The story takes place before the end of the 19th Century, in the era of unpaved roads, oil lamps, and cattle rustling, yet Kay Harris sports a strictly 1943 hairstyle, and contemporary 1943 clothing, including knee length skirts, shoulder pads, and high heeled shoes, at least fifty or more years ahead of their time.
