In a world full of chaos and injustice, it’s nice to have a safe space where you can just relax and think about nothing. It’s impossible to let your hair down while watching a dystopian show or an action movie, but a romantic comedy serves the purpose perfectly.
There are so many rom-coms created over the past decades that it goes without saying that some of them will definitely end up as the genre-defying ones, and some will rest there being totally ignored by the masses.
But when a legend like Tarantino says that his favorite movie is a totally low-rated one, maybe it's time to binge watch it again.
The movie in question is controversial director Woody Allen's Anything Else. The 2003 rom-com only has a 40% Rotten Tomatoes score, but in this case it just means nothing.

The last time Taylor Swift released an album, Midnights, she surprised everyone by dropping a 3 A.M. Edition later that night, loaded with new songs. But it turns out that this time, 3 hours was too damn long for her to wait. At 2 A.M. last night, with no warning at all, Swift announced that her brand-new (and excellent) The Tortured Poets Department was secretly a double album all along. She had another 15 songs ready to go, adding up to 31 in all. (That’s right, 13 backwards.) She really is drilling down...

Other than making records, what do Green Day, the Notorious B.I.G., classic crooners Perry Como and Johnny Mathis, Latin music giant Héctor Lavoe, and the late Bill Withers have in common? Not much, until today: Works by all those musicians, and over a dozen more, were announced as the latest additions to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry.
Signed off on by then-president Bill Clinton in 2000, the Registry has aimed to collect recordings —musical performances, speeches, and other audio — deemed “culturally, historically or aesthetically important.” The first...

Following news of O.J. Simpson’s passing, many are learning about his career in football and entertainment.
He was a Heisman Trophy winner in college and an NFL star throughout the 1980s. Like other athletes, he ventured into roles in movies and television.
Some of Simpson’s television roles came the year of his Heisman Trophy win, including single-episode appearances in popular shows Dragnet, Ironside, and It Takes a Thief.
In the late 1980s through the mid-1990s, he was a recurring character in the popular Naked Gun series.
The detective spoof films starred the late Leslie Nielson as Detective Frank Drebin and Simpson as Detective Fred Nordberg.
Based on scarce details, Simpson’s last movie may have been from the Naked Gun series. However, others might see him listed for the upcoming film Mayday Z.

In season two of his Apple docuseries The Reluctant Traveler, Eugene Levy explores parts of Europe that may be overlooked for bigger, more well-known cities.
Instead of Madrid or Barcelona, he visits Andalusia, Spain. The Schitt’s Creek star forgoes Mykonos or Santorini for life on the tiny Greek island of Milos. He finds himself in Sylt, Germany, as opposed to major cities like Berlin or Munich.
Ahead of each season, the Reluctant Traveler production team scouts out possible locations for the Emmy-winning actor, comedian and nervous globe-trotter to visit. Together with Levy, they decide what places would be the most fun and meaningful, and go from there. The team often visits each place multiple times to find out who Levy will be interacting with, what he’s going to do and how he’s going to dive into a new culture.

[This story contains spoilers from episode four of Palm Royale, “Maxine Rolls the Dice.”]
When Katie O’Connell first read Mr. and Mrs. American Pie, Juliet McDaniel’s 2018 novel that was adapted for Apple TV+’s new period comedy-drama Palm Royale, she was “obsessed” with its 1960s setting.
“It just felt like such a cool time period to explore,” O’Connell tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I loved the idea of an outsider coming into what’s seemingly the most un-woke group of women on the planet. It just felt like there was something there.”
Laura Dern and her Jaywalker Pictures producing partner Jayme Lemons agreed when O’Connell brought the novel to them, using it as a springboard for the 10-part series Dern now executive produces and stars in alongside Kristen Wiig, Carol Burnett, Ricky Martin, Allison Janney and Leslie Bibb.

Director Leigh Janiak and the Netflix streaming service brought us a really fun horror event back in the summer of 2021 with the Fear Street trilogy. Three films that were filmed back-to-back-to-back and then released over the course of three weeks – those films being Fear Street Part One: 1994, Fear Street Part Two: 1978, and Fear Street Part Three: 1666. It was an instant franchise, and had the potential to lead to many more films… because, after all, author R.L. Stine has written over 100 books that have been published under the various Fear Street banners. A while back, Scott Stuber, the head of Netflix Film, said they were developing a new standalone Fear Street project. Then Stine took to social media to reveal that the fourth Fear Street movie would be based on his 1992 book The Prom Queen… and now Fear Street: Prom Queen has a cast! Netflix has announced (via Deadline) that the...

