Storyline

Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane is a series that saw two lives. First: The first series follows four students (see title of show) at a private high school, Fielding Mellish Prep, in Manhattan. Even in the first series, the show focus was on Zoe (the other kids in the title are friends of Zoe's (Selma Blair), the twins Jack (a pre-Lex Luthor Michael Rosenbaum) and Jane (Azura Skye), and the loser Duncan (David Moscow)). The first series lasted 13 episodes before being halted for a remix. Second: The second series was just called "Zoe" and follows Zoe a few years later as a college student studying psychology. Most of the characters from the first 13 episodes, turn up in the second "Zoe" 13 episodes. Written by Steve Howe

Lame lame lame... with one exception...
20 February 2004 | by TerminalMadnessSee all my reviews

This is possibly one of the more overrated shows on the WB ever made. Take four people all of whom look in their late twenties and make them pretend to be High Schoolers and you end up with a far-fetched piece of crap.

They pretend to be "Friends" hanging out in a coffeehouse, and tredge through High school with completely annoying characters and terrible plotlines.

Zoe played by the likable and often charming Selma Blair is a cardboard cutout as the lead, and the rest of the characters are horrible... with one exception.

Micheal Rosenbaum is so-o-o-o-o funny in this show and could have been the only hope if the show would have changed direction. His comic delivery is on key and he has impeccable timing. He truly has a knack for comedy.

The show was later retooled into just "Zoe" with the same characters, except they all worked in a restaurant, but that was just as awful and it was thankfully cancelled.

Blair later redeemed herself making some good movies, and Rosenbaum redeemed himself taking a powerful turn as the young Lex Luthor in "Smallville" often stealing the scenes from other cast members with his great acting.
