There would be no The Vampire Diaries without its villains. The teen fantasy show did not center on just love stories, as it had some of the most complex and dynamic plotlines involving supernatural creatures. In fact, Tvd's conflicts and battles were undoubtedly more compelling than its romances were.
For the Mystic Falls gang to protect their precious town and themselves, there had to be bad guys who threatened their safety. While larger-than-life villains like Klaus Mikaelson, or Kai Parker stole the show with their evil yet charming ways, there were many others who went unnoticed. As a result, while some villains were integral in keeping up the conflict in The Vampire Diaries, they never got the spotlight that they so deserved.

An awkward cross between insipid romantic comedy and schlocky sleepover horror fails on both counts
After Scream revitalised both the slasher and the horror genre at large back in 1996, the inevitable flood of junkier imitators arrived, less interested in reinventing the wheel and more in keeping the engine running. Quick to write and cheap to make, films like I Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legend, Cherry Falls and Valentine trotted out slightly different variations on the same formula until the films became dumber than the ones Scream had been targeting in the first place.
It tracks then that after a Ghostface reboot, with 2022’s surprisingly successful fifth instalment, the same would happen once again. Heart Eyes, a film that boasts the same production company and one of its stars, is exactly what an exec would give an easy greenlight to, an easily sellable “if you liked” knock-off. But...

It sounds like Kevin Williamson is really bringing the heat as the director of Scream 7. According to franchise star, Mason Gooding, who recently chatted with Variety at the Los Angeles premiere of Heart Eyes earlier this week, audiences can expect the killer(s) known as Ghostface to be “the most brutal he’s been” in the upcoming movie. Brutality and gore are totally up the writer-turned-director’s alley, as he’s not only the Screamfranchise’s proud papa, having also penned the first, second and fourth installments, but he’s additionally the scribe behind other genre classics like I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Faculty. Oh yeah, and he also based the tale of Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) tussle with Ghostface on a horrific real-life serial killer.

Ethan Embry may only be 46 years old, but he has 35 years of acting credits to his name, having worked on more than 100 different projects. And now he’s set to cross paths with Ghostface, as Deadline reports that he has joined the cast of Scream 7!
Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures once intended to make a Scream 7 that would have starred Scream (2022) and Scream VI leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, with Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon at the helm. But then Ortega allegedly asked for a substantial pay raise – and as we saw when Neve Campbell dropped out of Scream VI due to a pay dispute, these pay issues don’t tend to work out. Then Barrera was fired from the project after comments she made about the Israel-Hamas war didn’t go over well with executives at Spyglass. Landon dropped out the of the project soon after.

‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Sequel Series With Sarah Michelle Gellar Returning Nears Hulu Pilot Order

In every generation, there is a chosen one — again.
Variety has learned from sources that a sequel series to the beloved show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is nearing a pilot order at Hulu.
Sources say that Sarah Michelle Gellar is in final talks to once again play the iconic title character in the untitled project, although it would focus on a new Slayer and Gellar would appear in a recurring role rather than leading the series.
Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman are attached to write, showrun, and executive produce. Chloé Zhao is attached to direct and executive produce under her Book of Shadows production banner. Gellar would also executive produce along with Gail Berman. Fran Kuzui and Kaz Kuzui will executive produce via Suite B, while Dolly Parton will executive produce via Sandollar. 20th Television and Searchlight Television will produce. Berman, the Kuzuis, and Parton were all executive producers on the original “Buffy” series.

Death Is Back And The Kills Are As Gnarly As Ever In First Trailer For Final Destination: Bloodlines

Horror reboots are all the rage these days. Scream, Scary Movie, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Saw — you name it, there's a decent chance someone's out there with red string and pins figuring out a fiendish way to bring it back. With that being said, the latest addition to the growing reboot canon is New Line Cinema's Final Destination: Bloodlines, the first new entry in what remains the only major franchise that can proudly boast Death itself as its antagonist since Final Destination 5 some 14 years ago. And if the gnarly first trailer for Freaks directors Adam B. Stein & Zach Lipovsky's upcoming movie is anything to go by, then we may be in for the Grim Reaper's gnarliest killing spree yet. If you have any piercings, proceed with caution:
Over the years, the Final Destination franchise has given us a slew of memorable fatalities. Death...

We recently got confirmation that a Scary Movie reboot (though it might end up being more of a "requel") is moving forward with the original creative team of Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans back on board.
Fans were hopeful that stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall - who played Cindy Campbell and her best pal Brenda Meeks in the first four movies - would reprise their roles, and both actresses have now discussed their potential returns.
It sounds like Faris and Hall would be interested in returning to the horror parody franchise if given the opportunity.
"I would love to work with Regina again," Faris said when asked if she was involved with the new movie by People. "I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!"