Eugene Levy shares that retirement may be right around the corner for him. The Schitt’s Creek star confessed that he has taken the time to reflect and reconsider how much time he wants to spend in Hollywood before stepping out of the limelight. “I’m not afraid of retirement,” Levy, 77, told The Independent. “I love it when I have nothing on the agenda, I really do. I love getting up and the only big decision is where to go for lunch. There’s nothing wrong with that.” The comedian and actor has had an extensive and successful career spanning decades. From playing Jason Biggs‘ dad in the American Pie franchise to portraying Johnny Rose in Schitt’s Creek, Levy shared that he has always taken jobs that excite him, and he has no plans to stop doing that now. “I’ll take on jobs that I find really interesting, and jobs...

Brandon Routh and Mena Suvari will lead the cast of Grammy-winning director Joseph Kahn’s next film, “Ick.”
The film aims to evoke the timeless creature features of the 1980s with an ambitious arsenal of scares and comedy. Routh stars as Hank, a high school science teacher who still pines for his childhood sweetheart, played by Suvari. While discovering he may have a teenage daughter, portrayed by Malina Weissman (“Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events”), Hank must grapple with a terrifying alien anomaly (the titular “Ick”) invading their small town.
Interstellar Entertainment, co-founded by Udaya Sharma, D.C. Cassidy and Michael Fisk, is backing the project. The company is emerging as a powerhouse in the independent film space, currently in the midst of a $100 million fundraising effort.
Kahn has been celebrated as the director of iconic music videos for artists such as Taylor Swift, Eminem, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga,...

Some film festivals take themselves entirely too seriously. Not South by Southwest, the Austin-based multidisciplinary mega-event where amped-up crowds welcome comedies with open arms — the raunchier the better. This year, one logline stood out as especially promising: “A 30-year-old Indian American virgin gets a job teaching high school Sex Ed.” Alas, “Doin’ It” doesn’t cut it (it’s basically 2014 Haley Joel Osment comedy “Sex Ed” with a cultural spin). The concept is funny, but the execution feels forced, in part because the substitute in question (played by Lilly Singh) is supposed to be following an abstinence-based curriculum. In theory, her deep-seated celibacy should make her perfect for the job.
The movie aims to combat the shame around all aspects of human sexuality, which seems like an admirable but inevitably controversial goal. But “Doin’ It” goes too far straight out of the gate, opening with an embarrassment no teenager can...

Hollywood, California – March 08: Eugene Levy is honored with Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame timed to the global premiere of Apple TV+’s “The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy” on March 08, 2024 in Hollywood, California. (Photo by Eric Charbonneau/Getty Images for Apple TV+) Considering it took him until he was 30 years old to get his first TV role, as a regular player on the sketch show Sctv, Eugene Levy seemed like he would be an unlikely candidate for a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. Yet, sure enough, at the age of 77, he’s achieved that honor after achieving both fame and acclaim in the American Pie movies, Christopher Guest’s series of mockumentary films, and, of course, the Emmy Award-winning comedy Schitt’s Creek Currently starring in his own reality series, The Reluctant Traveler, Levy talked about what it means for him to be honored with his Walk of Fame star.

If the golden era of the high school movie was the 1980s, packed with John Hughes’ tales of wistful outsider girls and horny nerds, then mid-late ‘90s was the reprise. This was the era of Valley Girls (Clueless), the make-over movie, and of course modern updates of classic literature. Cruel Intentions fits into this category and takes it to the next level. It’s a teen high school movie full of shagging and spitefulness which has genuine consequences and treats its characters like adults, while allowing them the naivety of youth. It’s 25 years old, and it’s still sexy as fuck.
Based on the novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ which was filmed memorably as 1988’s Dangerous Liaisons, starring Glenn Close, John Malkovich and Michelle Pfeiffer, Cruel Intentions had wonderfully salacious material to work with but big shoes to fill.

