Disney parks have been going through a number of changes the past few years. In order to make way for the new, many beloved staples of Disneyland and Disney World have ended. People were forced to say goodbye to Disney Dollars, along with rides like the Tower of Terror. Now, in what might be the wildest change we've seen in a while, one park is getting rid of their Sleeping Beauty Castle. You'll recognize it as the castle you see as you walk inside the park. The iconic landmark will be no more at Hong Kong Disneyland so that they may make way for an updated park experience. The company made the announcement via press release, and we're certain the tears of Disney fans could be felt around the world. Okay, maybe it's not...

Season three of You're the Worst has already been quite the roller coaster, but tonight's hour-long finale was like the Tower of Terror. In the aftermath of S--tstain's wedding last week, all three of the show's main couples were in serious distress. Edgar had abandoned Dorothy to go write sketches, Lindsay had told Paul she had an abortion, and Jimmy and Gretchen unleashed some painful truths about what they were thinking about their relationship. Tonight, they all had it out, and it's possible that none of the couples survived, despite a marriage proposal that would have had any murder-loving Angeleno's heart aflutter. Lindsay and Paul are definitely...

Slowly but surely, Disney's acquisition of Marvel is spreading into business areas outside of merchandising and movies. Theme parks are a big one right now with the Guardians of the Galaxy taking over Disneyland's Tower of Terror, and now Iron Man has his own ride in Hong Kong Disneyland. We wrote about this when it was first announced a few years ago, but now there's a video (bonus: Stan Lee is in it) that takes us through what the ride is like.
ScreenCrush points out that 45 visitors at a time will load up onto a cutting edge piece of Stark Technology called an "Iron Wing," which essentially serves as an oversized version of one of Iron Man's suits, and fly through the skies of Hong Kong when suddenly the city comes under attack from Hydra agents. Check out the video below, and let us know if you're thinking about...

Disney has been making a lot of sad changes to their theme parks lately, but enough of that depressing stuff. Sure they may have messed with the Tower of Terror and most recently took away the iconic Main Street Electrical Parade, but they totally make up for it with this news. First things first, everybody who has ever seen even one Disney movie has thought about having a dream wedding at a Disney theme park. Don't lie; it's just part of our DNA as Disney-loving humans. Thankfully, you can make that dream a reality and have your wedding at the most magical place on earth. Not only can you get married at cool places like the Italy Plaza at Epcot or the Walt Disney World Railroad Train station, according to...

Disney theme parks have really been changing things up in the past few years. First, they took away Disney Dollars; then it was the Tower of Terror, and now it's one of the most iconic parades in the park. Sad to say, they're doing away with the historic Main Street Electrical Parade. Disney fans know this is a big deal, simply because of how long it's been around. It first started in the '70s, with light-up floats including Alice In Wonderland, Dumbo's Circus, "It's a Small World," and Cinderella's Ball, according to Wdw News Today. If you've seen it in person or even just in pictures, you know it's the epic parade with floats covered in Christmas lights. Back before it began,...

Disneyland has released its first look at the “Guardians of the Galaxy” ride that will replace the popular Tower of Terror attraction in the California Adventure park. “The setting is a giant warehouse belonging to the Collector, this huge power plant kind of place … packed with all of his rare collections from around the world,” Joe Rohde, portfolio creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, says in the video. In the video, the engineering teams takes viewers through the design of the attraction that is supposed to be the Collector’s Fortress, set to debut next summer. Full disclosure: We're still pretty bummed out to have to say goodbye to Disneyland's Tower of Terror ride, but... We're actually pretty excited for its replacement attraction, named Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: Breakout! Disney unveiled a sneak peek at its upcoming attraction, set to open summer 2017, on its Disney Parks blog Monday. They also shared a video showing the Collector's Fortress and plans for its transformation underway. Disneyland has unveiled a new video that provides a more detailed look at Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout!, the new superhero-themed attraction that's replacing the park's beloved Tower of Terror. We saw some concept art during Comic-Con, and now there's a video that shows off some of the designs and colors fans will see when they approach the huge building housing the ride.
/Film has more info about the attraction's actual storyline:
In the storyline, The Collector’s Fortress is the “ideal location for The Collector to secure and show off his most prized acquisitions, the Guardians of the Galaxy.” Previously we learned that one member of the group, the intrepid Rocket, has escaped, and he calls upon brave visitors for help. Guests board a gantry lift which launches them into a daring adventure as they join Rocket in an attempt to set free his fellow Guardians. The new...

It was four short years ago that Disney tightened their grip on our collective pop culture nostalgia. Having already secured Marvel Entertainment, the House of Mouse turned their all-seeing eye to Lucasfilm. On October 30, 2012 the acquisition announcement was made and the rest is now history. At the time fans were leery of the purchase, worried that Star Wars would become sanitized to bring in the all-mighty dollar of the preschool set. But while those fears have since been laid to rest with the success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the merger wasn’t without its hiccups and casualties. One of them being an untitled sci-fi project by Max Landis, who was riding high off on the buzz Chronicle back in early 2012. First reported by Variety in January of 2012, the space adventure was axed as being “too similar” once they had Star Wars in their pocket. SlashFilm brought this tidbit...

