement that a reboot of the horror parody series was in development, Deadline is reporting that a sixth movie is moving forward with the original creative team of Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans back on board.

Keenen Ivory wrote and directed the first two films, while Marlon and Shawn contributed to the scripts and also starred. It's unknown if the brothers will assume the same roles this time.

Fans are hopeful that Anna Faris and Regina Hall will return to lead this new movie, but there's no word on casting just yet.

Rick Alvarez has also been enlisted as a writer and producer along with Fast & Furious and Sonic the Hedgehog's Neal H. Moritz.

When people think of short films, they may go straight to the famous Pixar shorts that have opened their features since Toy Story, or they may think of the wealth of amateur horror short films that can easily be found on YouTube, or they may be only thinking of the incredibly well-executed movies that appear in the Oscar races. And there shouldn't be. Short movies are the perfect testing ground for experimental filmmaking and a way for new filmmakers without access to funds, time, or equipment to show their chops in the medium. Daily Dead recently had the pleasure of talking with co-stars Rob Morgan (who plays the enigmatic McNab) and Chaske Spencer (who plays the ever-resourceful Ruben Shanley) about what attracted them to playing their intriguing characters on the series, working with showrunner Ian McCulloch, and seeing the world premiere of Teacup at Fantastic Fest!

The cast for Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel continues to grow, with Deadline reporting that Billy Campbell (“Mr. and Mrs. Smith”) is the latest to sign on.