‘Drag Me to Hell’ – New Australian Blu-ray Celebrates 15 Years of Sam Raimi’s Horror Return [Review]
Of all the masters of horror that helped to reshape the genre as we know it in the ’70s and ’80s, none were more successful in branching out and achieving commercial success within the studio system than Sam Raimi. His Spider-Man trilogy laid the groundwork for the influx of comic book movies that would follow, but he was eager to return to his roots following the third installment’s turbulent production.
Armed with $30 million and complete creative control, Raimi dusted off a story he wrote with elder brother and frequent collaborator Ivan Raimi back in the ’90s to make his triumphant return to horror with Drag Me to Hell in 2009. The Raimi broters seemingly drew inspiration from 1957’s Night of the Demon but injected it with a heavy dose of Evil Dead DNA, most closely evoking Evil Dead 2‘s cartoonish blend of over-the-top splatter and tongue-in-cheek humor.

The episode of The Best of the Worst focusing on Freddy Krueger was written, narrated, and edited by Mike Holtz.
You wanna know what makes Freddy Krueger so scary? I mean, other than his obvious need to moisturize? He’s unavoidable. As unavoidable as death, taxes and Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce news stories. All he needs to be able to heinously take you out is for you to eventually sleep… and everyone sleeps. Everyone also poops but they haven’t made that movie yet. Just a really well marketed children’s book. See, you can physically escape Michael Myers. Hell, the guy can’t even run! He power walks. Like your grandparents in the mall before the shops open in the morning. You can escape Jason Voorhees by simply wearing his dead mom’s clothing and bossing him around. Some people would just call that a nice Friday night in.

John Lennon and Bob Dylan had some major similarities as artists. However, they had widely differing views on religion. John felt that Dylan betrayed one of his most famous lyrics when he converted to Christianity. The “Power to the People” wasn’t the only one with similar feelings.

Here’s a bit of a surprise. That’s not a massive demand that I can see for comedy movies to make the jump to the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format, although there are exceptions to that rule. Maybe 1999’s American Pie will be one of those.
88 Films has picked up home media rights to the movie, and is set to give the film its 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray debut in the UK this coming June. 24th June to be exact, in a set that includes both a 4K disc and a Blu-ray as well.
The inclusion of a Blu-ray suggests that previous extra features are going to be ported over as part of the release.

He is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the toddler.
In the divorce docs, it is noted that there are “miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects” that belong to both parties, but all of his earnings and savings from before, during and after the marriage, and since the separation, are his alone.
The couple did have a prenup and other additional assets or debts will be divided as outlined in that agreement.

No one can play Buffy Summers, the girl chosen by fate to be a vampire Slayer, better than Sarah Michelle Gellar. She's not the only one who's tried though.
For starters, Gellar is actually the sophomore Slayer — Buffy was first played by Kristy Swanson in the original "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" movie from 1992 (that's been soundly displaced by the TV series in pop culture). For the TV series, Charisma Carpenter originally auditioned for Buffy, but ultimately played Queen Bee Cordelia Chase instead, the part that Gellar turned down. The whole point of Cordelia is that she's what Buffy was before she became the Slayer (an acerbic popular girl), so casting Gellar and Carpenter made sense. In another world, they could pull off each others' parts.
Carpenter wasn't the only runner-up to play Miss Summers. Back in 2001, when "Buffy" was still ongoing and sensation, Natasha Lyonne appeared on "The Howard Stern Show...

After the news of Toby Keith’s death broke overnight, reactions from the stars of the country music world and beyond followed, as some legendary figures and admirers of the late Nashville star began to share tributes online.
Keith “passed peacefully last night on Feb. 5, surrounded by his family,” read his official website’s announcement of his death; he was 62. The news came two years after the singer posted about his stomach cancer diagnosis on his official Instagram page.
His Instagram page is where many are directing their reactions and condolences following the news. “God Bless you and Family,” singer Randy Houser commented. “Hard to imagine an America without Toby Keith in it.”
Actor Stephen Baldwin commented, “Wow this announcement has totally taken my breath away. I’ve been praying for Toby and it is truly wonderful to know he is finally home praise Jesus” and Georgia-based singer-songwriter Channing Wilson wrote,...