Scary Movie franchise star Regina Hall addresses the chances of returning for a potential sixth movie. The franchise began in 2000 with Scary Movie, a comedy-slasher parody film that spoofs prominent horror movies of previous decades, including Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Friday the 13th. The movie was a box office success, grossing more than $278 million globally, and spawned four sequels. Recently, it was confirmed that Scary Movie 6 was in development.
In a recent interview with TV Insider, Hall, who starred as Brenda Meeks in the franchise, discusses her future in the upcoming Scary Movie reboot. She first spoke about her excitement that the Wayans brothers (who created the franchise) were back at the helm and her love of co-star Anna Faris. However, the actor remained tight-lipped about whether she would make a return, seemingly hinting that she would be interested if there was scope for the character to return.

Jennifer Love Hewitt was killed off in an episode of Boy Meets World because of her real-life relationship with series star Will Friedle (Eric Matthews). Hewitt appeared in the 1998 episode "And Then There Was Shawn," where the characters were locked in John Adams High School, while a killer was hunting them. Just like almost everyone else in the episode, the killer murders Hewitt's character (although it was later revealed that the entire episode was a dream).
On the Pod Meets World podcast, Friedle discusses the episode with fellow Boy Meets World stars Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence). Friedle reveals how shortly after his relationship with Hewitt ended, series creator Michael Jacobs told him that the reason he had her appear in the episode was so that he could have her killed off in front of Friedle.

The Scary Movie franchise has officially been resurrected... for better or worse!
Following April's CinemaCon announcement that a reboot of the horror parody series was in development, Deadline is reporting that a sixth movie is moving forward with the original creative team of Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans back on board.
Keenen Ivory wrote and directed the first two films, while Marlon and Shawn contributed to the scripts and also starred. It's unknown if the brothers will assume the same roles this time.
Fans are hopeful that Anna Faris and Regina Hall will return to lead this new movie, but there's no word on casting just yet.
Rick Alvarez has also been enlisted as a writer and producer along with Fast & Furious and Sonic the Hedgehog's Neal H. Moritz.

The 2017 short film Backstroke may have a simple plot, but its cinematography, tension, and atmosphere make for an unsettling watch that anyone interested can easily see for themselves. When people think of short films, they may go straight to the famous Pixar shorts that have opened their features since Toy Story, or they may think of the wealth of amateur horror short films that can easily be found on YouTube, or they may be only thinking of the incredibly well-executed movies that appear in the Oscar races. There's no shortage of short films to watch.
And there shouldn't be. Short movies are the perfect testing ground for experimental filmmaking and a way for new filmmakers without access to funds, time, or equipment to show their chops in the medium. Others just prefer the format. Take Robbie Barclay's 2017 short film Backstroke, which stars Josefine Christoffersen as Amber and Shemar Jonas as Jake.

So Scream 7 has been re-developed, Campbell has signed on to return as franchise heroine Sidney Prescott, back in the lead role – and her Scream (1996) co-star Matthew Lillard has confirmed that if he were asked to reprise the role of killer Stu Macher,...

Supernatural creatures and paranormal activities were the main attraction of The Vampire Diaries, but there was space held for humans too. In the midst of vampires giving in to their bloodlust and werewolves triggering their curses, there was an increased importance given to keeping one's humanity. Almost everyone in Mystic Falls was supernatural in some way, even Elena, but Matt was the only character who stayed human.
Despite being one of the weakest characters in The Vampire Diaries, Matt Donovan survived everything. He managed to live longer than the vampires and witches, sometimes supporting the supernatural and sometimes opposing it. Matt may have been ordinary, but he did extraordinary things during his long run in The Vampire Diaries.

Supernatural is CW's revolutionary title in the horror drama genre. The series has entertained fans for almost 15 years as an all-in-one package. From a satirical take on popular trends to relatable characters, Supernatural is a hotpot of juicy storylines and complicated relationship dynamics. Although the show did hundreds of things right, it unfortunately fumbled a key trend. The "resurrection" trope has been a saving grace for popular television series that faced audience backlash for suddenly killing off major characters.
However, Supernatural not only consistently lived up to the trend but overused it to a point where it diminished the story's emotional impact. Bringing back characters from the dead, not once but multiple times, ruined the effect of the trauma on the plotline, especially on the Winchester brothers.
