Koan's First Movie Review
atari-34 June 2021
Koan, who just turned six, is submitting her first review.

First, Koan wants to say it was "crazy". This is because the balloons grew on stalks.

Second, Koan wants to say she "liked' it. She liked it because the girl had a balloon that could talk, which was her favorite scene.

Koan liked the "colors", because the balloons were bright and colorful.

Koan liked it when the old farmer said "dumber than a bucket of mud", because it was silly.

Koan liked the scene where the lemon turned into lemonade.

She thinks other people will like the movie, especially kids, because it is silly and has lots of balloons.

Two great character actors ......Rip Torn.....Roberts Blossom.....
merklekranz20 December 2008
Rip Torn and Roberts Blossom shine in "Balloon Farm", a smart fantasy film from "Disney". Intriguing enough for adults and children alike, this colorful movie deals with overcoming hardship by believing in the impossible. Several twists keep the outcome in doubt, and maintain interest. The supporting acting varies from accomplished Richard Riehle, as the store owner, to the overacting Neal McDonough, as the sheriff. Nobody will care, because it is such a feel good film, it holds together no matter what the faults. For something different than the usual animation, I suggest giving "Balloon Farm" a try. Recommended family viewing. - MERK

"Make do with what you have."

This movie concerns a mysterious farmer who moves into a drought-stricken farming community and begins raising a very unusual crop. The The movie benefits greatly from the presence of Rip Torn as the farmer and Mara Wilson as the young girl who befriends him. Wilson proves again that she has charm and charisma when in the right film. Fun, light-hearted film with a message beneath the froth.

Warning: Spoilers
Balloons that grow? A pecan pie made out of ONE SINGLE PECAN? If you want to see that happen right before your eyes, watch Balloon Farm! Rip Torn as Harvey Potter has no driver's license and stays that way by distracting the police with his delicious pies. Mara Wilson then discovers a field of balloons grown by Harvey himself. Beautiful cinematography, acting, and fantasy. So remember. If you want me to give you advice on a TV movie you want to see, it's this. The memorizing and spellbinding magic that TV movies is all in...The Balloon Tree. Hope you think this comment is useful. Bye for now. THE END.