Elvis Presley inspired more country songs than you can shake a pair of blue suede shoes at. One of the more famous ones is Patty Loveless’ “I Try to Think About Elvis.” The track was initially more masculine. Here’s why it got changed.
Patty Loveless’ ‘I Try to Think About Elvis’ was originally about handguns and red meat
While Loveless brought “I Try to Think About Elvis” to life with her vocals, she had nothing to do with its writing. “I Try to Think About Elvis” was written by Gary Burr. Burr is also known for writing country classics like Juice Newton’s “Love’s Been a Little Bit Hard on Me” and Tim McGraw’s “Can’t Be Really Gone.”
During a 1995 interview with American Songwriter, Burr discussed how “I Try to Think About Elvis” evolved. “I had to rewrite ‘Elvis’ because it was a very testosterone-driven song,...

In January of 1999, two teen movies opened back to back and kicked off what would be one of the most extraordinary years for youth-oriented movies in the history of Hollywood. Both were No. 1 at the box office their first weekend. Both boasted remarkable casts of rising stars — they even shared a star in Paul Walker. And both whipped ancient genre conventions into new combinations that made them fresh and new. Yet for all their similarities, “Varsity Blues” and “She’s All That” couldn’t have been more different: one an R-rated sports drama that tempered its inspirational coming-of-age drama with surprisingly harsh depictions of misogyny and physical and mental abuse, the other a sweet, good-natured romantic comedy nearly as innocent as a Mickey Rooney-Judy Garland vehicle from the 1940s. In their similarities and differences lies the key to why 1999 was such a great year for movies of their type — the 1939 of teen movies.

The weekend numbers are here and with it we are seeing the beginnings of how much the Writers and Actors strikes are going to affect the 2024 box office as there were zero wide new releases. Granted, January is generally a slow time and most studios sit this weekend out due to not wanting to compete with the NFL Championship games, but even last year saw Neon release their Brandon Cronenberg film Infinity Pool while Fathom events knew their faith based audience would show up for Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist.
But let’s not bury the lead: in its third week of release The Beekeeper has pulled off the upset and won the weekend with $7.4 million. That is quite the feat as R rated action films have had a really tough time at the box office in recent years. In our Thursday predictions, we thought the NFL playoffs may...

This year celebrates 25 years since the final year of the 1900’s. A year that brought about such classics as The Matrix, Fight Club, American Pie, and Office Space as well as my personal favorite movie of all time: Arlington Road. The year was so successful that 20 years later it would inspire a book titled Best Movie Year Ever.
With a vast cannon of films ranging from highly anticipated block busting prequels (Star Wars: Episode 1- The Phantom Menace) to that years’ eventual Best Picture winner American Beauty and a movie that changed the meaning of twist endings forever (The Sixth Sense) 1999 truly was a year for the ages.
I will be honest, after compiling last weeks list for Best Movies from 1994 and now this list, I have to say 1994 was far more deserving of its own book! But that isn’t to say that 1999 doesn’t have a number of...

While Elvis Presley‘s “Blue Suede Shoes” remains one of the most famous tracks of the 1950s, fans should remember that the tune was originally by Carl Perkins. Bob Dylan offered his take on the situation. He also had some interesting things to say about shoes in general.
A car accident caused Elvis’ ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ to overshadow the original
In his 2022 book The Philosophy of Modern Song, Dylan praised Perkins’ “Blue Suede Shoes.” He said there are numerous tunes about shoes. He said “Blue Suede Shoes” was wonderfully menacing, with its implied threat of violence. He felt the tune highlighted that stepping on someone’s shoes could be a greater insult than bashing their teeth in, beating them up, or discrediting them.
While Dylan liked Perkins’ signature hit, he didn’t think Perkins’ career was that successful. “Poor Carl Perkins, watching Elvis Presley sing his song ‘Blue Suede Shoes...

In a 2022 interview for Variety, actor, writer, and director Christopher Guest said, “When I met (Jennifer Coolidge), I knew there was something going on that was special. And I was right, fortunately.” He praised her ability to command attention without commanding the dialogue. “This person stands out. Everyone else to me is invisible. You want to see her.”
We have seen her on our television and theater screens since the early 90s. And 2023 may have been her best year yet.
So, what happened to Jennifer Coolidge, the self-deprecating eccentric humorist and sometimes sex symbol, who owns over 100 credits in television and film? To know that, we must do what we always do: start at the beginning where the beginning began.