An attraction called Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission — Breakout! is replacing Disneyland's Tower of Terror ride, and if our comments section is any indication, a lot of fans aren't happy about it. But maybe they'll be more open to an additional Guardians-related ride that's rumored to be coming to Walt Disney World's Epcot Center.
Walt Disney World Today (via /Film) says that current Epcot attraction Ellen's Energy Adventure is going to be replaced with the first roller coaster in the park's history, a Guardians of the Galaxy-themed ride that "would feature both elaborate scenes and a long roller coaster portion." This is notable because it would be the first ride in the park's 35 year history to eschew the "edutainment" theme that they've cultivated there, and it would be only the sixth ride there to be categorized as "thrill."
Interestingly, there are apparently some major restrictions on the use...

Among the many political leaders and ideals alluded to at the Democratic National Convention this week, one stood out as something of a non sequitur: the “Police Academy” movies. That said, none of these movie are even close to as bad as that wretched animated Oz sequel from 2014, I won’t even name that movie for fear that the parade of angry Kickstarter backers will find me again.
Fantastic Four – There are a lot of good reasons to make a movie that costs $120 million but it’s quite apparent that spite isn’t one of them. Fantastic Four is a movie that only exists so Fox retains the rights to the franchise presumably so they can sell them back to Marvel for some insane price, because they clearly have no interest in making a good movie.

TV beards can go one of two ways: They’re either so epic that they deserve their own on-screen credit, or so dreadful that they deserve to be written off — like, yesterday.

Scarlett Johansson took a ride at Disney World Thursday, and the park took extraordinary steps to keep it under wraps. Scarlett and hubby Romain Dauriac had a great time on the Tower of Terror ride, along with some common folks. The folks at Disney routinely take pics of the riders, who then view them afterward for purchase. One of the families on ScarJo's ride were crestfallen when they were told the pics didn't exist. They smelled a rat,...

After turning some of its amusement park rides into feature films, Disney is at it again with plans of making a new movie based on "Tower of Terror," which is one of the company's most popular rides. The ride is connected to the original "Twilight Zone" TV series and features an introduction by the late Rod Serling inviting park-goers to enter a hotel that has ghosts and dropping elevators. The ride also contains lots of references to actual episodes. The movie will have nothing to do with "The Twilight Zone," mostly because there was never an episode about elevators and because the TV series is not a Disney property. The story of the ride focuses on five people in a hotel, who take an elevator and disappear after being hit by lightning. "Big Fish" writer John August provided the treatment and Disney is now searching for a writer to turn it into a screenplay.

Disney is seeking a screenwriter to develop a feature film adaptation of "Tower Of Terror," one of its longest-running and most popular rides in its theme parks.
The story involves five people in a posh hotel who take an elevator and disappear after it is hit by lightning. "Big Fish" scribe John August has penned a treatment for the potential film, which is being dubbed a haunted house movie.
August will produce with Jim Whitaker. Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst starred in a 1997 TV movie based on the ride - the very first movie (TV or theatrical) to be based on a theme park ride.

Disney already produced a made-for-tv movie based on its Tower of Terror theme park ride back in 1997 that starred Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst, but it looks like the studio is getting back in the elevator for another ride.
Deadline reports that the studio is working on a new Tower of Terror film from a treatment by John August (Big Fish, Go, Charlie's Angels, Frankenweenie), and they're currently searching for a writer to flesh it out into a screenplay. The story follows five people in hotel elevator who disappear when it's hit by lightning. No word on a director or cast yet — this is very early on in the process, and I wouldn't be surprised if this ultimately fell by the wayside to make room for more of Disney's live-action fairy tale adaptations. But they're all about name recognition right now, and maybe enough people have been to the theme...

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Disney's penchant for turning theme park rides into movies didn't start with "Pirates Of The Caribbean" (though, that is when they began spending insane piles of money on such fare). Back in 1997, they made their first real attempt with the made-for-tv "Tower Of Terror" starring Steve Guttenberg and Kristen Dunst. Someone named D.J. MacHale wrote and directed the movie and didn't do much after, and the movie itself hasn't really lived on either. But the Mouse House will start over. After its closure back in 1939 – on Halloween, obviously – the Hollywood Tower Hotel was allowed to fall into a state of ruin. That was until its re-opening in 1994, and since then it has witnessed millions of guests come through its doors, although not all of them will enjoy the experience.
I am, of course, talking about the Tower of Terror, one of the most-popular rides at Disney parks around the world, having first opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (then known as Disney-mgm Studios) in Orlando over 20 years ago. Since then it has appeared in California, Tokyo, and Paris, and is one of the most renowned rides, from its impressive exterior to the frightening thrill that lies within.
The idea of the ride is that you are a guest at the hotel, which has just reopened its doors, but then lightning strikes and sends you into the fifth dimension. This...

Because why Not make Disney's Tower of Terror ride into a movie, they're making Disney's Tower of Terror ride into a movie. Or at least, they're trying (allegedly). Ever since the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies made 9 billion gajillion dollars at the box office, Walt Disney Pictures has been searching desperately for their next amusement park ride-turned-blockbuster movie franchise, and the results have been...bad. They've been bad, you guys. I'm not going to sugarcoat this. Cases in point: "The Haunted Mansion." (Bad.) "The Country Bears." (Bad.) "Tomorrowland." (Bad.) But they're not giving up! Those intrepid Disney executives are going to find the next mega-hit franchise if it kills them. They are literally sweating over this. Pools of sweat, everywhere. They are drowning in it, people. Help Them. A few other things you need to know: 1. The project was first rumored in 2009. 2. Tim Burton's frequent screenwriter John August ("Big Fish,...