The 1999 coming-of-age comedy "American Pie" was a massive hit when it was released in 1999. Starring a who's-who of upcoming teen talent, "American Pie" delved deeply into the more embarrassing sexual details of being an adolescent boy in the modern day. There were scenes involving bodily fluids, oral sex, and multiple references to creative masturbation. While the bulk of the film -- written by Mike Herz and directed by Paul Weisz -- prided itself on aggressive raunchiness, it wisely ended on a sweet note, allowing the characters to realize that despite having had sex, they still have a lot to look forward to on their journey of growing up.
For a while in the early 2000s, Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Mena Suvari, Shannon Elizabeth, Seann William Scott, Thomas Ian Nicholas, and Natasha Lyonne were household names largely because of the "American Pie" movies. To date, the series has made $990 million.

Bob Dylan once wrote an essay about Elvis Presley’s “Viva Las Vegas.” He saw it as a song about faith — albeit faith in something that isn’t traditionally considered religious. Dylan also had a bit to say about the faith that Elvis’ manager had in the “Heartbreak Hotel” singer. Fascinatingly, “Viva Las Vegas” wasn’t much of a hit.
Bob Dylan said Elvis Presley’s ‘Viva Las Vegas’ is about a modern Garden of Eden
In his 2022 book The Philosophy of Modern Song, Dylan analyzed “Viva Las Vegas” in depth. “This is a song about faith,” he wrote. “The kind of faith where you step under a shower spigot in the middle of a desert and fully believe water will come out.
“Or, more to the point, the type of faith where you stand in the marble lobby of an opulent hotel with neon flashin’ while being served free...

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Shift: Joe Drake Stepping Down As Chair, Hands Reins To Adam Fogelson
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair Joe Drake is exiting the company, and handing over executive duties and title to Motion Picture Group Vice Chair Adam Fogelson.
This was a move initiated by Drake who’ll be working with Fogelson over the coming months to transition him to the Chair role.
The corporate segue follows Lionsgate’s reboot of the Hunger Games franchise with the Q4 holiday prequel, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which has grossed over $340M global box office to date.
Drake rejoined Lionsgate in 2017 after having success with Good Universe Pictures, the second company acquired by Lionsgate from Drake. Other highlights during his current run of the Motion Picture Group include multi-award-winning Knives Out ($312M global B.O.), the last two John Wick movies ($766M+ global B.O.), and the latest installment in the Saw franchise ($111M global box). 1999 was the apex of teen girl cinema, with over a dozen new releases now hailed in "girl world" as seminal classics. But that year also brought the financial juggernaut of "American Pie," and Hollywood realized that there was serious money to be made with boy-centered sex comedies. Pair that with the horrific tragedy at Columbine High School, and suddenly problems like a boy pretending to like you for a payday felt frivolous, and edgier fare felt too dangerous to be entertaining. Teen girl movies didn't outright disappear, but they certainly fell out of popularity and became niche, "chick flick" fare more than ever. The genre has never fully recovered and continues to fight for respect and relevance 25 years later. Fortunately, there have been culture-shifting pop cultural juggernauts that remind Hollywood (and society at large) that teen girls are and will forever be the true tastemakers.

Though it took far too many years to get a solo film for the titular character, Marvel's "Black Widow" finally arrived in 2021. Despite the fact that Natasha Romanov (Scarlett Johansson) had already died in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by that point, at least we got a proper send-off for the character and the introduction of Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, the clear Mvp of the film.
We also got a really fun performance from David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov, aka Red Guardian, who, along with Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz), acted as sleeper Russian agents living in Ohio with the young Yelena (Violet McGraw) and Natasha (Ever Anderson). At the beginning of the film, these four are living as a family undercover, but when they're made, they have to take off in a rush for a flight to Cuba, in fear for their lives. Sharknado actress Tara Reid recently discussed weight loss rumors following her departure from season 2 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
Reid opened up about the “demons she continues to fight inside her,” including internet bullies and body image.
During the interview with the Los Angeles Inquisitor, she denied having anorexia and bulimia, saying, “I’m terrified of throwing up, so that’s not gonna happen. And I love food too much.”
She called out those who spread rumors about her, calling them “miserable” for spreading these “hurtful” lies about her.
“Leave me alone,” the actress said. “Pick on me again on something else, but not on those two things. It’s not right.”
She compared her experience as a thin person to that of heavier people, pointing out the double standards.

The Beatles‘ “Hey Jude” is one of the most uplifting songs in the classic rock canon. Ironically, Paul McCartney said he upset George Harrison while they were completing the song. The “Silly Love Songs” singer regretted some of his actions. Regardless, the tune became a No. 1 single in multiple countries.
Paul McCartney didn’t like George Harrison’s guitar playing on The Beatles’ ‘Hey Jude’
In the 1997 book Paul McCartney: Many Years From Now, Paul discussed the contentious recording of “Hey Jude.” “I remember sitting down and showing George the song and George did the natural thing for a guitar player to do, which is to answer every line of vocal,” Paul recalled. “And it was like, ‘No, George.’
“And he was pretty offended, and looking back, I think, ‘Oh, s***, of course you’d be offended. You’re blowing the guy out,'” Paul continued. “I said, ‘No, no.

Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald initially set out to write Obliterated as a feature film. But the creators of Netflix’s latest action comedy changed their minds. They felt their ensemble cast of characters would be best served in a series where they would have time to explore each one in depth, and be able to give each character their own adventure.
The result is the eight-episode series now streaming on Netflix, which follows an elite special forces team — made up of an ensemble cast led by Nick Zano and Shelley Hennig — who wake up with a massive hangover and attempt to break up a deal for a nuclear weapon that could obliterate Las Vegas. Terrence Terrell, Paola Lázaro, Kimi Rutledge, Eugene Kim, C. Thomas Howell, Alyson Gorske and Carl Lumbly round out the cast.

‘The Mist’ 4K Ultra HD Review – There’s a Reason We’re Still Talking About This Movie 16 Years Later
Stephen King adaptations have always been hit and miss. Before Mike Flanagan came along, there was one filmmaker who could always be trusted with King’s material: Frank Darabont, whose first foray into filmmaking was a short adaptation of “The Woman in the Room.” After making a name for himself as a screenwriter with the likes of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and The Blob, Darabont made his feature directorial debut with 1994’s The Shawshank Redemption and followed it up with The Green Mile in 1999.
His thus-far final King adaptation came in 2007 with The Mist, which finds a group of locals trapped in a grocery store while an ominous fog shrouding mysterious secrets envelopes their quaint Maine town. A microcosm of any community, the supermarket is a canny setting for a contained thriller. The divisive mob mentality and pigheaded self-righteousness that manifests under pressure is even more poignant in a post-Trump world.

Marvel’s Thunderbolts is bringing a fresh narrative to the table, with David Harbour’s Red Guardian and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova at the center of its intriguing storyline. Harbour, in a recent interview with ScreenRant, shed light on the complex dynamics between these two characters.
He revealed that the film delves into the characters’ shared history, particularly their time as spies in the Midwest. This aspect of their past plays a significant role in the movie, adding depth to their relationship. For instance, it mirrors the depth seen in the ‘Black Widow’ film, notably in the scene featuring the song “American Pie.”
What stands out in Harbour’s description is the nuanced relationship between Red Guardian and Yelena. Despite Yelena’s apparent disdain for him, she relies on him in ways that she might not fully understand. This reflects the often complicated nature of real-life relationships, where the...

Bob Dylan’s influence is so great that it even extends to a song about an “elementary penguin.” John Lennon said The Beatles‘ “I Am the Walrus” was similar to Dylan’s music. He even accused the “Lay Lady Lay” singer of getting “away with murder” among intellectuals. While John’s comments were spot-on in some ways, he also ignored a major aspect of Dylan’s work.
John Lennon said The Beatles’ ‘I Am the Walrus’ had odd lyrics like a Bob Dylan song
The book All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono features an interview from 1980. In it, John cited Dylan as an inspiration and also discussed “I Am the Walrus.” “In those days I was writing obscurely, à la Dylan, never saying what you mean, but giving the impression of something,” he explained. “Where more or less can be read into it.
